QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 08:01 PM) How many young SS's do they have? A few but what Billy does with them is a different story -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 12:22 PM) David Schuster 14 mins · Chicago, IL · Edited · According to sources at the Winter Meetings, Lester will sign with a team by tomorrow at the latest. They were reporting that on MLB Network radio too. Tomorrow afternoon at the latest. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 02:24 PM) Bill James 2015 handbook ranks John Danks the #111 starter. A guy the Sox supposedly need to pay to get rid of at just about any cost. Justin Masterson is ranked #105. I knew there was something I needed to buy...Thanks for reminding me Dick Allen. Almost forgot to get my yearly copy of the handbook.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 07:54 AM) You don't even know the parameters of a potential deal and you're already calling it terrible? Let's give Hahn the benefit of the doubt here. He isn't going to do something stupid. I think he's complaining about the people complaining when they see this -
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 05:33 PM) When do the GMs actually arrive? Tonight? I was listening to MLB Radio on Sirius XM and it seems alot of them are already there. Same with agents.

Kenny Williams discussed as CEO candidate in Toronto

QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 03:38 PM) Looks like it'll end up being Duquette. This topic could probably be unpinned and have "may resign" text removed. They are refusing to let him go too -

So let's just assume Kenny is telling the truth. What the hell is Rosenthal talking about? -

QUOTE (midway @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 12:56 PM) The job being open for awhile is one thing, but mentioning his name and discussing it with him privately without asking permission from the White Sox first would be tampering wouldn't it. From his Score interview yesterday he wouldn't even bite when asked in a roundabout way concerning Jeff S because of the tampering rules. JR has always been fiercely loyal to his employee's so for me this is a surprise that JR wouldn't let KW at least interview for the position. It would be a huge promotion for KW and even if it is a kick in the gut to JR, I really believe that he will let him talk to Toronto. Sounds like a really sensitive issue going forward. I think that's pretty well said and sums up everything quite nicely. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 12:39 PM) You have no idea the circumstances. This criticism is outrageous. He likes his job now, you think he'd throw it away for a promotion that's not a sure thing? He's a human. The criticism is not unwarranted when it's the busiest part of the offseason and his contribution to that by upper management was probably seen as a plus. Like it or not he's going to be criticized for that. -

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 12:24 PM) I'm just going to resign from my job today for the next job that may come open in the future. This job has been open for quite a while. His name was mentioned atleast a month ago. You think they got on the phone with him today and just discussed this with him? I think what did happen recently is he finally told management. That's why I think they are balking at letting him interview. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) Would the White Sox receive any sort of compensation at all? I know that Friedman just left for the Dodgers. When Epstein went to the Cubs, why did the Red Sox get compensation for that? Well him resigning you wont get anything for sure. He quits he gone. -

Should have resigned earlier in the offseason. Doing it now is just plain stupid. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 06:53 PM) Has there been any reason to believe there's at least a dialogue going with Cabrera? I know, I know...someone's going to say Rick Hahn always prefers to fly under the radar, in comparison to KW's style. Last I remember they were thinking about making a run at him and Heyman mentioned us in his article today when talking about Cabrera.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 05:57 PM) That is the most comforting article I've read in a long time. Not like there was anything new in that article. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 02:54 PM) That was their initial asking price for their best or second best outfielder and arguably their best hitter who has a reasonably priced contract but one that should be outside the White Sox range (that last part is my opinion, but the rest is probably pretty universally agreed upon). It makes sense that they ask for that. It makes sense to ask for that. Doesnt make sense for the Mariners to give it up though. I'm sure they'll go the cheaper route.

Victorino would probably be more appealing if that's the price the Dodgers want.

QUOTE (glangon @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 09:38 AM) I think Hahn is willing to spend the money but spending the money and the 2nd round draft pick for Cabrera may be too much for Hahn. If you look at last year, that second round pick was Spencer Adams. There are some free-agents out there that don't require a draft pick which may be more realistic for us, someone like Nick Markakis could be the free agent signing from Hahn that would not only give us a plus defender in the outfield, but would also give us a good left-handed hitter without giving up that draft pick. I'm surprised we've not heard chatter that the White Sox are in on Markakis for example. May have something to do with Markakis wanting alot of money and him not being all that good.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 02:56 PM) Why is trading for 1 guy who is about to be a free agent a "no brainer" but trading for another guy who is about to be a free agent only makes sense if you can get an extension agreed to? Because it doesnt make any sense
