QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:18 PM) I wouldn't move Anderson for Frazier, honestly. Choose four of Avi, Micah, Montas, Engel and Adams perhaps? I dont think that would get it done. Seems they want position players and we dont have too many of those to replace Anderson with for the same value.

QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) I am not defending anything, every great player makes an error part of the game, how exactly does that adequate to career stats? http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=...a&page=1_50 Who's number 22 on the list again?

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) @scottmerkin: Hahn: "We have other irons in the fire." Good...very good It's good to see everyone excited again. This news made up for that so called basketball game the Bulls just played tonight.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:33 PM) Highly doubt it's Murphy they are after. Seems like it's definitely Frazier. Yeah seems that way. I was just looking at the free agent options. I'm not sure how much the Reds will budge on his price. Although what we do have working in our favor is they almost have to trade him now because of the Chapman saga.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:30 PM) Definitely love what I'm hearing from Hahn tonight Murphy is a little intriguing. His offense would help...but his defense at 2nd could be an issue(has been for the Mets atleast).

Wasnt Hart's goal to compete right when they get to their new stadium? Shouldnt that be in 2017? I dont see them making that schedule

Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 38s38 seconds ago Nashville, TN One thing that stuck out. Hahn was asked if he's satisfied with the improvements made to the offense. His response: "No." https://twitter.com/scottmerkin

QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) cause you're wrong Alright. Thanks for playing.

QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:23 PM) Zobrist is a career .983 fielder, above avg in his entire career Why dont you read what I've posted and get back to me

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) First, it's money the Cubs are paying him and its money that is theirs so who cares what the cost of they can pay it?Second, there is no gaurantee that he is going to have a significant drop off just because he will turn 35 next year. Especially a guy who has made a career off of being smart, dynamic, and mostly having success because he is versatile. Who has flourished under Maddon previously and has a whole lot to play for the next couple of years. He already had a significant drop off that's the point. It's not suggesting that it will happen. It already has. Just that it's going to get worse.
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:08 PM) Suuuuuurre. What does it matter a guy can play 7 positions?.....it happens all the god damn time.... If he does it poorly at age 35 for close to 60 million I dont see the point. Your paying for value he may have had years ago. Not now.
-
QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:02 PM) Oh really? Lower value? Would you like to compare numbers? Does Lawrie play 7 positions like Zobrist? Is Lawrie a switch hitter like Zobrist? Has Lawrie EVER had a better season than Zobrist Why does it matter that he can play 7 positions when he couldnt defend last year? His defensive value is actually projected to get worse next year. Just like the Cabrera discussion in the other thread. He can play across the infield except he does it poorly. Well congrats to the Mets for playing 18 million for that. Technically Brett(Baseball Reference) was better offensively and defensively

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) That was my first thought. They're definitely not done. Something else is coming and rather quickly I'd imagine. This isnt the only power they are going to add. Let's not forget that Rick Hahn did say they were speaking to some free agents with qualifying offers. He didnt sound opposed to using the Shark pick at all for the right player.
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) Did say he believes he's coming to play third, but would be open to something else. Which that would leave the door open for Frazier though I doubt they do that now. Rick Hahn told him that he's going to get a chance to play 3rd base everyday. But he made it sound open ended...so maybe...Frazier

QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) Not a Cub fan but Lawrie had a 0.6 WAR last year. This is nothing more than a stop gap move. If people think he's the long term answer at 3rd, he's not. I use Baseball Reference for position players

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) Play by play for us? Sure He had a great time in Oakland. Thanked the fans and apologized for not doing better. Said he knows Melky and Navarro. He's really excited to play with Abreu,Eaton and the great pitching staff. Used to be traded. Just gotta have a positive mindset. He loves hard working teammates and wants to help this team win a championship.
-
Love Cubs fans crapping on this move because he's a less good version of AJ as one person called him. But they just signed a 35 year old for nearly 60 million who's overall value was actually lower than Brett's.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) As a fellow overly tattooed scumbag, I approve of this addition. I could never do those full sleeve tattoos. But they do look awesome.

Just a little worrying playing the Royals more this year for him. They are I'm sure are going to try some stupid s*** and throw at him. Last thing we need is him getting injured.

I like that Eaton is just as impatient as us lol
