  1. Unless we add Springer for RF, entering next year with no rotation upgrade is inexcusable. We should be all systems go come 2021 and that means improving our biggest weakness which is the starting rotation. I get we should have five theoretical starters with Kopech coming back, but no competitor in their right mind is going to war with so much uncertainty in a given area of their roster. We need another reliable starter in the 1 to 3 range and need a better 6th starter. If you can add a guy via free agency or trade and hold onto Kopech then you are set. But relying on guys like Rodon (who has proven he can’t stay healthy as a starter) or Stiever (who hasn’t even pitched in AA) to be our depth is crazy. We really need to stop fucking around next year and I can promise you having too much will never be a problem. If Kopech looks like the budding TOR starter we all hope he’ll be, we’ll find to make it work. Until then, plan for the worst and make sure you have six legit options.
  2. I’m so fucking confused right now, hopefully that’s just me waking from a drunken stupor
  3. I’m thinking more along the lines of a DeGrom type, but a guy like German Marquez would be of high interest to me.
  4. He’s a good pitcher, just don’t want another soft tossing lefty and if I’m giving up a Kopech I want a legit TOR starter who can carry us in the playoffs.
  5. In honor of JoeCoolMan, I nominate Mazara to be nick-named CoLdIcE
  6. Because they could probably get something and if they couldn’t why sell at a low point?
  7. And I applaud you for that, but it definitely seems like you’re trying to link the term “hillbilly” to legit hate filled words that center a round a person’s color of skin, religious beliefs, etc. But like I said, if you or someone else truly finds it offensive, I’ll happily just call Cousins ignorant or dumb.
  8. Didn’t see this posted anywhere, but Fegan has a write-up on how COVID has been impacting Moncada with quotes from Yoan himself. It’s very clear he’ll be battling this along with his left leg issue the rest of the season. https://theathletic.com/2043628/2020/09/04/a-daily-battle-months-later-yoan-moncada-is-still-affected-by-covid-19/?source=user_shared_article
  9. You tell me since you seem to be offended I called a guy from Barrington, Illinois a hillbilly
  10. A person who ignores science and says if they die from COVID they are ok with that.
  11. Cease has been pretty bad this year despite a nice looking ERA.
  12. It’s just nerves IMO. His reputation has always been a guy who gets the job done with the balls he can actually get to.
  13. From what I’ve seen, he’s been falling behind a lot and is still getting things done. With time he should draw more walks and start getting pitches he can drive into the gaps for doubles.
  14. 4th rounder plus taking on the remaining guaranteed money in his contract.
  15. Just to reiterate, the number one goal for this offseason should be to fortify the pitching. As we saw last night, even a high pitchability guy like Dunning is going to hit bumps in the road. Get one more starter in the 1-3 range and push Cease & Dunning down to the 4 & 5 spots. That means short of an injury, Kopech starts off 2021 in AAA for a few months (buying back an extra year of team control) and replaces whoever is the weakest in the rotation at that time.
  16. I think he’s gotten himself in better shape. And I will fully admit I was worried about his 2019 slash line against RHP, but he’s made me look like an asshole and for that I’d tell him thank you.
  17. 100% agree, was thinking about this when I was going through the 16 to 30 list. We finally have a bunch of exciting young talents in the lower levels, but don’t get to watch them progress via box score this year. It’s a major bummer, but hopefully next year is worth a wait. That Kanny roster should be loaded to make up for lost time.
  18. Definitely Abreu. His fWAR is only 0.3 behind Tim’s for the team lead, but he’s been clutch this year, leads the majors in RBIs, and is more or less the leader of the positional guys. Tim is definitely a close 2nd as he’s more or less the heart of the team and winning a second batting title in two years with improved power numbers is crazy.
  19. Crotchet is officially the 99th ranked prospect now due to graduations. Very exciting to finally have another guy make the list after the big four prospects. Hopefully we have a few more guys make the leap next year including Kelley and Stiever.
  20. While I find it amusing when Madrigal haters say his defense or base-running is overrated, there are some posters who are convinced Nick won’t be a .300+ hitter in the majors. SSS I know, but according to Statcast his xBA is .334 and that’s with him striking at an 8.4% clip with a low walk rate, both of which will improve over time. Right now, his batted ball profile would make him a league average hitter with virtually no power. The likely reality is Nick is going to be a high BA / high OBP player who is both a plus base-runner (even without elite speed) and plus defender. His contact-oriented approach at the plate will add some much needed consistency to a lineup that can get way too swing heavy at times. Putting him in the 9th spot basically allows him to become our second leadoff hitter and should put some real stress on opposing pitchers when he gets on-base with our big batters up. The kid is never going to be Jose Altuve, but he doesn’t need to be to warrant being the #4 pick. His bat control is so elite that he can easily be a 3+ win player with minimal power.
