  1. Johnson gets an out in the 6th and then gives up 3 straight doubles
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 06:41 PM) Dreaded vote of confidence from Dayton Moore for Ned Yost... http://www.kansascity.com/sports/mlb/kansa...icle781663.html Royals interested in Rios/M.Byrd as well for outfield help offensively. (Aoki/Dyson/Cain aren't quite getting it done...but Aoki's far and away the weakest link in that chain.) Assuming he gets healthy again before the deadline, the Rangers are gonna get a hell of a lot more back for Rios than Leury Garcia
  3. Micah homer Erik 5.0 IP, 2H, 0R, 2BB, 4K
  4. Wow, Wilkins homered again Phegley, Micah, Sanchez all 2-3, Michael Taylor 2-2
  5. Erik 3.0 IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 2K Great start for Recchia: 7.0 IP, 2H, 1ER, 1BB, 8K
  6. Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 11m Major League source confirms to mlb.com four contenders on Danks' six no-trade: A's, Orioles, Nationals and Blue Jays.
  7. Micah 1-1, now hitting .300 Kevan Smith 2-3
  8. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) we in wildcard race and we just going wave the white flag just not right lol
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 10:37 AM) Not at all. Guys outperform their FIPs all the time, especially soft-tossers. Buehrle's career ERA of 3.80 - a difference of .32 - is not significantly different. It's not a stretch to assume that Milone could put up an ERA of 3.75-4.00, especially considering his FIP this year appears inflated overall (career FIP 4.14/xFIP 4.20 in 468.2 IP). Even so, are people here really THAT opposed to acquiring a guy that could put up a 4.25-4.50 ERA who is entering his prime and under team control for the next 3 years? I know it's not significantly different. I'd expect that to change. Per DRS, Buehrle has saved over 7 runs over average per season. Milone has a little over 1 per. Buehre has allowed a stolen base once every 52 innings. Milone once every 21. That's two pretty damn good reasons why Buehrle significantly overperforms his peripherals. What's the reason for Milone? And fwiw, Milone in the minors: 2008 - FIP: 3.26, ERA: 3.51 2009 - FIP: 2.59, ERA: 2.89 2010 - FIP: 3.53, ERA: 2.91 2011 - FIP: 2.28, ERA: 3.22 I'm not even saying he wouldn't be nice to have, I'm commenting solely on the use of Buerhle in terms of judging peripherals.
  10. Rodon is due to pitch only one inning of relief tonight.
  11. What were the reasons for moving Molina into the pen? His last full season as a starter he had a 3.20 FIP at Birmingham. His skillset seems to fit #5 starter more than it does bullpen guy.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 10:30 AM) Mark Buehrle's career FIP is 4.12 and his xFIP is 4.21. Are you telling me you wouldn't like him? Milone is young, cost controlled, and good. Just because he is a guy who pitches to contact - hence, the higher FIP and xFIP - doesn't make him a bad pitcher. He would be a welcome addition to the pitching staff. Buehrle is almost freakishly capable of pitching better than his peripherals because he's one of the best defensive pitchers ever and he completely shuts down the running game. People need to stop using him in discussions on the usefulness or otherwise of peripherals.
  13. Jace Fry had his third outing tonight and his first in almost a month - struck out 2 and walked 1 in one hitless inning.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 11:34 PM) Gillaspie has 300 plate appearances but still does not qualify for batting average leaders. When will he qualify? Need 3.1 PA per game. He's currently on 3 flat. If he plays the next 6 games he'll qualify.
  15. Spencer Adams has struck out 9 in 4 innings, walking 1 and giving up 6 hits and 2 runs. 23 strikeouts to 2 walks in 17.2 IP now. His BABIP must be insane. Micker Adolfo is 2-3 with a double and a homer.
  16. Brad Salgado threw 3.1 perfect innings in relief for Kannapolis tonight. 1.54 ERA with Kanny, 1.93 overall including Great Falls. 22 strikeouts to 3 walks in in 18.2 IP. Converted former shortstop.
  17. I think it's safe to say Jake Peter is the greatest hitter of all time
  18. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jul 20, 2014 -> 07:11 PM) If an A-baller throws a no-hitter, and he's 25 year old, did it really happen? He's 24. He also lead the minors in FIP last year. Probably just an org guy but I'd like to see him in Birmingham.
  19. Double play. One-hitter. One walk. One error.
  20. Bucciferro gives up a single. Dammit.
  21. Flyout for Bucciferro. One down.
  22. 16 groundouts to 3 flyouts for Bucciferro Rondon is 3-4
  23. Bucciferro 8.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 4K. 96 pitches. Rondon getting praise for his shortstop play.
  24. Bucciferro 7.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 3K. 79 pitches.
  25. 6 no-hit innings for Bucciferro. Still 1BB, 3K. Kept alive after error called on Basto. Only thrown 68 pitches too.
