  1. Don't bunt here now with the guy already in scoring position. Can't give them an out when we've been struggling so much.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) Ventura's managed two very bad games the last two days. Yes. I wasn't on here lastnight. I was watching from home. But letting Gavin start the 8th at about 120 pitches was awful. The squeeze is what it is...but the Cespedes hit is the difference in the game right now. Pitching to him there was Ozzie s***.
  3. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:11 PM) If we get shut out again I cant wait to hear the reactions from some people on here. Oh well...the great 1993 Sox team was shut-out 4 times in their first 17 games. Just thinking positive.
  4. Cespedes hit hurt. Really no reason to pitch to him there. Like the Adam Jones bomb last Thursday.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 03:57 PM) Alexei's been almost Morel bad so far this season (not totally unexpected, it is April). If he was anywhere near Morel bad this year I would have been fine with a bunt. Alexei is hitting over .100 better...
  6. I hate bunting there with Alexei. Guy is already in scoring position and we are giving them an out for a guy(Dunn) who we all know strikes out a ton. Would have let Alexei swing the bat.
  7. Get on any way you can Morel. Would be nice for Escobar not to lead off the 6th.
  8. QUOTE (KG#1 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 03:15 PM) I think they need to try out Rios leading off and De Aza in the two-spot - I think thats what you had suggested before. Get some guys on base for Dunn, Konerko and A.J. Just hit AJ second. DeAza AJ Rios Konerko Dunn Alexei Viciedo Becks Morel Viciedo off-days DeAza Fukudome Rios Konerko Dunn AJ Alexei Becks Morel That would be my perfect order.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) Well, that was more on Cespedes for oversliding the bag/poor technique. Still...I just can't believe after the last few seasons that the Sox have only surrendered 2 SB's this year. Baserunning turned so many 0 innings into 1's, 1's into 2's etc. etc. over the last few years.
  10. The improvement in holding/throwing out baserunners this season has been nothing short of phenominal.
  11. Damn it Morel. 3 hits in the inning and no runs. That's kind of a downer.
  12. Make that 4 balls...apparently MLB.TV is on a bit of delay as southsider2k5 playing the roll of spoiler.
  13. Three balls killed in this inning. Hopefully we'll get a run to show for it.
  14. Not a great match-up IMHO for the Sox. Colon has that fast ball that starts outside and moves over the outside part of the plate...I could see a bunch of our guys having a real rough time with that pitch.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2012 -> 06:18 PM) Also happy to see them not blow up after yesterday's excitement. Sox lost 6 of 7 after the perfecto in 2009. Lost the first 3 of a four game series in Detroit. After that point, they never recovered.
  16. QUOTE (SI1020 @ Apr 22, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) Exactly. It's way too early to tell if any of the questions have been answered. True...but I think we've seen enough out of Rios to know that he isn't going to hit in the .220's and enough out of Dunn to see that he isn't gonna be in the .150's...don't need Alex at .330 or Adam at .250 to be a contending team. Just need them to not be two of the worst players in baseball. Although two other players have taken their place...
  17. Should be some more good pitching in Oakland...and hopefully Boston is still tanking when they come in. 9-6...with this teams expectations...it feels really good right now.
  18. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 22, 2012 -> 06:02 PM) It's April 22nd guys. There are 162 games in a season, lets pump the brakes one way or another. Just enjoy the team doing well right now and lets take it day by day. I'll agree with that. I told myself that I wasn't even gonna look at the standings this season...I was just gonna try to enjoy game-by-game.
  19. I thought coming into the year that if the Sox were bad we were gonna know it QUICK. Well, 15 games in and this team isn't bad. There were so many questions coming in, but 70% of those questions have come back with positive results. Question marks coming in: Bullpen=Good Dunn=Good Rios=Good Beckham=bad Morel=bad Robin=Good Viciedo=no so good yet Sale=Good Humber=Good A lot of the questions have been answered already.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2012 -> 05:47 PM) I didn't think so. I loved that roster coming into the season and had many drunken rants to that effect. That was the most complete roster the Sox had sported any year since 1994. I agree. I was cautiously optimistic going into 2005.
  21. We have two human rally-killers at the bottom of the line-up today.
