Thought I was over it about 7:30 tonight then I turn on MLB network radio on the drive home and hear Hahn on there talking how he mashes like an .830 OPS or something against RHP and how he’s happy with the acquisition and he’s gonna go get some sushi for dinner just fired me up even more. Terrible terrible deal.

This is the type of move you make in February after they fail to deal with Boras, Sox fans have every reason to be pissed that you just plugged one of your main holes you were looking to address with a platoon right fielder when there are simply idk at least 3 players on the market you could have just signed and played there.

If this was the case then you would think they would have tried working a 3 team trade if you are getting at sending Mazara to Boston.

I wasn’t the one who said this offseason was crucial to open our window. I wasn’t the guy who said starting this next season the goal was to start winning and get to the playoffs. That word was mentioned by the Sox at the end of last season and going into this winter. Mazara does not accomplish this. He’s a bench player maybe on a contending team not a starter on one.

At that point you slam the window shut not extend it. As of right now the window is cracked open. It’s the GM and ownerships responsibility to kick that shit open and they are playing scared. #2ndplaceteams

My problem with this is this move is something a team looking to start a rebuild makes not a team looking to signal you are about over with the rebuild and are ready to win. Simple as that.

I don’t see the fit regardless of player’s position and being a left handed hitter, his stats are underwhelming and anything other than a fringe prospect would be an overpayment. I would rather take the wait and see approach then bring him in and give up a decent prospect for a guy who you won’t control for any real length of time

Best case scenario he explodes and walks in free agency 2 years from now, yet once again doing nothing for the window of contention, why that is so hard to understand I don’t know. When you can sign a for sure thing offensively and have them for the majority of your contention window without having to give up anything? The move makes no sense unless you are trying to be cute and save some money

Giving up anything of value for this guy when he’s simply been meh and is a free agent in 2 years, does nothing to push you into your contending window and will cost you your 2018 2nd round pick if the rumors are true. Terrible in just about every aspect other than he fills a position of need and is a left handed bat. Underwhelming acquisition at best

For being given the opportunity to play everyday in right field of all places and as part of a platoon package with Garcia it’s a bad deal
