QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) Guillen's time is up, no doubt about it. However, the idea that him continuing to bat Dunn clean up is holding this team back is ridiculous. Nothing Guillen has done has damaged this team as much as Dave Wilder, KW's best friend, being indicted. In fact, if you make a list of the five most damaging moves to this franchise since 2005 ALL of them would be on Williams. Yes, also the five best moves to. Because he's the GM. And listening to Ozzie on Thome was easily the most damaging.

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 06:42 PM) Fixed. I like greg, disagree with him sure, but I like the guy.

Trey Wingo just treated LeBron. "This isn't the encouragement buisness, it's the honest analysis buisness."

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) A manager is only as good as his bullpen. Then what's going on this year, last year, and '08?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) I can only go by what the article says on ESPN. If it was originally 1 sentence then the author messed up. I did read the first post in the thread, but because it did not match the article as posted on ESPN, I wasn't sure if the poster formatted it correctly. I never rely on a quote in a thread from an article because of people parsing, taking things out of context, so I went straight to the source. Gotcha, but yes, that was how it initially read.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) You'll note that the author broke it into 2 paragraphs. As Im sure you are aware, this indicates a break in thought, and youll notice that the paragraphs do indeed have 2 different thoughts. Paragraph 1, quote 1 is referring to Soxtalk and how sometimes you "have to have tough skin not to reply". He then moves onto a second paragraph, which indicates shift in thought. Youll notice that in the first paragraph references the specific, the second paragraph is general. Notice, "it gets kind of scare sometimes with the stuff people write", does not say "on the website" or make any reference to Soxtalk. I LOVE Jon Greenburg's tag. I wonder if I bump into him at Bears camp if that counts? But Badger, it was initially one paragraph. It's broken up now. If you bothered to read the first post in the thread, it read like this: It reads very different now that Greenburg has edited it, which is much appreciated.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 11:23 AM) Hey, maybe we could work something out with the Sun Times. They love that kind of stuff! You have now made me laugh twice in the span of 2 minutes.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) In the nicknaming game JoeCoolMan>Joe Cowley :lolhitting

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 07:47 AM) Good point. Ozzie is the one who is the media seeking attention lover. He has his own twitter, facebook page, blog, and website. Kenny wants nothing to do with the media. Who is Hollywood? Because Kenny makes bold moves that generally set up the team in win now mode. HOLLYWOOD. Cowley is obviously the worst nicknamer ever.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) So Soxtalk in the past few days has been accused of death threats and helped cause (or exacerbate) a bitter Twitter war. Anyone want to come up with some unfounded steroid rumors? I hear Ty Cobb was juicing.
-
Oh come on Jon Greenburg, you're normally top-of-the-line. Would it be that difficult to put "Edit: Since this article has been published, memebers of Soxtalk.com have contacted me to refute Ozzie Jr.'s claim that their site contains such slanderous and racist material."
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 04:39 AM) I think this site is losing that. Since we can't really say much more we find ways to indirectly insult certain members. Those f***ing Peyton Manning fans and their damn opinions. Other than Milkman not liking greg and Balta and SS2k5 wanting to punch each other in the faces with battle axes, this a pretty tame site as far as flare ups go. Oh, almost forgot about J4L's unwarranted evil pessimism and Felix loving him some Chris Paul.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 04:08 AM) Yeah, I never read any anti-Mexican stuff like that here at SoxTalk, in fact, the opposite is true, we were all hyped last year when we thought we had a shot at Adrian Gonzalez...someone here called OG an illiterate redneck, which was strange. BTW, SoxTalkers for the most part know where each latin sox player comes, exp, Lexi=Cuban, Santos and CQ=Mexican, Rios=PR and so forth... Jr. should check his facts. Juan D'Vaughn Pierre = Coffee, Alabama. The Alabaman with Hispanic first name, African-American middle name, and French last name. God bless his parents for that wonderful name.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 01:49 AM) I doubt that happens. Whole staff needs to be purged. I rather like Coop.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 02:37 AM) The worst people do is when they really get mad they cuss out Ozzie in a thread but it's never come close to being racial. Not the rants against Ozzie. People have screamed for him to leave town but nobody has threatened to even punch Ozzie on here. Now the ESPN readers think soxtalk is full of racist crap which is untrue. And if there was a death threat on here, I'm sure the mods would notify the police which they'd have a right to do. Just doesn't happen. Yeah, while I like Oz Jr., he HAD to be thinking of somewhere else. I can't find anywhere to contact them.
-
QUOTE (Andrew @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 12:48 AM) Fine, I deleted it, but I meant every word. I can't wait for the day Ozzie and his BS (including kids) are gone, but a wife of an ex-sucky player writing in???? He DID suck. He was absolutly terrible. And wifey writes in to a fan forum to stand up for him... Good riddance to both - hopefully Ozzie and kids follow soon too. And he's still a human being.
-
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 12:51 AM) No. I'd rather they kept Ozzie before Larussa. Sandy Alomar Jr. or Dave Martinez please. Manager: Sandy Alomar Jr. Bench Coach: Robin Ventura Pitching Coach: Don Cooper Hitting Coach: Frank Thomas 1st Base: Harold Baines 3rd Base: Omar Vizquel (and if he follows Ozzie, put just about anyone here).
-
Er, Ozzie Jr...that comment wouldn't have been tolerated here. Different site. Yes, it's a fan site, so things get said. But you, you're generally respected around here, since you are 100% professional. Feel free to comment, you'll get mostly civil discussion (I can't vouch for everyone).

Erased my post since the original was deleted.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 11:09 PM) KW is only 47 and he put together a WS champion. Ozzie gets credit for managing that team but KW gets none for putting it together? They both have had a couple bad years, will need some time off, but will both get jobs and have a chance to succeed. Ozzie will get the first job in FLA, but just wait to see how he acts when his owner spends zero money. And relies on cheap, YOUNG, players. And no fans.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) Once again, Randy with the post of the thread. Those are indisputable facts. KW would never ever be offered another GM job; Oz will be a manager until he decides not to be a manager. No brainer indeed. He'd be offered a manager spot by the Marlins. That's it. No where else would TOUCH Ozzie. Kenny wouldn't be a GM again right away, but I could easily see Kenny being put in charge of a team like the Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, and Mets if they had openings.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) Great. Only I just can't overlook the little fact that Hollywood has assembled an expensive mediocre team. Expensive team that Ozzie is managing poorly and could be better and easily in first place with a top of the line pitching staff and the top bullpen, but a lineup of underachievers that Ozzie puts in position to fail. Also, Ozzie is way more "Hollywood" than Kenny.
-
QUOTE (gatnom @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) One can only hope that that if statement isn't true. What.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/08/cent...illen-soto.html http://sports.yahoo.com/video/player/news/...nDepth/26116801 JR is loyal to a fault, but I can see this being Ozzie's undoing. Going to Reinsdorf with such arrogance appears to be a death wish.
