Davidson intends to enjoy reset button
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 08:39 AM) Please let's stop using ballpark factor as if it is meaningful in 2 weeks' worth of games. The effect isn't even all that huge over a full season, let alone such a short sample. You're saying the ballpark factor at Charlotte isn't that significant or that ballpark factors in general aren't? -
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) Samardzija is starting tomorrow if there's a game, vs Ubaldo. Makes sense, skip your 5th starter when you have an unforeseen off-day.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 07:28 AM) If you just look at the 5 guys at the back of the bullpen that are the ones who will be pitching in close games (Robertson, Jennings, Duke, Putnam, Petricka), their numbers are pretty phenomenal. Every team is going to have a garbage time reliever that is going to skew the numbers so I think it's safe to ignore them for the sake of deciding just how good a bullpen is. Just looking at those 5 guys they have a 2.52 ERA, 1.99 FIP, 1.066 WHIP, 11.36 K/9, 3.46 K/BB That is really about as good as you could realistically expect and they could be even better depending on what Rodon is going to be able to give you. Spot-on summary. Whether this performance is sustainable is up for debate, but there's no denying just how good the core of the bullpen has been so far this year. IMO, those guys are pretty much the reason our season didn't spiral out of control after the 0-4 start. Anyone arguing against the quality of their work this year is clearly hating for no logical reason.

David Robertson is a f***ing beast.

Guys, can we stop trying to jinx this game? Let Robertson get the last out and then we can all glorify him! -

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 04:12 PM) Hopefully Robertson is available if the save opportunity arises. If he isn't, who closes it out? Maybe Duke? I don't think Robertson will be available. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) The Sox are going to have a big call at 3b pretty soon. Conor seems to have been a couple months wonder. Davidson is not MLB caliber at this point. It's too bad they didn't cash in their chips for Donaldson. Yeah, I'm about ready to admit I was wrong about Conor being able to be part of an effective 3B platoon. And while I don't think Davidson is anywhere close to being an option yet, Sanchez and/or Saladino could get a look at 3B in the not too distant future. Not the ideal solution, but not sure there are better in-house options at the moment. -

Let's score some runs here! -
Trayce Thompson has gotten incredibly lucky this year (.429 BABIP), so I wouldn't get too excited just yet, especially when he is striking out 31% of the time and his power & BB rate numbers are down.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) He's still only 23 without the benefit of a full season in the Major Leagues, so you would think he does have time, with experience, to fine tune those tools and then recognize his talent. The problem I have at this point is trying to get him to do that underneath the pressure of being a middle-of-the-order hitter. He needs to be down around 7th in the order at this stage of his career. 100% agree. He's nowhere near ready to be our 5 hitter.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 08:33 PM) I got flamed this offseason for saying I hope Robin has the flexibility to bat Melky 5th because I had no hope in Avi/Gillaspie/Flowers. Starting to look like you were right about Conor. Still too early to write off Avi, but obviously he hasn't looked good as of late. I will say Flowers' at-bats babes looked ok to me lately, even if the results haven't been impressive. Regardless, Melky batting 5th may happen sooner than we think if Avi continues to struggle.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 08:23 PM) Maybe Robin should try to shake things up? Put Micah at the top for a few games and see what happens I think you have to keep Micah batting 9th for a bit longer. Maybe put Alexei in the 2 spot and move Melky to the 4 or 5 spot. The problem is you're just shuffling the deck with a group of guys who have scored less than 2 runs in more than half of their games.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) Eaton and Johnson not getting on base Laroche playing like Dunn did Those are your issues. Micah has a .341 OBP.
