  1. When is Kenny Williams going to change his philosophy that it's smarter to develop your own players financially. Dunn, Rios, Teahen, Pierre, Peavy, Pena, etc. are examples wasting away money through trades, free agents, and waiver pick ups. Why not put $5-8 million towards the draft and international signings it will save you ten's of millions of dollars in the long run.
  2. We are less than a week away from the signing deadline is there any news about getting any of our remaining draft picks signed.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 04:53 PM) Then you lump that in with Peavy, Humber (lack of workload again) and even Stewart, who was a reliever/closer not so long ago in the Reds' system. There's just so many things that can go wrong with a rotation that would be incredibly iffy to begin with ... assuming the departures of Buehrle and Danks. Stewart IP 2008-80 2009-105 2010-136 2011-117 so far Looks like he'll finish at in the 150-170 range if she stays in the Sox rotation. Maybe they can get away with his as the fifth starter. Time will tell. The proper way to handling a young pitcher is gradually go up around 30 innings each year anything more your taking a huge risk. Look how Matt Latos is doing this year with the Padres. They abused him last year. If Stewart pitches 160-170 innings this year. Then he should be good for 190-200 innings for our 5th starter and that would work, but I think Kenny is counting on him to be more than a 5th starter.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) Last year counts as Junior College? This kid put 140 innings on his arm 2 years in a row in college and held together. It's crazy not to give him a chance to start. Counting on Sale for throwing 140-150 innings as a starting pitcher would be a mistake. Sale will need plenty of time at least 2 years to build up his arm strength to pitch 180-200 innings in a season.
  5. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) Keenyn Walker Keenyn_Walker Keenyn Walker Headed to the ER. Mighta broke my hand cuz the pitcher can't throw a damn strike! Best part about it was the ump is so bad he called it foul 2 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply Is this a joke?
  6. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 06:55 PM) Kendall Rogers KendallRogersPG Kendall Rogers by MDGonzales #CalStateFullerton will have one less arm next season. Pitcher Chris Devenski, a 25th-rdr to the #WhiteSox, has signed. #mlbdraft #MLB 4 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply Does this signing so close to deadline mean the White Sox went over the slot recommendation?
  7. QUOTE (beck72 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 07:44 AM) Mark has more value-on the field and in the clubhouse-for the sox than for other teams. Something should be done, along the lines of a PK contract. While he might be a nice addition for another team, his leaving would be a greater loss. The 6 man rotation has worked well for MB. Without it, his off-speed stuff and location would probably take a big hit. So would his ERA and effectiveness. This is something the sox should stick with for 2012, with Peavy and Humber needing that extra rest as well. I don't think having Paulie and Mark is helping in the clubhouse because its already pathetic with the man running the dugout. Ozzie has lost his team. I never seen so many players give up and show no energy and enthusiasm night in and night out. Time for a new manager to run the show. Ozzie has lost this team a long time ago when he let his idiot son's start bad mouthing his players with insider information.
  8. QUOTE (OilCan @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 11:03 PM) I know it's Low A ball, but... Dan Black...81 RBIs. Not too shabby. And that batting average is increasing. Might be ready for High A W/S. Dan Black is already 24 years old. He should be tearing up in Low A Ball. What stunted his development was trying him at catcher which wasn't successful. They need to move him up. Not consider a prospect at that age in Low A Ball.
  9. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:14 PM) Matzek is a complete and utter mess. Go look at his numbers. It shocked the hell out of me when I saw them earlier this season. Matzek mechanics are out of whack-walking everybody and only throwing 88-90mph. Value has gone way done
  10. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) Don't want Adroys Vizcaino he's pitching with a partial tear in his elbow. He's a surgery waiting to happen. They say its just a matter of time before he needs Tommy John Surgery very similar to the Adam Wainwright who pitched with a partial tear all of last year before being shut down late August. Injury information on Adroys Vizcaino before the season started. No dice-if you can get Brown, Kenny needs to pull the trigger http://www.talkingchop.com/2011/4/26/21345...ry-and-timidity
  11. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) I would be so down for a Arodys Vizcaino for Quentin move. Don't want Adroys Vizcaino he's pitching with a partial tear in his elbow. He's a surgery waiting to happen. They say its just a matter of time before he needs Tommy John Surgery very similar to the Adam Wainwright who pitched with a partial tear all of last year before being shut down late August.
