Who Do You Want at 3rd Next Season?
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 06:56 PM) I said I'm totally giving up on 3B. maybe he could hit .220 and 20 with decent defense. not that far off Lawrie really. Except for the huge difference in offensive value...

Sox Sign Dioner Navarro
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 10:26 AM) I really don't understand the posts about "Now the Sox have two catchers on one year deals, that concerns me for the future.." Did you feel a lot better when Flowers was the starter? Was he the long term answer? Exactly...plus if resigned he would have been on a 1 year deal just like last year.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
I thought Ken Rosenthal's latest article would have something about our next catcher...nope....it's about trading Chris Sale...again

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 09:44 PM) That's some irrational emotion right there. It's freakin Tyler Flowers, and obviously something else is coming. It's dumb. They are acting like there is no one else available but him or the few free agents they mentioned(plus the guys on our roster for some reason). Second they keep asking what is Rick Hahn thinking because of pitch framing blah blah. Well I have a pretty good idea. Probably went something like this " His offense and defensive ability are liabilities(blocking balls and throwing out runners)...maybe we can get X player and improve in those two areas. Yeah we may lose some of the pitch framing value. But the overall lineup will be better. What a novel concept. Also Tyler Flowers may signal a rebuild? Huh?

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
Already a few minutes into the podcast and there's a few issues I can point out. 1. They are probably overblowing how much "help" Chris Sale needs in regards to pitch framing. 2. There are most definitely young catching prospects available. That doesnt mean they'll be cheap.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 07:21 PM) Jason Castro would be surprising, purely because you'd suspect they'd be looking for a right handed bat. That said, he's been a long term target of Hahn and maybe Hanh learned from Kenny in the sense that Kenny always got his guy. That's who I was thinking of

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 07:01 PM) That's my hope too. Young, good potential...that sort of thing. Sox aren't winning anything in 2016, so set up for 2017-2019 as best they can. Good...when are we trading Sale,Q and Abreu?

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) Obviously early, but worth noting that the White Sox's plan so far to address the awful 2015 season has been to jettison the catching unit which was arguably middle-to-top-half-of-MLB in terms of value (depending how you feel about framing) and yet to touch 2B, 3B or corner OF which were amongst the league's worst. I'll probably feel more comfortable when the bigger picture is revealed, but it's not quite the way I would have approached things. Keep in mind the catching market has moved faster than the other markets so far. So getting something done now seems to be what they had to do.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 05:47 PM) Why does the Rangers piece matter? Well they were close to trading for a catcher earlier today which was supposed to be a smaller piece that could affect this type of transaction(tender/nontender). http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/rang...up-catcher.html

Jeff Samardjiza signs with SF Giants, 5/90.
QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) Ugh, what? He has posted a 2.6 WAR or higher the last 4 seasons, with 2 being higher than 4 WAR. In addition, he rates pretty highly defensively. 6th best defensive score, 6th best UZR, 7th best UZR/150, and 7th best DRS among 3B. Thank you...I was just about to say something about that "sub par" bat.

Red Sox sign David Price for 217 million over 7 years
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) They've been conditioned to think that everyone thinks like they do and that the Cubs are the bestest everzzzz!!! Money talks, Price wasn't coming to the Cubs for a discount to play for Madden or for the "glory" of helping the Cubs win. That's the part I think some of them were counting on....or atleast that they would make more of an effort for Price In other news. With Greinke signing soon with the Dodgers or Giants....the bidding war for Shark will start.
