  1. Jason Marquis will be traded to the Rockies for Luis Vizcaino later this week. Source Steve Phillips of ESPN
  2. I would love to see Garland back in a Sox uniform
  3. After talking with various outlets, Darrin Jackson has agreed to return to the White Sox as a radio analyst. Jackson had worked the last nine years in the television booth but his spot is being taken over by Steve Stone, joining play-by-play man Hawk Harrelson. "This has been my home," Jackson told the Tribune Saturday. "Farmio (play-by-play announcer Ed Farmer) is a friend of mine, and we're going to have fun." Jackson, 46, had explored possibilities with ESPN, MLB.TV and others before informing Sox officials of his decision to return. The Sox's spring training move from Tucson to Glendale also was attractive to Jackson, who resides in Chandler in the off-season. "There were a lot of interesting things going on," Jackson said. "But now I don't have to mess around. I'm staying in Chicago." source: Tribune

  7. I heard that Pettite might be going back to the Yankees as well. They're loading up on pitchers this off season..
  8. According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Yankees signed A.J. Burnett to a five-year, $82.5MM deal. That's $243.5MM spent on the Yankees on starting pitching, unless C.C. Sabathia opts out. The Braves will have to figure out a Plan B.
  9. Ken Rosenthal reports today, that the Sox are still talking to the Reds. The Jermaine Dye-to-the-Reds discussions continue at a "moderate" level, but for the moment the White Sox continue to plan on Dye being their Opening Day right fielder, according to a major-league source. A deal for Dye was indeed close before Thanksgiving, the source said, with the White Sox expected to receive right-hander Homer Bailey and perhaps another prospect in return. The trade, however, stalled in part due to questions about how much the White Sox would pay of Dye's $11.5 million salary next season. The amount they paid would have affected the quality of the second prospect in the deal. Now, the Reds simply might wait to determine whether they can sign a free-agent outfielder such as Bobby Abreu or Pat Burrell at a comparable salary without giving up any players in a trade.
