QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 07:40 PM) He went 1-3 with a 5.29 ERA in May. He's had a total of 3 really good starts in a row. As recently as June 5 he had a 9 hit outing over 6 IP. Come on, 3 good starts, that's literally it. I know this org has no patience but come on. Come on, you know better than to look at ERA and hits. He's been striking people out all year, and has mostly kept the walks at a manageable rate.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) Brad Penny or Scott Carroll? Junior Guerra, Erik Johnson, hell maybe even Surkamp before we gave him away for peanuts
-
It's nonsense for this team to even pretend to be still competing when they trot out Danks every 5th day. They have more than one player in the org who is a much better option.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) Get on base, Beckham. I got golf to watch. Didn't listen to you

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) Petricka has not looked good this year Got that impression myself so I looked up the stats. He's been pretty good actually. Grounders are good.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) I disagree 100% so glad the worthless SOB is gone! #JusticeForTheFeek Average De Aza with the White Sox would be the second best position player on this team. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) I'm almost certain you were pimping him earlier this year too though, and then he got dfa'd by the Orioles. He seems to be doing nice for Boston so far though Don't believe so. I was probably talking about him with this White Sox. I think he's probably just about done at this stage. Although given our current corner outfielders are sitting at -1.0 and -0.3 WAR, his 0.0 WAR would look mighty pretty.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) His stats went up some not much and Sox could not give him away fast enough and Baltimore said see you loser already he will not last long in Boston either. He's older now and probably done. He was good for the White Sox.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 04:43 PM) don't call my name, says the feek. Alejan-dro! Alejandro! Listen lads, I won on Alejandro too. He was .164/.190/.328 and I said that was nowhere near his talent which was about a league average hitter. He ended up hitting .252/.314/.386. I won a bet on it, but never got paid out. #JusticeForTheFeek

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) On the negative side you stuck with De Aza and was a bust! I simply said his stats would shoot up and they did. He went from a wRC+ of about 40 or something to 90-something. What he's done since then is none of my business, although I will point out that he's still better than Avi.

Things Feeky told you early in the year: Avi will slump baaaad Putnam will come gooood Listen to the Feek

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) Scout or develop? What are the chances he makes a flawless transition if he stays in the Tigers org? On the flip side, what are the chances Semien and Phegleyhit this year if they stay? I think scout. I think the Tigers knew he wasn't making that transition and that's why they traded him. Semien and Phegley were hitting splendidly at AAA for us. I doubt the Athletics did anything magical for them in the space of a few weeks.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) Just remember what Hawk has said.... In 50 years, they'll be talking about the Avi Garcia trade as one of the most important moves in Sox history. He said this. And he meant it. Montas is by far the best player we got in that trade. Wendelken could be the second best.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) I wonder if this season could be it for Alexei in the majors. He's made about 40 mil, and it could be tough for him to get a starting SS gig again. Hahn f*cked up not trading him at last year's deadline. Reportedly Pittsburgh wanted him but Hahn was asking for too much.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 03:53 PM) Guys, Avi is in a slump. Everyone gets one. Just a matter of getting through it. Avi's whole career is a slump. He's a below average career hitter who hasn't shown any signs of getting better and this combined with his awfulness in every other aspect of the game makes him a below-replacement player. About -1.5 WAR for his career. And don't give me this "for his age" thing, at similar ages his statistics are pretty much identical to Dayan Viciedo's. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 03:50 PM) He's exactly the kind of guy the White Sox should be trying to compile. Under team control for several years, has talent, if he flops so what, we lose more games? Oh darn. 67 wins instead of 68. No. The White Sox should be trying to compile players who actually produce on the baseball field. Avi's absolute upside given his awful defence and bad baserunning is what exactly, a 1-2 WAR player, even if you buy into offensive improvement out of nowhere?
-
Avi is officially a below average hitter, .268/.321/.395, good enough for a 99 wRC+ and room to fall still. Combine that with his horrendous defence and baserunning, and you get a below replacement player.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) We're not sure but there's never been any actual statement that he was hurt last year and they've denied that IIRC. They really have made it sound like some sort of a major mental thing. I'm aware of that. I believe they are either wrong or are being economical with the truth.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) The things we've heard suggest otherwise. How do mental problems lead to losing 4 mph on your fastball?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 02:31 PM) Since he cracked up last year it sounded like they wanted to make 100% sure he was ready mentally before trying again earlier this year. I have no issue waiting to try him until Samardzija is traded. Patience is not a bad thing with these guys. I believe the issue with him last year was injury/mechanical rather than mental.

EJ 8 IP, 4H, 0R, 0BB, 9K. Promote.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) This EJ resurgence is very intriguing. He needs to be in the bigs semi soon so we can make the decision if he's actually a thing going forward. IF ONLY WE HAD A REALLY BAD 5TH STARTER

Putnam now trails only Aroldis Chapman, Andrew Miller, Dellin Betances and Sergio Romo in strikeout percentage this year
