5/24 - Indians (Tomlin) @ Sox (Sale) - 7:10 PM
The Sir replied to Dunt's topic in 2016 Season in Review
Meh. Chris Sale is allowed a s*** game. And it's just one game. Blowing the historic streak is no more meaningful than any other loss, even if it hurts more on a sentimental level. Avila, on the other hand, can go to hell. That laziness is unforgivable. Put that f***ing turd on the bench where he belongs. Oh, and just to continue with my Saladino Derangement Syndrome, nice soft groundout to P with RISP, loser. Join AA on the bench. Off to other things for my evening. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 24, 2016 -> 04:19 PM) So you want to bench guys for having one bad game? Don't think we could field a full lineup aftet last night I guess. And honestly, who do you want to see in there? Rollins??? No one else can play SS. One bad game? Have you looked at Saladino's entire body of work? Rollins has a significantly better OBP and OPS in a greater number of at-bats. Given that Tyler's numbers plummeted with increased exposure last year, I believe the same would happen this year if we let it go on. So that gap should widen. Also, despite his speed, Saladino's produced no steals, and been caught twice. Once due to an awful slide. His one advantage is defense, and I reject the notion that Rollins is so bad that his offensive superiority doesn't cover it. -
How many wins will Chris Sale have this season?

QUOTE (Real @ May 24, 2016 -> 03:52 PM) 17 wins is my guess After this start, that'd be horrid. -

QUOTE (flavum @ May 24, 2016 -> 03:00 PM) Eaton, Jackson, Frazier, Cabrera, Abreu, Lawrie, Garcia, Avila, Saladino Why is Saladino playing again? He wasn't useless enough yesterday? Ugh. -

QUOTE (soxfan85 @ May 23, 2016 -> 09:20 PM) Saladino will be one of those guys that is never very good. However, he will have 9 lives with the White Sox...just feels like one of those "guys. This. We need one of Saladino/Sanchez to ride the bench and rest Frazier/Lawrie/Rollins as needed. We do not need both. There's also no reason to have either of them in the 2-hole. Their OBP skills downright suck. The line of thought that Saladino should start over Rollins remains my least favorite on this board. Call up Anderson or stick with Rollins (which I favor), but Saladino would barely qualify as a starter in Atlanta. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2016 -> 07:52 PM) Face it, if the most talented player on offense is going to be their worst overall player, this team is going to finish in 3rd in the division. Not enough talent in the lineup to make up for Abreu being below average. Yeah, Abreu's staring to piss me off. He's been pathetic this year. -
I live about six miles from the BP at Arlington. It's an awesome park. Don't know why they'd replace it so soon.

Tim Anderson has walked five times in 35 games. With limited power, does anyone think he can come up here and put up even a .700+ OPS? How's his defense progressed? I know that used to be a weakness, and with all those things combined, it just doesn't seem like he'd be a high WAR player in MLB. There's too many red flags for me personally to be that high on him.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:31 PM) You do realize Saladino was a rookie last year correct? I think he deserves some slack. Rollins is 37 and declining, he will never be above 1.5 WAR again. Like I said earlier in this thread, I don't think we should cut Rollins at all but I do think Saladino should get most of the reps at SS. He is going to provide much better defense and at this point I think he can provide better offense. I don't know what fantasy land you live in but Rollins will never be close to his old self of even 2 years ago where he didn't even hit .245 Saladino doesn't even have some grand precedent to revert back to. He hit .224 last year. His bat, once given enough exposure, was putrid. I'm sorry, I just don't know where you're getting the idea that he will ever amount to anything offensively. With that, time for bed. Have a nice night. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:24 PM) Could we talk Torii Hunter out of retiring? What about a trade with the Braves who are going nowhere. Get AJP back and dump Avila. Acquire Francouer for some Class A non prospect. Or what about acquiring Markakis for a Class A stiff. I favor vets and loathe prospects (I'm the anti GreenSox), but each one of those guys would persuade me to find something else to do with my time. A possible exception for Markakis. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:19 PM) Saladino is nowhere near useless on this roster in fact right now he is our best option at SS on the major league roster. Saladino had a .267 OBP last year. Rollins, in his worst year ever, had a .285 OBP. He also had a .6 WAR, down from previous years at 3+. Saladino's not going to do that. Yes, his defense is better. But as far as I'm concerned, we need Rollins ' bat. He's struggled a bit so far, but even in those struggles he's far more potent than Saladino or Sanchez. -

The interference talk is aggravating. The runner goes back to first, Gattis homers, Sox lose. Why can't we talk about roster dead weight, which is going to haunt us far longer than this one irrelevant call? -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) So you a criticizing not using a guy who hasn't had an off day all year and has the flu and a guy who is responsible for 2 of our 4 runs tonight? Yes. Saladino's error was the difference. And I'm tired of accepting two generally useless guys who do more or less the same things, just because they do occasional good things. At most, we need one of Saladino or Sanchez here. We do not need both. -

Enough about the umps. We lost this game. Albers can't finish innings anymore, Abreu has consistently failed to be a dangerous run producer, we played an absurdly weak lineup against a tough pitcher and we failed to use Frazier. Should have used him in the ninth, where he could have ended it or continued the threat, which Saladino's much celebrated SF did not do. This is on us. Not an ump. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 17, 2016 -> 05:44 PM) I think you are thinking people are saying he is an all star. We simply think he provides better defense with the same kind of bat Rollins does Better defense, but is Rollins that bad? We'll disagree about the bat. Until last year, Rollins was a 3 WAR player on offense. Saladino will never do that. -

QUOTE (bmags @ May 17, 2016 -> 05:39 PM) Yeah! DFA Saladino! Everything is awful! Mock all you want. I'm just tired of people who think playing Saladino over Rollins is some brilliant and obvious decision. Saladino has done nothing to earn that sort of admiration. -
