  1. Who's to say he's done? His peripherals from this year don't indicate any deterioration in his performance from previous years, years in which he's been a very effective pitcher. There's been a plethora of players giving value to clubs at age 38+. At the moment our bullpen contains Scott Carroll, who is a career minor league player and striking out less than 4 per 9, and Scott Downs, who is actually older than Putz, and probably needs to be DFA at some point to avoid paying him $4.25m next year. There's two players currently in our bullpen who I reckon stand less of a chance contributing to a future than Putz (granted that obviously Putz could not replace Downs and we have Lindstrom and Jones to come back, however trades could be on the cards).
  2. Jace Fry pitched an inning in relief for Great Falls tonight: no hits, no walks and 2 Ks.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 07:47 PM) <!--quoteo(post=3003298:date=Jun 21, 2014 -> 08:30 PM:name=scs787)-->QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 08:30 PM) <!--quotec-->If they look to add a FA bat this offseason I'm looking for a LH bat to replace Dunn....V. Martinez, Sandoval, Lind, Seth Smith, Rasmus, or maybe Adam Laroach if they push to compete next year., would be the guys I'm looking at in that order. If we could sign Martinez and trade for Grandal, we could run out the following lineup: 1. Eaton, CF 2. Semien, 2B 3. Martinez, DH 4. Abreu, 1B 5. Garcia, RF 6. Gillaspie, 3B 7. Viciedo, LF 8. Grandal, C 9. Ramirez, SS That could be a pretty damn good lineup and we'd still have some interesting pieces in AAA (Micah, Sanchez, Davidson, Ravelo). What are you proposing to trade for Grandal with?
  4. Micah 4-4
  5. Cleto rocking a cool 7.16 ERA. Remember when the White Sox were putting him in high-leverage situations like a month and a half ago
  6. Surkamp leads the International League in strikeouts
  7. Surkamp's final line: 7.0 IP, 5H, 1ER, 1BB, 7K
  8. Micah 3-3, did get picked off
  9. Surkamp 5.0 IP, 5H, 1ER, 0BB, 7K. His K:BB rate is exceptional this year. Montas 4.0 IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 2K. 8 groundouts. Came out after a rain delay.
  10. Knights announcers raving about Carlos Sanchez's shortstop play tonight and his defence the whole season
  11. Surkamp 3.0 IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 5K Montas 3.0 IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
  12. He hadn't called that strike all day...
  13. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 01:57 PM) Rienzo is hot garbage. Bring back E. Johnson. Have you seen how he's been getting on at AAA?
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 02:55 PM) Next in line to start in Rienzo's place? Can't imagine they let him start another game, as he doesn't even give this team a chance of late. Eric Surkamp has struck out 10.5 per 9 and walked a little over 2 per 9 at Charlotte
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 01:35 PM) It's not that I think he's good, it's just the fact that someone's blind disdain for the player made them fail to realize that his last two games were far from something to b**** about, relatively speaking I didn't b**** about it, just pointed out that I disagree with it as any sort of sign he's about to turn it around.
  16. I was just in the middle of typing "here comes a Dunn bomb for the three true outcomes"... so close.
  17. The sarcasm detector on this forum is absolutely awful
  18. Great challenge
  19. Adam Lopez has to be close too?
  20. Goes 3-0 on Abreu, walks Dunn, 1-0 on Tank and Tank swings at 4 straight balls, ending with a DP. He is a very bad man.
  21. Jose taking balls!!! And then that ffs
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 12:48 PM) Flowers has looked different the past two nights. Looks like he might have a little bit more of that line-drive oriented swing back. We'll see, that guy changes batting approaches like the wind blows. ... give it up. Tyler Flowers is an awful hitter and there's not much chance he'll ever be anything else. Judging someone by two nights is silly, particularly when they went 1 for 7 with a single and 2 Ks.
  23. When is Spencer Adams starting up with them?
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 04:42 PM) Plus, Tomas almost means Thomas in Spanish, and we shouldn't trust those with two first names, like Ricky Bobby. Frank Thomas
  25. #TheRoadToAProtectedDraftPickSoWeCanSignShieldsOrSomeoneLikeThat might not be as catchy as #TheRoadToRodon but it could be just as crucial