  12. Gamel's defense is absolutely horrible. There is no chance he can play 3B or OF. The only position he can play is 1B. Jim Callis of Baseball America had him down as the worst 3b defensive prospect in the minors.
  13. I can't believe that's all it took to get Colby Rasmus.
  14. Frasor is Type B Free agent, but he has an option so that goes out the door because you have to offer him a contract to get compensation. We would of recieved a pick in 30's-40's in next years draft that would be better than Frasor/Cooper. Hopefully Kenny is going to use this money to go over the slot with our draft picks and signing some international players.
  15. We better be getting some pitching prospects that are MLB ready or very soon if we are thinking of trading Danks or Floyd. Buehrle is free agent, Peavy is a major injury waiting to happen, and possibly changing Sale back to a starter might be a mistake and lead to an injury. Look what has happened to Feliz this year since messing him up. Also, if you do change Sale to a starter at most he can pitch 130-140 innings next year.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:32 AM) Brett Lawrie is the only name that would make me less than dissatisfied. Lawrie is untouchable
  17. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:23 AM) The sox can make trades and still be competitive-it's not all or nothing. A youth movement means a rebuilding that would take years for them to compete. In the AL Central, the sox could trade half their major league roster and still compete in the Central. I agree Cooper is not considered a Top Prospect even though he's tearing up Triple A. He's hitting in the best offensive minor league ballpark in Las Vegas. Toronto's Triple A team is batting .304 in Las Vegas. Cooper is a bench player at best.
  18. In the next labor negotiations which will start this offseason their is already talk about getting rid of Type B compensation. Type A/B Compensation for free agents will be changed because do you think anyone in the league agrees that you should get a supplemental first round pick for Jason Frasor.
  19. We are also forgetting besides giving up Dan Hudson-Kenny threw in Dave Holmberg who would be our top pitching prospect in the minors he's added 4-5 mph on his fastball and is now a Top 100 prospect in all the minors. This trade better not be true-salary dump.
  20. Love that we finally got our first high school pick and we went over the slot. Hopefully this is a sign that trades will be happening on the big league roster and we could spend some money on the rest of our draft picks, international players, and get infusion of prospects from the deals. We need to build up our farm system. Spending too much money on trades and free agent pickups: Dunn, Rios, Peavy, Teahen, Ohman, Pierre, E. Jackson and the list goes on. We need to start developing our farm system so it will save us money in the long run.
  21. Does anyone know what Ian Gardeck is asking for to sign?
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) Hey, honestly, I'd have a pretty positive outlook on our future with both Rasmus and Beckham in the fold. That's two guys who are going to figure it out and be a part of really good future White Sox teams. This is what drives me nuts. Everyone heard "all-in" so they think the future means dick. The White Sox supposedly can land Colby Rasmus. My God, this is a kid who projects to hit .280 with 30 bombs and 30 steals yearly... he's had a 133 OPS+ season and is still just 24. The room to grow is apparent, and a change of scenery would do wonders for him. Ugh, if the Sox pass on the chance to get him, I'll be very upset. However, I feel this "rumor" is just that, because if this offer is on the table and Kenny passes? Pish, bye bye baseball for me. I just don't think this rumor has any truth to it. Kenny Williams deals either happen or they don't. You NEVER hear a peep about them prior to the trigger being pulled. That alone makes me think this ain't goin' down. He wasn't very quiet when he went after Peavy.
  23. The prospect Cardinals are after is Addison Reed. Check it out on their message boards. Jackson, Thorton, and Reed for Rasmus. I'd try not to give up Reed because I think he will be Thorton's replacement if a trade is done. Reed is too valuable.
