  1. Sox tend to announce roster moves mid-afternoon. I'm thinking we hear something 1-2 hours from now.
  2. ND moves their neutral site games around the country though, on top of playing home-and-home series with teams all over the country. The SEC teams ALWAYS play their non-conference games at or close to home. All the other conferences are willing to venture outside their home territory at least some of the time. Go pull up the SEC schedules for the last five years and I doubt you can find more than a half dozen games played outside the south.
  3. Except that in the Bible the sexual act is the sin and not the marriage. And since we all know how much less sex there is once you get married, she'd be helping them out by issuing the licenses.
  4. I understand that, but it seems like the county should have some kind of option for doing work that an elected official is refusing to do. A judge ought to have the authority to either remove and replace her, or at least give somebody the authority to issue the licenses in order to protect the county from liability.
  5. Marrying? No, but wanting to bang them? Sure. Or is there a different age standard for marriage than for consensual sex outside of marriage?
  6. Need legal experts to weigh in here: Do the couples who are getting denied licenses have grounds for a civil suit for damages? If so, isn't it in the county's best interests to find somebody to issue the licenses if she won't? It seems that, by doing nothing, the county is passively supporting her.
  7. That's why state legislatures meet every year, because times change and laws become outdated.
  8. I'm sorry, that's just messed up. Did the people who passed these laws not have 16-17 year old daughters?
  9. Pretty good analysis of how things are likely to play out a month from now: https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-...nment-shutdown/
  10. That's good to hear. For several years now, ND has been asking SEC teams to do a home and home series and the SEC teams have been countering with a "neurtral" site game in a southern state. Georgia finally agreed to do the home and home with ND.
  11. You get little or no less spotlight playing the game up north, and you have a much better chance of winning.
  12. Very small chance he would be able to help the Sox, but with two open spots on the 40 and rosters expanding today, there's very little risk in giving him a shot. Can always cut him at the end of ST next year.
  13. Regardless of whether or not the 16/17 year olds were doing this on their own or had a pimp/trafficker, they are exploited in the sense that they aren't of the age of consent (maybe 17 is legal in some states) and the "customer" is exploiting them whether or not he had to pay.
  14. Sox are 29th in the league in walks. There's no reason to throw strikes to about 2/3 of the lineup. Even Abreu's walk rate is way down.
  15. I wish more things had that kind of rule attached to it. Besides, if the people of Ohio really want something named after McKinley that badly, why don't they name their tallest mountain after him?
  16. You're missing my point. Just being better than Avi has been this year is not a high enough standard to set for 2016 if the Sox expect to field a contending team.
  17. Right, but "enough" is a higher amount if the Sox believe they are contending within the next couple years than if they don't. Put Robertson and his contract on a team like the Marlins, Phillies or Rockies and "enough" is a lot less than if he's on the Sox.
  18. Anderson isn't on the 40 yet and doesn't have to be put on it this winter in order to be protected from the Rule 5, so unless you think it's likely he is going to make the team next April, you waste an option year next year by adding him to the roster now.
  19. Probably isn't enough work to go around for five additional pitchers. Three yes, and maybe four. But you don't want to pay a full month's salary to guys who are only going to get in a couple innings work.
  20. As bad as they have been this year, this team has too much going for it to believe they will be a non-competing team for the entire length of that contract.
  21. Robertson is performing much, much better than Rios was when the Sox claimed him, plus the Sox are not nearly as strapped for cash as the Jays were. Not a real good comparison point.
  22. Carroll, both Johnsons, Brantly and Leury. Probably Beck if Putnam isn't going to come off the DL as soon as he's eligible.
  23. A MI prospect who can actually his is like gold. You can always move him to 3B or a corner OF, or bump one of your other MI prospects to one of those spots if the new guy is better defensively.
