Sox interested in Yanks' Brett Gardner
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 08:24 PM) There isn't nearly enough of a sample size to start making statements like this. 789 innings? Really? yes

Sox interested in Yanks' Brett Gardner
He's among the fastest 2 or 3 guys in the majors, possibly the fastest and that translates to stolen bases bc he's good at that too. He's worth about a half win to a full win on the bases alone (a win = 10 runs above average). In the field, he is among the best center fielders in mlb. All the fielding numbers say he's top 3 CF minus his whack arm. He's pretty much a slap hitter, ops'd around .850 for his minor league career but that doesn't seem reachable in the bigs bc he can be over powered by fastballs. Overall 5 years of control of him would appeal to me a lot and I think the yanks under value him bc so much of his value is tied to his defense. he looks to be comfortably a 2.5-3.5 win player, which means he is a legit starting OF and upgrade for the white sox.

You have to be very excited about the 1-4 hitters, all hitting well and close to 300 (O-Cab red hot and on his way up) Thome showing Signs of heating up, Konerko hit the ball to the track every time and just missed a homer fould....Anderson nice to see, Alexei, and Crede staying decent

Racial History of Chicago White Sox
I am writing a research paper on the history of race in the white sox franchise, comparing it to the larger trends of baseball and the United States as a whole. If anyone has any information, or knows of good research tools to help me find stuff like: first black player, first hispanic player, fan reactions, player experiences, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

http://www.rivalfish.com/rivalroom/2007/07...zie-quotes.html (I'm sure you've all heard these) and this is a good read about '05: http://www.rivalfish.com/rivalroom/2007/06...-it-was-05.html Above is real funny, check it out. ALl about how team was misfits or career years. Not sure who author is, Peter Stein, but rivalfish.com looks like a cool site

If the Sox win and Indians, NY or Red Sox lose
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) If the Red Sox and Yankees both lose, and the Sox win, the Sox clinch a playoff spot. So far the first two parts of that equation look good Do teams celebrate or whatever for clinching the wildcard?
