Apparently there's a massive AT&T wireless outage right now. Most/all of the Evansville, Louisville, Lexington, Cincinnati, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville and Huntsville markets affected.

I'm not entirely sure what PP is doing is illegal. It's horrible, awful and disgusting, but I don't know for sure that it's illegal.

Except Darren Wilson. His life has been ruined due to all the lies.

He's great for one Sunday every April at least.

None of that matters. The far right tea party faction of the Republican Party has made Obamacare enemy #1. If you don't come out as 100% against every single provision of Obamacare and pledge to vote to defund it every single one of the 416 times it comes up for vote, you have no future in the party. Kasich recently said that he would keep the Medicaid expansion portion of Obamacare and replace the rest. That sealed his fate right there. If he ever gets high enough in the polls to matter, he will get pasted with ads painting him as in favor of Obamacare.
-
The biggest problem is that most Republican primary voters don't think those things are dumb.

I think the Koch brothers and other very rich and very conservative people are going to make sure somebody pretty far right gets this nomination. I think Walker is their guy.

1. No (at least not me) 2. 1) Kasich -Very large gap- 2) Gilmore 3) Paul 4) Bush 5) Christie -Large gap- 6) Rubio 7) Jindal 8) Pataki -Large gap- 9) Perry 10) Fiorina 11) Graham 12) Carson 13) Huckabee 14) Trump 15) Walker 16) Santorum 17) Cruz I'm not voting for Hillary no matter what. The question then is which Republicans do I like enough to get my vote over a 3rd party candidate, and right now it's the Top 5 on my list, but I'm starting to get very iffy on #5. It sucks that Kasich really has absolutely no chance. I think he'd make a great President.

Sox have tried to sign Samardzija to a long term deal
cabiness42 replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Even after his disaster last night, he is still 13th in the AL in fWAR. Yes, there is a limit to how much the Sox should offer him, but they aren't likely to get anybody better. -
You know what, it doesn't matter a single bit how racist Wilson is. In that particular instance, forensics + reliable eyewitness testimony + existing laws = Wilson should not have been charged in that shooting. The standard for justification of deadly force in self-defense does not change on a sliding scaled based on how racist the shooter is.
-
Sox are VERY unlikely to get an offer that is better than the comp pick. Now that we're into August, teams don't have to bid against each other. One team will win the claim on Samardzija, and they will probably lowball their offer.

Jared Fogle/Subway scandal...presumption of guilt?

He made his living telling people not to eat donuts. You didn't think the cops would eventually go after him? -
Cespedes to the Mets according to Levine

Translation: We're not desperate so if you want to dump salary you're not going to get much out of us. -
If somebody rivals the package that Detroit got for Price, then yes, trade him, but I don't think anybody is going to offer that much.

Exactly why I never carry more than $500 cash anywhere I go. The law is horrible but as a poker player I can tell you those poker players are just sloppy. There are plenty of means of getting your bankroll from home to an event site without hauling it all in your car in cash, unless the cash was winnings they weren't planning on claiming as income, in which case they kinda got what they deserved.

My cousin is an Indiana state cop. They don't have any quotas, but any time they are on duty and not specifically assigned to a case, their job is to make as many stops as possible. An awful lot of serious crimes are discovered via stops for minor traffic infractions. Some of the biggest busts he's had have started with broken taillights.

Cardinals sign a billion dollar TV deal
cabiness42 replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
Since the advent of the DVR, commercials on sporting events get more views than other TV shows, because sporting events are more likely to be watched live. I can't tell you the last time I watched a commercial during anything other than a sporting event or the local news. Everything else gets DVR'd and the commercials fast-forwarded. -
More evidence of Chicago media turning on Ventura
cabiness42 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I know there is a lot of season left that could mess this up, but Quintana started game 99 last night and Sale is starting game 100 tonight so that would put them on pace to start games 159 and 160 which would give mean either Quintana starts the WC game on 4 days rest or Sale starts on 3 days rest. -
Having Saladino and Sanchez both able to play 2B/SS/3B makes carrying a third catcher realistic. A utility infielder like Bonifacio was more necessary when the roster had Gillaspie and Johnson, who could each only play one IF position.

I went to a restaurant that serves 'breakfast at any time', so I ordered French toast during the Renaissance.

I don't want to be a wet blanket, but this 7-0 run has come against two really, really awful teams. I want to see the Sox take a series from Tampa or NY before I get too excited.

Gomez is an upgrade, but not really an impact bat. I wouldn't give up much for him.
