  1. Bruce Levine ‏@MLBBruceLevine 1m Tanaka has told teams that a part of his decision will be based on the Japanese culture available to him and his wife . https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine Dynamite reporting there Bruce
  2. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 04:46 PM) Things could get interesting late tonight and tomorrow if this is true; Tanaka's decision should come Tuesday or Wednesday to allow time for further medical exams to take place prior to the Friday deadline, an AL scout tells David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com (via Twitter). MLbTR Yeah they said this a few days ago....couldnt remember who said it though. They will dive further into his medicals once he signs.
  3. Well....this conversation once more got weird.
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 02:29 PM) I cannot stand this guy. Can he at least pretend to be somewhat objective? My dad was just telling me he's going to be speaking at the Hit n' Run benefit next week. I told him to have fun listening to his garbage. He's pretty terrible....watching CSN Chicago the live sports talk.....always gets so defensive when the other guests start talking about the Cubs terrible offseason
  5. Oh so now the Cubs are a long shot David?
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 08:14 PM) Tom Loxas on twitter is stating he heard Cubs offered him 7/160 That's who I was referring to on the 160 million dollar contract. But I dont exactly trust him as far as this sort of news goes.On the other hand the number could certainly be around that. I just dont think itll be that high.
  7. Just an interesting though....if the Cubs do sign him for that deal that would make him tied for the 3rd highest paid pitcher in baseball *Edit* thats for the 8 for 200 million contract
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 08:03 PM) The information the last month or so has been that they are seriously interested. Yeah the last month....but when he was first coming on the market I didnt think they would enter a bidding war for him(old posting rules too). I thought they were going to watch from afar.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 08:00 PM) For that, no thanks. The 8 for 200 has no legs....the 6 for 160 probably does. The Cubs had to overpay to have a chance at getting him.
  10. I must say....never thought this team would get this far in the negotiations....impressive offseason.
  11. I've heard all sorts of price points for the Cubs today. 8 for 200 and now 6 for 160.
  12. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 07:19 PM) Bernie Pleskoff ‏@BerniePleskoff 2m Formal offers for Masahiro Tanaka were submitted by #Yankees, #Dodgers, #Dbacks, #WhiteSox and #Cubs. Surprise for me-no #BlueJays. All offers were atleast 6 for 100
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 05:40 PM) According to Heyman, it probably will come right down to the deadline since each team was given the results of his physical. It may have been Rosenthal....but I read that Wednesday will probably be the danger zone. Just because there is very little time to get the details sorted out.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 05:26 PM) He took a physical when he was in LA. Doesnt matter...once he agrees to a contract he has to do a full work up at the teams facilities.
  15. Keep in mind everyone that a deal may be announced in the next few days. He cant wait until the last minute because of travel, paper work and a physical.
  16. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 05:17 PM) Bunch of rumors claiming this or that, but Kenny was actually quoted that White Sox are very much in on Tanaka, until they hear 'no' . Thanks.....didnt see the Heyman thing a few pages ago. Really cool...that should make everyone a little more optimistic.
  17. What did I miss? Sorry I sleep during the day(night job)
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 07:53 PM) I hope not if it's 20 million per year or higher Just sort of interperting what Kenny was saying in that article...but it sure doesnt seem like the White Sox will be going all in money wise. They seem to be hoping that former Japanese players success plus the young team will make him comfortable here.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 07:45 PM) I would be stunned if it's not the Yanks, Dodgers or Cubs. Thing is, if the Cubs want to be dumb and give him something like 5/120....then I hope they get him. I think that is the only way the Cubs will sign him.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 07:41 PM) Lots of talk about the Cubs with Tanaka Follow Jayson StarkVerified account ‏@jaysonst In non-replay news, amazing how many owners in Ariz. were convinced #Cubs are ready to blow away the field & sign Tanaka to a monster deal. There is so much Tanaka rumors right now....I wouldnt be surprised to see any of the teams mentioned to be interested sign him at this point.
  21. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 07:19 PM) Ooooooh, an industry source. That changes everything. So what number is going to wear for us? Will he be at Soxfest? A random industry source has this inside scoop apparently, someone tell the jersey manufacturers. Where did I say it changes everything? We've been in the running for him. Some people were questioning whether we still were at this point. Stop being dramatic and read the article next time. Kenny breaks silence of the situation http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/willia...masahiro-tanaka
  22. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 06:21 PM) The only "proof" they had of that was that the Sox publicly announced meeting with Tanaka. This article could have been written any day in the past week, there is nothing new in it. Just trying to temper enthusiasm over a sensationalized NY Post headline. "According to an industry source, both the Cubs and White Sox are still seriously in the hunt for the Japanese right-hander, along with the Yankees and Dodgers." Maybe reading the article next time would help. They were clearly just reiterating that we met them already just catch people up.
  23. I was going to post the new Cubs report that they are major players....but the person reporting it seems questionable

  25. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 09:39 PM) I'm thinking he will be an Angel or Dodger. This is just too far fetched. Mike DiGiovanna ‏@MikeDiGiovanna 1h GM Jerry Dipoto confirms that #Angels were not one of the teams that met with Japanese RHP Masahiro Tanaka in LA last week. https://twitter.com/MikeDiGiovanna
