White Sox vs Mariners 7:10 CST
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 07:24 PM) I really enjoy Gordon's new swing. Looked like a Crede homerun...he loved that bullpen area right down the line.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 02:34 PM) I live 288 miles away and I'm going to at least 2 games this year. I live 140 miles away and I've been to a minimum of 2 games for the last 6 years. Just making a comment that tonight is not possible for me.

White Sox vs Mariners 7:10 CST
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 10:30 AM) The one thing that annoys me about casual Sox fans...they seem to come up with any little excuse not to go to games. "We just won 8 straight and Peavy is pitching tonight!" "Yeah but it won't be 76 degrees" or "Who wants to see Seattle...they suck" or "This might be a fluke....let me see how they do after the next few games" How about this one: "I have limited funds to make the 3 hour drive and spend $150 at the ballpark (on a rainy night vs the Mariners) due to the fact that I have 2 bachelor parties this month, just spent $1200 last night on a king bed, (can't wait to sleep in it Sat night after the Sox 11th consecutive win) and I'm going to watch the series in St. Louis on the 14th". I think that "excuse" gives me a pass for the night. But then again, I'm not a "casual fan" either

Gordon Beckham vs. Joe Crede
QUOTE (Tannerfan @ May 31, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) I remember threads back in '05 where the consensious was Joe Crede while great defensively, would never be a decent third baseman because he couldn't hit. Crede invented the infield pop up, he was so slow if a man was on first it was a guaranteed double play. Things like that. Really the same type of criticism Beckham gets now.We tend to be cynical about some of our players when there here, then love them once they're gone. Gordo has above avg speed, does he not?

Gordon Beckham vs. Joe Crede
QUOTE (pcullotta @ May 31, 2012 -> 12:18 PM) That's true, and I don't think Gordon will ever be able to have a 30 HR, 94 RBI season but it would be nice to be wrong. I agree, but Gordo will never hit in the middle of the lineup and have the opportunity that Crede had to swing for the fences. Still not sure he would hit 30 bombs but that's fine because that's not the player we need him to be. I would say 10-15 HR's and .270 with his defense will be just fine so long as we continue to have a solid all around line-up as we do this year.

Gordon Beckham vs. Joe Crede
QUOTE (pcullotta @ May 31, 2012 -> 12:06 PM) "Develop" into a career .254 hitter? As much as we all loved Joe Crede, his career stats with the bat are far from overwhelming. A fan favorite and great with the glove. Beckham is about the same type of player with more speed and versatility. We are all pulling for him to win gold gloves (as we were with Crede) and hit .280+ with 20 HR/season, but I just don't think it's going to happen. Of course, if we go all 2005 this year and Becks ropes doubles into the left field corner and continues his stellar D...then yes, we have ourselves another Joe Crede.

Rays vs White Sox 12:10 CST
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 30, 2012 -> 11:53 AM) If by odd you mean bad, you would be correct. He should get slaughtered. I have inserted Dayan Viciedo into the lineup for this one in fantasyland. That's what I was going to say, I think 10-12 MPH difference is what you look for, with 13 MPH difference being "ideal". I guess we shall see...hoping the Sox get on em early and SWEEEEP!!

GT: 4/16/12 Orioles @ Sox 7:10, The U
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) With Morel coming up there, you should have let that ball drop. Work around DeAza, better than giving up that additional run. Lincecum must really be hurting or upset about the Cain contract situation....already gave up 4 runs against PHI (at home) after getting blasted in his first start. Versus Halladay, sporting the 0.60 ERA coming into that game, had the looks of a pitcher's duel at one point. I agree, you learn that in pony ball....let it drop and save the run from scoring when you're already down 2 runs late in the game. PS...I really wish Hawk would stop calling Dayan 'Tanks'. Its TANK Hawk....he is only one man
