Both happy and sad about this. Wish it was an olympic sport, cause then I'd be all for him playing.

Frank and Konerko
I'm assuming this is in prime, in which case Frank all day, every day, twice on Sundays, and I'm inventing a new day just to take him another day. Pre-prime....still Frank. Post prime and it gets interesting. That being said, on the Sox all time roster... 1B) Paulie DH) Frank

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) I think alot of the surprising success from the pitching staff came from Cotts and Politte. Who had two shut down middle relievers who had unbelievable career years and they happen to do it together on the same team. The starters knew that these guys would shut anything down if they came into the game. This has always been the part of the team that has amazed me. Even crazier due to the fact that they never really did anything special any other year.

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 08:51 PM) Playing small ball against the bulls is a n00b move I like how we match up against the Heat this year for that exact reason, with Rose healthy of course. And Deng ate Melo's Honey Nut Cheerios.

Also, in case anyone has noticed, Oden is attempting a comeback. I'd love for him to backup Noah, but I doubt he'd last long.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 12:21 PM) I said maybe they will finish ahead of the Sox. Yes, I do believe they have some very nice young talent, that I wish were on the Sox. Shields, Davis, Santana and Guthrie wasn't there for a full year last season. That rotation is hot garbage.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 11:58 AM) They're stars. If the Sox had Perez, Moustakas, Gordan, Butler, Escobar, Herrera, Holland Crain over what the Sox have now, you would be fighting for those players. No, they're not. Can at least ONE of them other than Billy Butler be an All-Star first before being labeled stars?

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 11:45 AM) you forget about Butler. Moustakas will be better than Keppinger in the next 3 yrs Escobar & Cain are on the rise Perez will be one of the top catchers in baseball You didn't say DH. We said the same thing about Gordon. We said the same thing about Gordon. We said the same thing about Flowers.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) Until billy beane has to pay said future and trades them away for another great future He'd never do that. Just like the Marlins would never try to build a contender through free agency and then fire sale.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) I'd take Herrera over Crain, Collins over Thornton, Holland over Reed and Davis over Floyd And I'd take Sale and Quintana over pretty much their entire starting rotation. I'll take Reed, who is younger, over Holland as well, especially considering they're relievers and had almost identical stats aside from Reed having way more saves and a higher ERA while Holland had more strikeouts and walks.

The bullpen phone is dead
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 11:34 AM) I'd be surprised if the bullpen phone was anything but an internal/closed-circuit system, more like an intrabuilding intercom. What would they need an actual phone for, ordering pizzas mid-game? This is what I always assumed as well.

Non Roster Invites
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 11:29 AM) I'd take their 3B, SS, C, 1B, CF, and LF over what we have at those positons Can we wait until they all do something? Hosmer had a Beckham-esque Sophomore slump. Escobar had his first good year last year and is far from a "star". Moustakas wasn't that hot last year, unless a sub-.300 OBP is a star. I'll take the 24 year old Viciedo over the 29 year old Alex Gordon who had to take five years to figure it out. Not young either. What about Lorenzo Cain screams "better than De Aza" or "young" or "star" or anything other than "serviceable." I'll give you Salvador Perez, but he's not exactly a star either.
