It’s not just you, I feel like it has to be at least 8/275 but that’s just my hunch
-
I would prefer the Phillies not being involved anymore
-
Yeah I don’t expect the standstill to last much longer
-
I’m talking about pay raises automatically that would guarantee he stays in the top 3 if he decides to stay and not opt out is what I’m grtting at
-
No way they will lose any advantage they may have by taking a chance at pulling an offer off the table for the other whale
-
Could you do something along the lines with the writing in his contract that if after the first 3 years he doesn’t opt out his contract it guarantees to put him in the top 3 payroll wise every year there after?
-
I just hope that if they do land him his first opt out isn’t until year 4, it would suck to see the Whitesox start to get good and then see him walk at that point

2018-9 MLB off season free agency thread

https://mobile.twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1084593258360197127 anyone else think this is a HUGE mistake for owners? -
So I’m going to go out on a limb and say this thread hits 6,000 posts at a minimum, what’s the record people were trying to shoot for?
-
I see manny having a HUGE impact on Moncada and Jimenez when he comes up
-
Yes, but Harper will not field final offers until Machado signs, if we lock up Machado then you will see the Harper movements because even if Philly is the final destination they are going to want a) more money than what Machado gets b) final offers even from the whitesox to use against philly which is going to need to be more than Machados deal
-
I really don’t think they have to hurry, Harper is not signing no way no how before Machado. Boras knows the team that does not get him will get desperate, not to mention If manny signs with the Whitesox he knows we have room for Harper still and will use us to try and up the offer on philly
-
I just feel like it’s a laying in the weeds type of thing going on with him. They want Machado first and foremost but I don’t think the Whitesox have given up on the Harper front
-
I still think if the Sox can close the deal with Machado they will make a hard push at Harper trying to steal him out from underneath the Phillies, just got that gut feeling
-
Because it’s sunday at 3:18, just give it awhile till like 7 tonight till the next rumor comes out that the mystery team is the leader ? everything changes on an hourly basis
-
Sox need to wrap this up tomorrow! Bring it home RH!
-
It’s Sunday I doubt any real news will be reported until tomorrow, i would enjoy the break while we have it ?
-
The jury is still out on him, wouldn’t call him a success story
-
I’m going to go out on a limb and say it ends for Machado this week. It seems to finally be dying down and I don’t think Machados agent has much ammo left for posturing, hence the “mystery” team coming into the picture at the last minute.
-
It’s $ right now man, if he was going to the Yankees it would have happened already, a game of chicken at the moment, be patient, I don’t think anyone is just dieing to play for the Chicago Whitesox, get the money to where it needs to be and he signs
-
It’s going to affect the next 8-10 years of his life, waiting two months to get every last penny and the exact situation he wants is nothing is the grand scheme of things. We are talking about 2 generational talents here, uncharted territory for whitesox fans I know but even JD Martinez did not sign until spring training started last year.
-
Wow a day of no news and this thread goes bi polar and automatically thinks the Sox aren’t in a good position. Nothing and I mean nothing has come from this past week that has been negative from the press about the whitesox chances. In fact we got great news about the Yankees probably being out with the Le Mahieu signing. In my opinion we are in the drivers seat for now. Calm down folks, have faith good things will come.
-
In all fairness their infield defense was terrible and needed to fill the position, it just helps he is connected to Manny but I don’t think the coach moves the needle one way or another. The stupid money would though.
-
Out of nowhere and under the radar? They have been linked to both quite frequently and at the forefront of conversations just like the Whitesox.
-
Any organization who has failed at landing the big fish and are legit contenders to land one now doesn’t move on, you would be a fool to do that. I get frustration but you’ve gone to the obvious and acquired his brother in law and work out partner to entice him to sign, you don’t get up from the table on a franchise changing player like this.
