  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 03:51 PM) Playing in SF will help a whole lot if he can't get his K-rate back up because he'll give up hits but they won't leave the park. It'll be interesting to see where his location is next season.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) He really has only had 1 stellar season as a starting pitcher. I wouldn't want to owe him 90 million. That and you had some bad signs from him like SO/9 going down and hits+HRs going up.
  3. QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) I don't and I couldn't care less about the cubs and what they do! Post this on their message board! Ok thanks for your input. Didnt realize that even if it's a good baseball move you cant post about it if it's about the Cubs.
  4. I like the Lackey deal for the Cubs even more now
  5. 5 years...man desperation for starting pitching right now is hilarious to watch
  6. Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 1m1 minute ago Source: No bids placed by MLB teams on Korean 3B Jae-gyun Hwang. He'll return to Korea this season and hit free agency next offseason. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 05:27 PM) FWIW, this deal puts the Cubs close to $140m in commits next year. The highest opening day payroll they've had on record was $146m, back in 2010. With the stadium renovations/extra advertising and a big boost in shared revenues since then, plus a packed ballpark and some ticket price gradual increases, they probably still have substantial room to add next year. I'm assuming they are still having some dialogue with Shark and Jason Heyward. Not sure they can sign both but I dont expect them to be out of the loop on those guys.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 05:06 PM) That's not how it works any more. The Cubs would lose their 2nd round pick but the White Sox would still be in the compensatory round between 1 and 2. This deal could well make more sense if it's not the only QO'd FA they sign, where they're losing a couple picks and saying heck with it. Thanks. Good deal. I dont see why they shouldnt just try and load up a few of those free agents at this point. Probably should bring Fowler back.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:43 PM) Please let this mean Ross is his personal catcher also! He's the opposing teams favorite catcher. He's just awful at this stage. I think this is a decent signing even with the draft pick although that does dull it down a bit. So basically what we should probably want is Shark not to sign there right? Because we'll get their second round pick now.
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:04 PM) i am 1/2 hispanic and my english was horrible b/c of my spanish background. i had to learn english which i failed may times. the compositional part killed me and even till today. no matter how many times i took extra classes. i never got my degree in college b/c of that. it is hard, if you really do not know english or born into a family that is all english speaking. Your english is much better than some of the people born in this country especially my state.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:00 PM) I keep seeing people reference this article and stating that the Sox are interested in Nova. It doesn't say that. It says nothing about the White Sox being interested. It says they were at one point. Then goes on to say that the Yanks will move him and nobody is really interested. San Diego fans on twitter seem to think he will be a Padre. Well that and it sounds like they really want to move Shields. Cant say that's a surprise.
  12. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:49 PM) Bids due in 15 mins, anyone have an idea how soon we should see the winner announced? I imagine it's going to take a day or so. Not sure if the weekend will effect anything. But there was something that just popped to mind about Hwang that I didnt share earlier. But did anybody read that tweet posted I think a week ago about a few GMs doubting that he could start? *edit*(Just saw it was posted 2 pages ago) That's a little concerning. How much money do you want to shell out on the posting fee plus the contract for what maybe be a backup?
  13. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:15 PM) Why are posters blocking each other? I don't get it. We are all fans of the same sports team. Shouldn't we all, ya know... get along and all that? I havent blocked anyone on here or anyone really in general for that matter. Unless you start receiving threats there's really no need.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) Part of the problem? If you treat people who have inside info like a dick, what do you expect? It has nothing to do with this site, rather you consistent willingness to go bash media people on the twittersphere. If that gives you kicks, great, but I find it rather pathetic. I'm not certain what the dissenting opinion is related to? I'm purely talking about a track record you have of bashing the media and individuals with those sort of opinions as well as the track record to blast them on twitter where you can do it in a nameless / faceless fashion. It is pathetic. Their is no other possible conclusion to come to other than that. This is not debating whether X or Y player is a better fit or which scenario is more reasonable. And when it comes to members of this site, I'll protect the right of any poster with some legit inside info who shares that info and will take offense when people want to "bash" said individual. Said bashing just ruins it for everyone else. Name 5 media members I've gone out of my way on Twitter to bash Or if you cant do that name 5 regular people("with those sort of opinions") on Twitter I've gone out of my way to bash. Since it's so consistent that shouldnt be too hard.
  15. He wasnt on long which was a little disappointing. I was hoping he would talk about Montas and where he views him in a year or two.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) Lemming has been the best / more accurate person out their when it comes to following the Bears (so not sure what is shady about it). Maybe you should spend less time getting your panties in a bundle when someone on twitter reports / mentions something. These people do the best that they can and the alternative is for none of the info to exist and just wait to hear what actually happens. I also hate how good people with inside info eventually stop sharing such info because people react / respond to them like you. Reality is the info is going to more often than not not come true and people should just understand that. I've been wrong on inside info and I've been right. See that's part of the problem. Apparently dissenting opinions are treated with hostility. So sorry I dont believe he's the best when it comes to the Bears. If you dont like that I dont know what to tell you. Maybe take your own advice.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) Well, he is a longtime soxtalk member, so he isnt all that bad I'm well aware. But he and I have been through this before. So I wont delve too much into it.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) He got it from the George King story, so it wasn't a Lemming exclusive. Yeah just saw the NY Post story. King's a little bit iffy too. But certainly a better choice to listen to.
  19. QUOTE (kevo880 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) Why do you say that? What do you have against Lemming? I think his reporting is shady at best and his followers are bullies. Kind of reminds me of incarceratedbob.
  20. Rick Hahn will be on in a minute on espn 1000 just fyi
  21. Was interested until I saw who was reporting it
  22. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-he...s-on-a-new-deal Well doesnt sound like it'll be Freese
  23. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 07:43 PM) I've never played organized baseball and I have a better chance of starting next season at third ok maybe not but Mike frickin Olt is not our 3B next season Hopefully this situation gets sorted out next week at the winter meetings. Lawrie or Frazier would be a good start to helping this lineup and defense.
  24. I think there's a better chance of one of us starting at 3rd base next year than Mike Olt. Rick Hahn isnt that stupid.
  25. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 06:56 PM) I said I'm totally giving up on 3B. maybe he could hit .220 and 20 with decent defense. not that far off Lawrie really. Except for the huge difference in offensive value...
