QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 02:54 PM) The first season of AHS is really good. Coven was ok. Asylum was meh and I quit Freak Show already. I thought Asylum was a lot better than Coven, but Freak Show has really jumped the shark.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 01:00 PM) In one of my leagues I have Peyton, Marshawn and Jordy and there's a very real possibility that I still might lose this week. Who are you playing?

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 8, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) I'm just saying, it's six games in. Last year after six games I was more worried. Rose and all looked horrible. We are scoring but the hard work inside is being done by a dude on a bad ankle and a dude with a bad knee, and our second unit has two rookies. They have a lot to learn and need time. It kind of sounds like you guys are agreeing here.

QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 8, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) There are few things more disturbing than reading the stuff college freshmen turn in for a first-year writing class. Good god, are they awful at writing. And this is at a relatively selective school: the 25th-75th percentile ACT scores are 27-31, 95% were in top quarter of HS class, 65% were in top ten percent of HS class. I don't think it changes much as they get older. I know I never once proofread a paper, and I always got A's at a similarly selective school. Of course, I never had to take anything beyond the 200 level which required me to write a paper, so maybe they do get better as upperclassmen.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) The hype around the next big thing at Simeon, frosh Kezo Brown, has started before he's played a HS game. Nebraska offered. I was going to ask you if you'd seen him play at all, but figured it was way to early to make any sort of judgement if you had. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) I totally get it, but I also think part of having a focused team is recruiting the right players and leaders as well as having that clean culture that some coaches can instill. You also need to have zero tolerance if you want a clean program or at least take more than a few exhibition games away from the kids. This is definitely something Crean has struggled mightily with. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 10:03 AM) Nah, would rather you see John Wick, lol. Or lose 30-40 pounds like Jake G and gauntly haunt SoxTalk. Nightcrawler doesn't have that "event status" movie feel like Gone Girl or Interstellar...or, gasp, Hunger Games. To be honest, I thought it looked kind of dumb in the previews, but with the overwhelmingly positive reviews of the movie, I'll probably see it sometime this weekend.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 2, 2014 -> 08:16 AM) That's funny because OSU was punished by actually covering the spread, on the road, at Navy. You shouldn't have quoted someone who has seen it. Didn't that at least have something to do with Braxton Miller going down for the season? -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2014 -> 09:30 PM) Because your definition of awful is hilariously bad. When you went back and edited your post you should have changed the name to OToole. At least it would have been accurate. My bad for insulting the beloved. You are correct. I should have merely said that Barrett was playing poorly. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2014 -> 09:22 PM) Outgained the entire Illinois offense. Awful. I honestly don't even know why you're fighting me on this... He was clearly bothered by his injury and made a lot of bad passes in the first quarter, the point in time when I said he looked awful. He since recovered and started playing better. I watch Illinois almost every week; I know they're bad. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2014 -> 09:14 PM) 205 yards in one half and he's done for the day. Awful Maybe I imagined him airmailing all those passes in the first quarter. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 28, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) Ok, but that's still a legit offer. If he accepts, they're bound by it. Furthermore, what does Kansas have to gain for faking interest here? Do they really think teams will look at Kansas' interest, not do their own homework and then offer a guy sight unseen? Or do people think this is some deal between Kansas and the prospect to drum up more interest in him? But again, what does Kansas gain by doing that? I dunno, I don't get it. Jerrance Howard was known at Illinois for just doing his own thing without really getting the backing of Weber. From what I heard, he saw LoVett and offered him on the spot. Does that offer have the backing of Self? That's the only reason I asked. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 28, 2014 -> 12:20 PM) I don't get this "is this offer legit or not" stuff. If they offered (a simple yes or no question) and he takes it, that's a legit offer. Until UC Irvine says they're not accepting his commitment. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 28, 2014 -> 05:43 AM) Got some more backstory on LoVett, some which maybe common knowledge. Didn't play high school ball last year. His dad is a major pain in the ass. Pulled him out of the school in CA because the coach wouldn't abide by the dad's restrictions. His dad didn't want Marcus playing in every game and gave the coach a list of the only games Marcus would play in. On a good note, his dad, in the past few months, has realized he screwed everything up after Marcus tried to commit to UC Irvine and the school wanted nothing to do with Marcus and the kid and declined the commitment. The rumor is he told the Irvin's that he will stay out of everything this year and sort of just washed his hands of his own behavior. Marcus definitely wanted to stay in state and/or go to Illinois...before the Kansas offer. I had no idea of the specifics, but I was hearing similar things that the people around him were bad news. He doesn't come off all that bad in the interviews he has online. Is the Kansas offer legit? It sounded like it was Jerrance Howard doing Jerrance Howard things. Either way, if LoVett is even half as good as Irvin hypes him up to be those types of offers would have come anyways. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 24, 2014 -> 11:20 AM) I actually do think that if things are equal or close to equal Illinois needs to hire a minority coach just to get rid of the perception some people have. The problem is that outside of Babers there aren't a ton of good minority candidates for Illinois. And agree on Thomas. I like Groce and his hiring record and Cincy was stellar but if he fails on a second football coach at Illinois he is gone. And it really sucks but I hope Illinois loses every football game until Beckman is fired. I just don't want there to be any chance he is brought back. If he is brought back Thomas should be fired this offseason as well. The problem with Babers is that Bowling Green has gotten a lot worse since he's arrived. In addition to that, I have to imagine there's a reason he hasn't gotten much of a shot as a HC yet since he got his first coordinating gig about 15 years ago. Wouldn't be extremely mad about the hire, but I wouldn't be excited at all for it either. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 23, 2014 -> 07:33 AM) The boosters know who these kids are and whether the program is recruiting them without the coach telling the boosters, in the same way you or I know X program is recruiting Y player. For the connected boosters, I can't imagine it's that hard to get an introduction with the recruit. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2...g-man-interview -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 22, 2014 -> 08:15 AM) Having never played Blood Dragon, I will just say that Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep was absolutely phenomenal and it's by far my #1 DLC. Bethesda has had some really good DLC too between the Elder Scrolls and Fallout too. I remember my buddy and I playing through that one on whatever the hardest difficulty was right after we hit max level, and it would take us a good 15-20 minutes sometimes to clear an area. It was definitely one of my favorite parts of playing that game. Speaking of Boarderlands, has anybody played the pre sequel?

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 20, 2014 -> 03:24 PM) That's what I thought. There was a discussion on an illini board regarding his Illini coaching canidacy and how much influence he had on ND's offense. I don't think he is too much of a candidate anyways but we'll see. He's still probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite candidate, but considering that he was on the short list the last go around, he'd probably get some consideration if they miss on their top targets again. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 02:32 PM) Ole Miss has bought and paid for a majority of their team, they are already under investigation. Man, you must be an Illinois fan with accusations like that! I do remember seeing those pictures of Laquon Treadwell flashing a bunch of money and thinking he should be a little more careful with social media. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) They did tell her to stop. Edit: nevermind, found it. The police officer wasn't very forceful about it, that's for sure.
