If Robert starts the season with the club then I would imagine it is him. If he’s in AAA it will be Leury.

Remaining offseason. Since Castellanos is more than likely off the board, I would not mind bringing in puig to platoon with Mazara and yolmer back on a team friendly deal to start for a few weeks till Madrigal comes up he can be our super utility infielder. Trade Collins for some relief pitching, bring back Daniel Hudson and finish up the offseason with a Robert extension.

What is 5 mil going to get you? If you are that cash strapped with only 110 mil pay role, the team has more issues than who is playing backup catcher

Not saying his success is directly tied to McCann but if they have confidence in one another why fix what isn’t broken?

I personally do not want to see McCann go, I think him serving as Gios personal catcher is worth it.

If this ends up happening it’s exciting for the simple fact that you can pencil him into the DH spot and is a legitimate threat to go deep at any point. The first true DH we have had with power like that since the Adam Dunn experiment with no huge commitment to him moving forward.

Does that take AZ out of the castellanos sweepstakes?

This. I complained all damn season about not getting Machado but if you can get EE and add one of Castellanos, Puig or Ozuna it makes not getting Machado a blessing in disguise with what they have accomplished this offseason.

With who? The Whitesox? I’m not following. Obviously the Whitesox would know if they are in the running for Encarnacion, I don’t know how this has any benefit to signing NC any quicker

Garcia can’t do that? Just saying you have Mazara and then a combo of Leury and Engel essentially with the same role on the team. Get rid of engel sign castellanos and have Leury be your OF super sub on defense.
