  1. 5K through 3 for Adams. 1 run on a solo homer. QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 08:37 PM) I love the fact that he's not afraid to attack the strike zone this early in his career, what's his ceiling if he puts it all together? Greinke? Also, I'd have to say that Dykstra has to have cracked the top 15 prospects by this point, it looks like he's adjusted well to the promotion and is sporting an 8.5:1 K/BB ratio with a 1.15 WHIP between the Sally and Carolina Leagues. Hopefully Dykstra isn't long at WS, should really be finishing the year at Birmingham given his age.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 08:47 PM) Who the f*** is over Ravelo? Andrew Mitchell and Braulio Ortiz are immediately over him, two guys who have way less of a chance of contributing at the MLB level. It's not completely positional either, they have Keon Barnum at 15. No way Barnum is a better prospect than Ravelo. Dykstra and Saladino unlucky to miss out too I would have thought. Kevan Smith arguably low at 20.
  3. No Ravelo on the White Sox top 20. Love Montas at 3 though.
  4. Adams is a strikeout machine. 2 in the first makes it 25 in 18.2 IP, and it's been trending up too.
  5. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 07:48 PM) I like Semien too. Can't understand why he hasn't hit better at Charlotte. BABIP
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 07:02 PM) Rondon 2-4 with a walk out of the 2-spot. This is confusing. Pretty excited for what he does if/when he ditches the whole left-handed hitting thing. For 2014 he's hitting .266/.355/.394 as a righty and .227/.277/.248 as a lefty. It's been .353/.421/.647 as a righty and .204/.250/.204 as a lefty at Winston-Salem.
  7. Sanchez 2-4, homer Semien 2-4, double Michael Taylor 1-1, 2 walks Ravelo 2-3, walk Kevan Smith 1-3, walk, homer May 2-5, double Rondon 2-4, double, walk Dykstra: 8.0 IP, 5H, 1ER, 1BB, 8K Engel 2-8, walk, triple Trey 3-8, walk, triple Austin 2-4, double
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 07:23 PM) Hey I was calling for Flowers head last year but seriously how can you say that now? What if he get's his average up to .270 by seasons end and hit's like 10 more HR's ? That would be a decent enough sample size to give me pause. Okay, the dudes having fun about his glasses are chill with me, but you're on the naughty chair. He's hitting .243/.299/.350 with a .371 BABIP and a 35.4 K% (dead last in the entire MLB). He's put the ball in play 166 times, for 62 hits. Applying the league average BABIP of .300 (his 2011 BABIP was .261, his 2012 .301 and his 2013 .261) to his line gives him 50 hits. Add his 6 homers, divide by his 280 at-bats and an average BABIP would have given him an average of a clean .200. Even assuming all 12 hits he loses were singles (which is generous because he's had extra-base hits that normally would have been outs, like that double which span and then hit the bag), that would leave Ordinary Luck Tyler Flowers with a line of .200/.260/.307. He's just not an MLB hitter. He also ranks 66 of 96 in catcher framing, so it's not like there's some insane hidden value.
  9. - Robin makes some questionable decisions - Robin is liked by the players and loved by the management and he's not going anywhere - This is clearly not a team that would be 10+ games over .500 if only for Robin - /thread
  10. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 02:36 PM) No has anyone been traded no trade someone already god sakes
  11. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) Feeky co ming on in 5...4...3..2.. Wasn't watching. Not good obviously, but Gameday says he was getting squeezed. He had given up 1 run in his last 7.2.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 06:46 AM) If the White Sox had an offer they would consider appropriate for Danks, they would trade him. Hahn doesn't make moves based on fan reaction. To think otherwise is really saying he probably has no clue about his job. He is far more in tune with his team than you or me. Probably, but if it was a tight call with a trade, and the team was 54-54, I could see it being a factor. Enough people still whine about the White Flag trade.
  13. I wanted Sale to win, but I wouldn't cry if Scott Carroll got shelled today and the offence had a good effort that fell just short. I don't want Hahn to even hesitate thinking about the fan reaction when faced with decent offers for Danks et al, and being at or near .500 might give him pause for thought.
  14. Jace Fry had his 4th outing. Perfect inning, no strikeouts. 4.1 IP, 2H, 0ER, 1BB, 4K in total for Great Falls.
  15. Updated OP. Good to see re: the changeup.
  16. Rodon pitched the second and got 2 strikeouts and a lineout
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 26, 2014 -> 09:26 PM) Surrendered a double and a single and 2 K's. 9.00 ERA. We want Aiken/Schwarber/Hoffman! Jarvis struggling...Louis (I'm Not to Be Confused with Luis) Silverio in RF for the Sox. Tyler Kolek hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire either in the GCL. 10 IP, 5 ER, 7 BB's, 10 K's, 4.50 ERA, .265 BAA Not surprised at Kolek's control problems, even in his youtube highlight videos throwing without a batter he was regularly out of the zone
  18. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 26, 2014 -> 08:05 PM) Thats not just my opinion.....records will dictate that fact. Robin has personally cost us at least 15 wins this season (real number is probably somewhere between 20 and 25). Using the bare minimum, our record would be 65-39 without those bonehead decisions which would be the best record in baseball. The best trade we could do this week would be to find a taker for Robin. However, since that isn't going to happen, I hope we go out and block a few holes which help prevent Batman's sidekick from ruining this entire season. lolololol
  19. s***, that's a nice haul for Boston, considering Peavy's poorness. Escobar had a terrific 2012 and 2013 and Hembree should be a really nice reliever.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 25, 2014 -> 11:45 PM) Wasn't a joke. He gets an A-minus? Whoever does that metric thinks Beckham is valuable. Same if it's a B-plus. I believe Beckham is a lousy offensive ballplayer. So it's the metric which says he's good vs. greg who says he is not good. I think most fans would agree with me. You can't argue with 82.46%. That's two decimal places. Are you saying you know better than a statistic which is done to two decimal places?
  21. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 25, 2014 -> 09:06 PM) More than likely right buttt you're no fun sir. Sorry, after looking more closely at his glasses, I have now realised that he will be a perennial MVP candidate
  22. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jul 25, 2014 -> 10:05 PM) Negatively and there is no catcher out there next year Ignoring trade possibilities, Russell Martin >>>> Tyler Flowers
  23. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jul 25, 2014 -> 08:58 PM) Maybe he couldn't see that good with contacts in If he couldn't see that well with contacts, he would have changed a long time before now. He said himself that he just did it for a new look and it's a coincidence he's been hitting a bit. He'll be back to his 0-4 with 2 Ks soon enough, don't worry.
  24. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jul 25, 2014 -> 09:48 PM) Why not the glasses been working for him Do you honestly think glasses have magically turned Tyler into an MLB-caliber hitter? The dude had what must surely have been one of the worst 100-125 or so PA in White Sox history, he was always bound to put a little run together, it's just coincided with him beginning to wear glasses
  25. I realise it's kinda s***ty to be unhappy about success, but I kind of wince when Flowers gets a hit (once it's not an important one), I really hope he doesn't hoodwink the management into getting another year as the starter
