With the Phillies and Padres.... Sox fans get slurpees

I'm afraid I might have already lot my head somewhere in this thread.

I have a couple really close lifelong friends in SD, both huge baseball fans. They categorically hate the Padres (but are still hometown fans by default), calling out specifically the outwardly-facing perceived philosophy of the franchise... not dissimilar from your comments. The fans meme about how the Padres are the team you call when you need to get rid of a bad player, a bum prospect or a long contract. Too bad they called us to get rid of Shields. #puketag Someone said if the Sox sign Harper and Machado, they'd eat their hat. If Machado chooses the Padres over the Sox, I'll eat mine.

I already updated my The Show rosters with Manny AND Harper, so this had BETTER HAPPEN. RickyGM, you've been put on notice, bud.

San Diego didn't trade for or sign out of free agency, Manny's entire college fraternity like the Sox did (figuratively speaking, of course). I think we're safe.

I hope when this is all over, SoxTalk can collectively meet in the rightfield bleachers and all share a moment of reflection together, to help us all regain our sanity. Maybe even the Sox marketing or PR team(s) could lead an axiety awareness campaign, and use their own fanbase to help raise awareness of this serious issue. #ANXIETY

The problem I have is... IF the Sox sign Machado, do the Sox then have to keep trading for and signing his Miami buddies? At what point can they "move on" from the whole kindergarten "put the new kid in a class with people he knows" nonsense....

If you go on the Rawlings web site and look up the Machado pro model glove for sale, its the exact same model as what's in the pictures, but obviously with white/black leather and laces.

What did you think of AJ Pierzynski and his stature as a major league hitter? Was he also garbage? Statistically, Collins is better offensively based solely on MiLB numbers. AJP had 2500 minor league plate appearances before he was called up, with a .739 OPS. Collins has had roughly HALF the PAs (in a park that is known to suppress power) and has posted a .805 OPS. Better write him off though, because ya know... batting average is the only offensive statistic that matters.
