  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 14, 2016 -> 06:50 AM) Matt Bush.. what a story. I remember getting into prospects and the draft back in 2004 on this board and that was the first draft I was keen on and followed at the futuresox board. Crazy how these 12 years flew by.. Did I miss something on Matt Bush? I mean, if he's some reformed dude who's learned his lessons, escaped his demons, and now going to live out a few years of MLB sunshine, that's great. I'll totally and wholeheartedly root for him. But I haven't seen or read about any sort of reformation. All the news I have on the guy is that he's a douche. I'm pretty sure I heard the Rangers announcers describe him last night as "humble". This is a dude who beat a high-schooler with a golf club a few years back, screaming "I'm Matt f***ing Bush!" And of course, he ran over an elderly man's head with an SUV while drunk. Maybe I'm being a scold, but I just figure I would have seen articles talking about his release and how he's a changed man and he's seen the errors of his ways, yada yada yada. The dude has had second chances before, and he always reverts to his old ways. I want to like the guy, I want to root for him (especially with him being a member of my second team) but I want to see that he can actually avoid being a dick.
  2. Let's do it again, behind a guy who would be the best pitcher on 20+ teams. f*** the Yanks, GO SOX!!!!!
  3. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ May 13, 2016 -> 05:42 PM) Well they got them on gigantic contracts. I'm sure they regret it now. I'm so glad we don't do that.
  4. My Rangers fan wife just saw Mark Teixeira and asked if the Yankees were the retirement home of MLB. I told her that, between Tex, Beltran, CC and ARod, they are. Even McCann could probably fit in this category. I like having one old vet like Rollins on the team, but I have no idea how anyone can get excited about a roster with six of them.
  5. This is what Chris Sale is for. Forget the past, destroy these clowns and get back to our winning ways! GO SOX!!!!!
  6. Since the 1998 season, I've been to five Sox games, all in Chicago. We won one and lost one against Oakland in 2002, we lost two to Detroit in 2005 and John Danks beat the Yanks 7-1 last year. Excluding an exhibition game in Atlanta in 2010, this will be my first time ever seeing the White Sox in the enemy's ballpark. I am f***ing pumped. GO SOX!!!!!!!
  7. I'm only following on GameDay- is Gonzalez looking like a viable fifth starter or is he getting lucky?
  8. I've spent five days in Chicago in the last 18 years, so I don't give a s*** about the Cubs, but Arrieta will get a loss or a no decision today.
  9. It seems like Eaton and Rollins create a lot of RISP, 0-1 out situations, only to have Abreu and Frazier provide some terrible at bats. It'd be nice if those two could do their jobs and build on that momentum to give us some big innings.
  10. Wow. I think Avi's going to lose his job as the batter during whose plate appearances I take emergency leaks. Of course, Todd Frazier is doing his damndest to steal that job...
  11. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 7, 2016 -> 08:05 AM) Just looked at Fangraphs, Eaton now has a Defensive Runs Saved of 5. WTF? There has to be some sort of issue, right? His defensive bWAR dropped from 1.4 to 0.4 this morning too. If any SABR nerds know what's going on, I'd love to know.
  12. f*** Hannigan. Hit that little journeyman prick in his ear hole.
  13. We'll still be four up on CLE/DET/KC if nothing changes in this game. And we'll have the weekend to beat up on the Twins, which should pad that number. That said, this ought to be Erik's last straw. He's had starts over four years and seems to show no improvement. That's "adios", as I see it.
  14. MLB identified numerous problems with those tests, including that legal supplements could cause positive results. I don't think the claims against Ortiz are at all credible, and I'm not alone. The Clinton thing was an analogy to make my points about accusations. Not a comparison of the security of the two acts.
  15. If we're calling Ortiz a cheat because of the 2009 PEDs thing, we should probably discuss Bill Clinton being a rapist, too. Accused of the crime, but probably did not commit it. Let's lay off the dude.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 4, 2016 -> 08:40 PM) Are any of you guys going to see a Sox game in person in the near future? I might go on Saturday, not 100% sure yet. In Texas next Tuesday. The BP in Arlington is about six miles from my house. Don't know if I wanna watch the ninth. Not worried long term, but the bats have not shown up today. Which is a bummer, because Clay Buchholz could reasonably lose his job to John Danks.
  17. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 4, 2016 -> 08:14 PM) The mods/admins have been receiving a lot of complaints about the reactionary, doom and gloom posters who typically inhabit this game thread. You guys who know who you are. We understand its emotional and you're posting your immediate reactions, but you guys are driving a lot of good posters out. Please save the "this player sucks" or "f***" or "there goes the lead" or "a little girl could shutout our offense" as much as you can. Let's try to get intelligent conversation in here again. Oops. Please change my last comment to, "In my personal estimation, the broadcasting ability of Jason Benetti is below average. Listening to him makes me feel an urge to fold laundry."
  18. Benetti sucks. I actually enjoyed listening to Hawk's uber emotional, often angry broadcasts for the two decades that I've watched Sox baseball. Benetti's discussion of DRS and other advanced stats that I can just as easily read about is boring to me. I just find myself tuning out all of the noise. Also, Rodon seems very average thus far. Not exciting at all. I'm stoked to see the Sox in Arlington next week, but I hope that my calculation that he's on the mound is wrong. Especially with Danks gone.
  19. Not related to this game, but I'm super excited because, for my b-day, my wife got us tickets to the May 10th game vs. the Rangers in Arlington. Rodon pitching, I think? Of course, my wife is a Rangers fan, so when we pounded Noesi in the ninth a few years ago, and Oswalt a few years before that, I had to keep my usual excitement rather subdued. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that all of our blowouts come against the Rangers... Anyways, go Sox!
  20. Here's another fun fact: when we start anyone other than Rodon or Danks, the team is 16-1.

  23. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 30, 2016 -> 08:41 PM) In all seriousness - Sanchez is such a good defensive 2b that i would be fine with him being a MLB starting regular there if he could give me like a .710 OPS. I said I'd stop, but don't tempt me.
