  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 09:02 PM) I don't want him in the majors either. If he comes up in September though, his clock doesn't start. It does mate
  2. Ravelo 1-2 with a walk Smith 1-3 with a double Marin 7.1 IP, 6H, 1ER, 1BB, 7K Dykstra 7.1 IP, 4H, 1ER, 1BB, 10K
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:39 PM) Why though? They just got an ace for $6.5 million. I know what the system is but lets look at the big picture here. In the old system, he would've gotten $12 million and not been a White Sox. Carlos Rodon is an absolute bargain. That may be the case, but offering to start his clock is an incentive to get him to sign and there was no need to do it to get him to sign for the max bonus without giving away future picks. He's better off in the minors learning to use his change (which apparently saw very little action last year) rather than in the major league bullpen and probably relying on his fastball-slider combo.
  4. SportsCenter ‏@SportsCenter 3m Masahiro Tanaka diagnosed w/ partially torn ligament in throwing arm. Rehab would take 6 weeks, Tommy John surgery possible if rehab fails. CAN WE INTEREST YOU IN A DANKS
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:07 PM) I also wonder if we made him any guarantee on a timeline. Absolutely no need to make him any guarantee with how much they went over the slot. If I was the Sox I'd have been saying 'you can either sign for slot and we'll fast-track you to the bullpen, or you can push for overslot and you'll stay in the minors until we're satisfied with your changeup.'
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:57 PM) At 23, it would appear Dykstra has proven his point in low-A. Ideal scenario would have Rodon flying through Winston-Salem and Dykstra going up then He's still only given up 1 hit through 5 with no walks and 8 strikeouts
  7. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:38 PM) I've posted this before, his BABIP is still .348! Can you f***ing imagine how awful he'd if he had his career BABIP line of 290 coming into this year? Flowers is literally one of the worst hitters I have ever seen as a regular. I would have more confidence with 40 year old Omar Visquel coming through than Flowers right now. T-Flo has put 144 balls into play this year, resulting in 49 hits. Applying a .290 BABIP to those balls put in play leaves him with 41.76 hits. Add his 5 homers, divide by his 249 at-bats, and a .290 BABIP would have left him with an average of .188. Even assuming all 7 hits taken off him would have been singles, that still leaves Ordinary Luck Tyler Flowers with a triple slash of .188/.248/.273.
  8. Semien is 2-2 with a walk. See? BABIP yo. Sanchez is also 2-2 with a walk. Phegley is 2-3. Davidson 0-3 with a K. Dykstra has given up a hit and no walks through 3 and has struck out 4. He's starting to look a prospect, though is pretty old for the level.
  9. Tyler is actually hitting worse this year than last (58 wRC+ versus 59). Given the luckiness of the April he had, that is actually quite incredible. He's right about to have a triple slash all in the 2s too - .217/.274/.301. He's also officially at 0.0 fWAR. Can't remember who it was that I bet that De Aza would hit at least 50 points better than Flowers from April 21st until the end of the season but since then De Aza is .256 (53 for 207) and Flowers is .169 (33 for 195).
  10. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:12 PM) I see a bad pitcher with no command and control. No matter how many fancy stats you wanna try to put a spin on. He's bad, your not unluckywhen you walk lead-off hitters, your just bad. No fancy stats with a spin, just bad Ok, what ERA would you expect this bad pitcher with no command and control to pitch to for the rest of the year?
  11. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 05:52 PM) Tell me your kidding right.... Only 58.1% of his baserunners have been stranded. LOB% is a figure that fluctuates too much to indicate that pitchers have that much of a control over it. 2009: 81.1 2010: 65.6 2011: injured 2012: 76.5 2013: 70.4 2014: 58.5 Tell me which year looks like the outlier... His ERA last year was 3.97, the year before 2.54 and this year he's walking way less hitters than he did in either of those years, and striking out about the same as last year and a bit less than the year before. Unless he starts throwing differently, that ERA is gonna come down fast.
  12. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 05:32 PM) Can we f***ing release Belisario already??? Sheesh FIP 3.71, xFIP 3.44, SIERA 2.76. His K:BB rate is excellent. Dude has been seriously unlucky. Who exactly do you propose releasing him for?
  13. Abreu has 20 walks and 8 of them were intentional
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 04:07 PM) I believe it was a change, but jesus, why speed up his bat there? Moronic It was 5 straight curves
  15. Tyler's pitch-calling has been awful this inning
  16. Dropped the foul tip and then called a pitch outside on a 3-2 count on a hitter striking out over 30% of the time
  17. Quintana's record third time through the order is something he's gonna have to fix if he wants to threaten a no-no/perfecto
  18. Sale, Q, Rodon is a pretty, pretty good front 3 for your rotation
  19. Not that there's not some correlation but since when did blown saves/total team wins x % of blown saves equal overall bullpen quality?
  20. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 11:40 PM) Everyone must be asleep. This is huge news obviously. Congrats Sox, you have a new #1 prospect. Get with the times pal, in the draft thread we've already moved past his signing and onto him dumping his girlfriend
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 11:23 PM) Both your stalking and the fact that her ex-just signed with her favorite team make me sad. She's always tweeting about the Sox too, it's not like it's just a casual thing. Rough.
  22. QUOTE (coco1997 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) How'd you come to that conclusion? I had been checking Rodon's favourites occasionally to see if he'd faved anything about the White Sox or signing, he had a string of her tweets favourited but when I looked tonight, there were gone. So I checked and they no longer follow each other, plus she kind of vaguely refers to a dumping/being heartbroken in some tweets. I need to get a life.
