so this now brings up the question whethere Peavy stays on schedule or does he get bumped to one of those Jays games?
-
Can some1 clarify the rain delay rules.... so if this game gets called off do they just resume play of bottom of the 4th on another day or do they start the game completely over again?
-
We will definitely be seeing Peavy's season debut next week at Los Angeles.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 12:39 AM) Tannerfan, the team is playing bad baseball. We have a right to be in mild panic mode. We know it's early, but we also know good and bad baseball when we see it. Chicago fans are smart fans. Yes the offense should be amazing this summer, which is a positive. Yea the team isnt playing great but put it this way like how even Gordon mentioned after the game ... if this is the worst we are going to play then that's pretty good. We are going through some tough times with the Bullpen struggles and poor defense. But that willl all come around b/c the talent is definitely there.

I m kinda new to this board but is it always like this? It isnt bad or anything to you know have debates about opinions but if it gets to a point where its the norm and where the topics are hillarious like the one we had today about Dunn then yea.....

QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:56 PM) I never said anything to the contrary. You're all reading wayyyyyyyyy too much into what I've said. If you like facts, how about these? FACT: Dunn strikes out a lot. FACT: Dunn doesn't manufacture runs. FACT: Dunn clogs up the bases FACT: Dunn will NEVER compete for a batting title. FACT: Dunn HAS NEVER won 81 or more games in a season. FACT: Since adding Dunn, the team's defense has gotten considerably worse. FACT: Dunn CANNOT bunt at all. None of this is disputable, and it is the exact reason why we need to drop this dead weight sooner rather than later. okay a few facts are correct while others are not. Dunn does manufacture runs, it is true that the defense has been worse since Dunn has came but how does he contribute to the poor defense is what i dont understand. Why would any1 ask Dunn to bunt? It is not like I see any other team's sluggers bunting either/

QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:49 PM) Kind of sad when you threaten me to not personally attack anyone, then promptly ignore it when others do the same to me. No one is attacking you personally we are just speaking facts here.... yes you were correct more often than not Dunn will be heading back to the dugout but more often that not won't all the MLB players be doing so as well?
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:45 PM) Really? I mean, really? His OBP is over .500? Anything under .500 means that you are getting out more often than you're getting on-base. So no, more often than not, he'll be out. Well ya if you wanna speak in explicitly in those terms then ya More often than not not only Dunn, but Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, Ichiro Suzuki, Joey Votto will all be heading back to the dugout then
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:42 PM) Fact of the matter is that Dunn is just another lift and pull player. He'll get lucky on some dingers, but more often than not he'll be walking back to the dugout with his head down. A specialty of the Walker era as hitting coach. More often than not he ll be getting his way on base... just as his OBP indicates

QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:28 PM) So what, we've learned he can hit a batting practice pitch from a joke of a pitcher? What's the big deal? Ya Weaver only leads the league in Ks, and had a 3.01 Era last yr (let alone 0.87 Era and a 15 K performance against a good hitting Blue jays club) I ask you does that define a joke of a pitcher.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) Adam Dunn just told you that you are a f***ing joke Felix. , what better way than this.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) What's his average? K/PA? Hey we know what we are getting from Adam Dunn. You ask for a the average, and K/PA ya his avg is low and K/PA is higher than the league average well so are his HR, Runs, RBIs, BB, OBP, OPS.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:20 PM) This is without a doubt the greatest thread in Soxtalk history. The Carlos Gonzalez of all threads. Man oh man i just became a member of Soxtalk pretty much few weeks ago... pretty hillarious if you ask me, is this kind of thing the norm may I ask you?
-
QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:17 PM) Ever hear of mario mendoza? Dunn isn't even hitting at that level. Kinda pathetic if you think about it. Ya so are Pujols and Mauer.... real pathetic to even talk about this early on this season
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:13 PM) Yes, let's cherrypick stats that make him look good. 1 HR in 7 games (tonight's counts). Hrmmmmmmmmmm.. that's on pace for.. let's do the math here.. carry the one..... 23 this season. HE CAN'T HIT AL PITCHING. Just to let you know NL has far more quality arms than AL.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:11 PM) Ok, so let's talk about the month or two he'll give us before blowing out his elbow. He'll be erratic, still trying to find his control, and then he'll get hurt again. We cannot depend on him in the future. False... the fate of the White Sox title chances land heavily on Peavy.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:09 PM) ... Have you not read anything I've said? What would give you that idea? Dunn simply isn't the type of player we need if we want to win the AL Central. He's not a team player and he's just going to hurt our offense. We need players that can manufacture runs, not players that butcher opportunities. I dunno what makes you say that. He has 1 Hr, and 5 Rbis in 6 games that he has played with a .414 OBP. What is so horrible about that?
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) That was more about a healthy Peavy than anything. Isn't it obvious that we aren't going to get that? KW was fleeced. It happens. Let's move on and hope for a brighter tomorrow. And a brighter tomorrow can only be a roster without Dunn. You simply cannot write off a guy based on what happened last yr. The guy is simply too talented to not talk about success.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) Can we bring Frank Thomas back from the grave too? Hell, let's sign Barry Bonds while we're at it. Isn't he still a FA? And why do you think the team won't win 90 games? I know there's the concern of the bullpen but I am confident things will get ironed. But wat is u reason to believe the team will not win 90 games. And your counter argument has no relevance to what i said.
-
QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 09:57 PM) listen. This isn't about "led your team" to anything do you think Dunn > Kotsay? If so, it's a net win for us, end of story. We won 88 games last year, so if all stays even, and we add Dunn, that potentially to - dare I say - 90 wins. Say it with confidence my friend .... this team can definitely win 90+ games with the addition of Dunn and having a healthy Peavy.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) When was the last time Dunn led his team to the playoffs, let alone a World Series title? Don't worry, I'll wait. Dunn was playing on some horrible teams, One guy cannot simply lead a team into playoffs in the game of baseball. Your arguements just totally ignore players talent and just look at the teams overall success. Never has or will one player simply single handedly lead a team into the postseason in MLB. With your arguments then I guess we will just write off the great careers of players (who btw are Hall of Fame bound) like Carlos Delgado and Jim Thome just to name a few simply due to the fact they have never won a World Series.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) Really? Look at Garret Anderson. Dude had a great start to his career, WAS AN MVP CANDIDATE, led his team to a World Series title, and once he turned 32, his offense disappeared. Dunn isn't half the player that Anderson was, I'm afraid to see what happens in the next four years. Please tell me your kidding right?

QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) Hey, personal attacks are against the rules of Soxtalk. Don't make me call a mod on you. Sorry just frustrated me how some1 didnt know the significance of #42 is baseball History. I didn't mean anything personal and I apologize if it offended you.
