  1. QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:26 PM) Watching Beckhams AB on game day, saw in play, outs. Thought to myself, based on pitch position and count, thats an infield pop out. Way too predictable. I felt the same way about Rios last year with his groundballs to shortstop and pop-ups to the right side.
  2. Another good inning for Danks. Getting closer to quality start territory.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) I'm not going to fault the guys hitting .170 for it. They can't even hit the ball when it's in the middle of the plate...we don't need them trying to foul off pitchers pitches off the corners. The established hitters that are actually good, yes, I agree with you. I know that you and I have been around and around on this...all I'm gonna say is that our young guys aren't hitting .170's because they are getting screwed by the umps. They are hitting .170's because they have zero clue how to protect the plate with 2 strikes. If we're giving guys a free pass to take pitches just off the plate with 2 strikes for the simple fact that they suck at hitting pitches down the middle...then we have a huge problem.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:07 PM) Our hitters really have to learn how to foul off tough 2 strike pitches. They leave themselves to the umpire's mercy an awful lot. I say this and I get b****ed at. It's so damn true. Pitches are just too damn close to take...I don't care if it's just off the corner.
  5. You don't see more of a gift-wrapped run than what we just saw...we'll take it.
  6. John is getting really bad about giving up runs right after the offense just gave him a lead.
  7. Nice piece of hitting there by AJ...big two runs out there.
  8. If you can take any positives out of the game... Adam Dunn managed to get on-base 3 times in a game where a LHP started. This would have been completely unheard of last year. Dayan showed signs of life. A couple of hits including a home run. Stewart and Ohman managed to save the A-team bullpen for the rest of the series. Other than that...nothing. The Sox got to the Boston bullpen by the start of the 7th, but managed to get shut down by a pitcher who had only pitched 2 innings all year coming in. Tazawa went 3 scoreless innings to finish it off. Morel and Beckham just continue to be, well...Morel and Beckham. I was hoping, if nothing else, that this game would kind of deteriorate into a mild slugfest where Boston doesn't feel threatened, and leave some unfocused pitches out over the plate so we could see what it would look like for Gordon Beckham to hit a ball hard somewhere. That never happened though.
  9. What really should have been a nice evening for Konerko and Humber turned into something kind of sad and depressing...and that was before the game got out of hand.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 10:10 PM) Except if he was playing 3B or 2B for the White Sox, then he'd be hitting .171 with Escobar-esque power. So correct. We'll probably see it first hand in a few years.
  11. Looks like Tazawa is gonna go ahead and finish us off...fine by me. I've watched the Red Sox this year and he looks to be about the only reliever they have that gets people out.
  12. Sox have had plenty of baserunners tonight. Just can't do anything with it.
  13. "that is a tough error"...come on Hawk. Seriously?
  14. If Zach can finish this one off it would be a nice contribution for him and Ohman to save the rest of the bullpen for the rest of a series that will surely involve plenty of relief innings.
  15. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) I guess we gave up. He's gotta pitch sometime. Better now than in a tight one. Good inning Zach.
  16. 17 hits now for Dunn. 49 more to reach last years total.
  17. So...why don't the Red Sox ever pitch this guy? 2 innings coming in.
  18. Why is Hawk recapping the scoring? Not tonight please.
  19. Ohman having a couple of good days. An inning of scoreless relief yesterday, and now a couple tonight. Way to go loogie.
