Grandal has a +140 wRC+ against LHP, so it’s not a huge loss if he can’t play the field. Definitely need him against Bassitt tomorrow though.

Team needs to come out hungry today. Giolito in particular needs to be sharp from the get-go and pitch like the ace he’s capable of being. I also want Ricky to go with an “all-in” lineup, which means no Encarnacion today whether Eloy is playing or not. Preferably that means both Yasmani & McCann in the lineup, but obviously that depends on whether Eloy can play LF. And most importantly, no relievers outside of the big six should get work today. Sorry Ricky, but that means no Jimmy Cordero if/when Lucas gets pulled.

Zero chance Reylo gets a start

Great post, but IMO there is a big difference between Dane Dunning and the other two guys. Despite a terrible final start, Dane still has a 3.99 FIP on the season. He’s shown a bulldog mentality on the mound and doesn’t seem like the type of guy to buckle under pressure. He should hands-down be the #3 starter. And honestly, we just need a good four innings from him before switching to the bullpen. If we can get that, there’s a halfway decent chance we can win a game three. Obviously the deeper Giolito & Keuchel can go the better, so we can deploy more arms in game 3.

Colome, Bummer, Marshall, Heuer, Foster, & Crotchet doesn’t reflect depth? I mean, Jace Fry is actually a decent middle reliever and he shouldn’t the field until game three at the earliest unless something horribly goes wrong with Gioltio or Keuchel.

We don’t need a 4th starter for this round and I believe you can change your playoff roster for each series.

Zero excuse to not have a 3rd catcher on a 28 man playoff roster if it allows you to play two of your best hitters again LHP.

Hopefully he amps himself up too much and we can take advantage.

Luzardo starting game one ?

It’s going to be fascinating to see which one of Colas or Cespedes they sign as it can really only be one of them. It sounds like Cespedes is the better all-around prospect, but Colas potentially fills a massive hole by offering a left-handed power bat that could slide into RF assuming he’s in good shape.

I don’t think a full bullpen day is realistic if a game three is needed, which means Dunning has to be part of the equation IMO. I’d try to get at least three or four innings out of him before turning over the the bullpen.

RF is not going to be a huge priority? What are the priorities then? And we said the same thing last year after getting epically bad production out of RF and then ended up with Nomar Mazara. It’s time to stop fucking around and at least get a two to three win player for RF. If we’re relying on guys like Leury and Rutherford to be the answer then we’re fucked from the get-go.
