  1. Maybe they have some of the PEDs he was using in the minors so he can boost his batting stats a little
  2. and he got a no trade in the first 3 years....good lord
  3. AJ's like "s***...I thought I'd never have to see this guy again"
  4. Hey if the Cubs want to pay a 1ish WAR player around 60 or over million dollars for 4 years they can be my guest.
  5. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) I wouldn't read too much into it. The Sox need a 3B and its Hahn's job to explore every opportunity. If there's a match then great, if not the search continues. Well it's worth discussing because it's the latest info we've had. Plus it's really the only position where we are getting some names right now.
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:45 PM) I guess the quest for a 3B would continue for Hahn. Well I would hope we dont give him a 4 year deal. 2 is probably right where you want to be. But I'm not sure he would move over here for 2 years unless the money was way above that offer from Japan.
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:40 PM) Yes there are. SD is closer to Japan than Chicago. It's just that SD is on the east side of the Pacific and Japan is on the west side. Not sure how appealing SD will be for a 32 year old 3B just starting his MLB career since SD is obviously rebuilding. Well that ESPN article mentioning him did say at the bottom that he has a 4 year 20 million dollar offer from the team he was previously playing for. He might take that.
  8. His walk numbers concern me quite a bit. 2015 is ok but basically every single year after is a big red flag.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) Show me where I said that? Improving this team doesn't mean we're burning it down to go all in lol. I'm tired of watching a mediocre to crap product every year. I personally like how he almost acts like Rick Hahn doesnt exist or is being held against his will by Kenny.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 11:01 PM) Cubs main target is Heyward now. We aren't outbidding them and the Cards for him. I dont see anybody but the Cards getting him. They gave up plenty to acquire him. But there's always the mystery team.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 05:08 PM) Where's kOna when you need him Man I havent heard anything from him since i think the Edwin Jackson trade
  12. Hey so...it seems this trade isnt done yet. Looks like the Dodgers may think it's been agreed upon but the Reds dont. Weird.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) So, the Mariners pitching staff is awfully awful. They just traded for Miley from the Bosox, and are in on Adam Lind at 1b. They seem to be going for it. I wonder if we would be trade partners at all. Do they have anything interesting beside Alex Jackson, whom I'm guessing would be untouchable for them. I'll just say that their bullpen got much worse...that was not a good trade
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 01:02 PM) Dan Hayes said the asking price is outrageous I'm sure it is. He doesnt suck and is signed for a few more years.
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 12:08 AM) Examples? Just last year it was David Robertson. Pretty sure he was one of the first with the Shark rumors and Melky as well.
  16. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 12:03 AM) Nightengale simply said he thinks Upton ends up with the White Sox, but he didn't say they were talking at this time or anything really. He was just guessing where each FA ends up. He's pretty connected with the White Sox organization obviously from the news we've seen him break over the years. I doubt that it's just a guess based on zero evidence or no talk.
  17. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 10:34 PM) So GreenSox is a confirmed troll right? Only explanation for some of these comments Yes. Jason Heyward,Adam Eaton and Todd Frazier arent good enough for the White Sox. Apparently Avi is though.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 07:28 PM) How about actually rebuilding? What good does Frazier do? Keep these prospects and build that way. Every year the same discussion is brought up. Frazier doesn't make the Sox a playoff team in 2016. Signing a 3B over 30 who had a rough 2nd half combined with the fact that their best prospect- Fulmer- would have to be involved is a horrible idea. Where is the evidence that Fulmer would have to be involved? Frazier doesnt make the Sox a contender by himself but his 3.4 oWar and 4.6 last year is a really good start to putting them in that race. I highly doubt that the White Sox will fill 3rd base and then stop trying to upgrade at all other positions.
  19. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 07:05 PM) Stay far away from 2 year rents with .660 2nd half OPS'. Will do nothing but set the Sox back. Enough damage was done last year with clowning like this. Is there anybody that you would actually want? I bet if Mike Trout hit the market you would find some way to talk yourself into thinking he isnt good enough.
  20. Somehow I hope Hahn pulls a trade off for Frazier.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) Without Greinke maybe they are thinking about going the Royals route of having an unhittable pen that shortens games. I think that's very likely
  22. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) The problem with Heyward is that he's not a great hitter. That's a lot of money for excellent defense and solid, but not great, hitting. It's not "great" but it's very good.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) When Samardzija really sucked, right after the All Star break, that had zero to do with bad defense. I'm going to steal this Allen because it's a really good point that's often missed. It's way easier to blame the Sox defense for his troubles than delving deeper into the overall issue.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) Something interesting about him - 3 of the past 4 seasons he's been worth exactly 2.7 fWAR. Only season he was worth any other number was 2014. If you just look at that, you think that's about what he might produce. But, in each of those same 4 seasons, Baseball-Reference's WAR has shown him underproducing fWAR by somewhere between 1 and 2.5 WAR. In other words, it's like UZR always blames the defense behind him and says he's doing fine, while DRS says he's doing much worse and blames him for the runs he gives up. But, outside of his time in Oakland, that's always been spent in parks you might call "Hitters parks", at least under the right wind conditions. That's actually very interesting. A conflict of stats on a players overall value. Fangraphs in their latest article mentions this just a tiny bit http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/giants-inve...-dave-righetti/ I think it's easy to point to the defense and go that's the main culprit. But there was so much going wrong at once that it couldnt possibly be the only answer.
