  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 15, 2008 -> 12:06 PM) I guess that is one of the bonuses of me commuting, and not living there. That is just brutal. Not going through the whole dorm experience there Tony? Well neither did I, although down here it really ain't that much of an experience.
  2. That's certainly a blow for the Lakers. They were looking pretty good as well. Definite top 4 contenders in the West with Bynum healthy IMHO.
  3. Now there's a rumor from Edmonton stating than Tallon is working on a deal for D Dick Tarnstrom.
  4. After reading reviews of the game etc. really seems as if we should have won the game, if not for stupid mistakes. Too many penalties (been a problem all season under Phillips), and Crayton had some crucial drops, and gave up on a possible TD. We need a CB in the 1st round no doubt. I also saw that Detroit may dangle Roy Williams for a 2nd round pick. That would be something I hope we'd take a look at.
  5. Well that sucks. I'll watch the replay tonight, but offensively with the amount of rushing we had, Romo may have cost us the game.
  6. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 14, 2008 -> 09:56 AM) And Julius Jones is not very good. No he isn't. He's speedy, but very soft and goes down easily on contact. Tied up at the half, very annoying to give up that late TD. Barber's had a great game, need to keep pounding the ball and allow Romo to use to Playaction. Our secondary certainly has issues against the pass though. This could go either way.
  7. Also I'm so annoyed that I'll be just starting at work when the Cowboys game kicks off here at 8:30 a.m. It's the nature of the beast when you live down here unfortunately though.
  8. Currently on the team, if I had to pick anyone it'd be Juan Uribe. And that's because I think he has a lot of talent, and he's wasted it. I don't think he's ever applied himself fully at practice, and he won't make any beneficial changes to his swing. And for $4.5M for this upcoming season, I think that's a big waste of money. From the past, Royce Clayton would probably be up there.
  9. On Brewerfan.net they currently have Melville rated at #4, here's what they say about him; The #8 rated prospect, Gerrit Cole; And also, at #9, SS Tim Beckham;
  10. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) Regardless, Andrew Bynum isn't even in the same area code. Of those four you listed above, the only one I'd arguably place in Paul's league is Dwight Howard (just in his ability to dominate). Wade is always injured... Boozer benefits from thea forementioned Deron Williams, and Melo just flat out doesn't change the game all that much. Did you see Bynum last night against Bogut? 25 points, 17 boards, 10 of 13 from the field, 3 blocks, that's a very nice line. Now granted he's only averaging 13 points a game, but early in the season Kwame Brown was starting. He's averagin 18.8 / 12.8 this month. I look for that to be the norm for the rest of the season. He's certainly not as good as Paul is ATM. But with the footwork that Bynum has and quickness, he's basically a mini Shaq just like Dwight.
  11. Jags had a chance, but just couldn't get a consistent pass rush on Brady at all. I think they showed you can still rack up points against them though.
  12. Jags hanging in there. Should be a very interesting 2nd half.
  13. Ok well I'd say CP3 has probably emerged as a top 5 player in the NBA ATM. Byron Scott's down a great job with him. But you could argue about these guys also; Dwight Howard - 22.4 points, 15.2 boards, 2.6 blocks, 60.5% from the field. Dwyane Wade - 25 points, 6.9 assists, 47.7% from the field. Carlos Boozer - 23.3 points, 10.8 boards, 55.2% from the field. Melo - 25.2 points, 6.9 boards. And you gotta have Kobe in the top 5. On value to their team's you could argue about a Tim Duncan also.
  14. You see I don't know about that. Paul is a hell of a PG right now, and probably just ahead of Deron Williams as the best player from that draft. But Bynum could be as dominant as Ming and Howard in a season or 2. 20/10 bigs don't exactly grow on trees, they're very scarce.
  15. He is a stud though. That contract at least can be justified more than the Di-Pietro deal IMHO. And besides, Montreal were going to make him a HUGE deal in the off-season as well IIRC.
  16. Quentin puts up a .800 OPS in 2008, I'll take that. I think a .900 OPS is what he's capable of doing in the future, and if he stays healthy, I think he can do put up those type of numbers, especially since he'll be hitting half of his games at the Cell. This could really be one of KW's best trades right here.
  17. Who was the guy the Cubs took then? Tyler Colvin maybe? Because I remember they then didn't draft from round 2 to 4 or 5, but they really went over slot when they had their next pick.
  18. They could always go with a "These kids can play" motto if we acquired the likes of Kendrick though I guess. But if you're going to trade Paulie Walnuts, now is the time to do so.
  19. Right now nobody is going to touch Crede with a 5 foot pole, until he shows that he is completely healthy. That may not be until ST. Uribe was IMHO a mistake, re-signing him. The only logic I can see now is if he thought he could trade him for something, but right now that doesn't look like it's going to be the case. I don't want to pay $4.5M for a utility IF who puts up a sub .300 OBP in most occasions. That's 1 move, where I would like to see how he defends the re-signing. Did he know that he would acquire Cabrera soon after? If so, why re-sign Uribe for that price if you're going to be stuck with him?
  20. LaPointe's only worth ATM is being a clubhouse veteran. Only playing about 5mins a game on the 4th line. Perrault's been a bust, which is annoying because he had a decent season with Phoenix last season (maybe offer him back to them?) Right now, those type of veterans who aren't core players, need to be trade bait.
  21. I think everyone is regretting not choosing Andrew Bynum in that draft from a couple of seasons ago also. I loved Isiah's logic is picking Charlie Frye over him. Can't remember who the Bulls picked in that draft (think everyone wanted Gerald Green, but they didn't, that was a fun draft thread), but we had the next pick after the Lakers and we chose (gulp) Fran Vazquez.
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) Lets just say everything goes well in the 1st half(usually does for the Sox) and they are some how in the race come June-July. Maybe that money goes toward taking on a salary at the deadline. Or, as you said, it goes into the draft. I don't have the exact number in front of me, but I know our picks are few and far between in the early rounds, so making spending over slot could happen with the newly acquired funds. Ideally that would be the best scenario. I'd just like to see more of an international presence from us also. With us not having a 2nd round pick, we need to take the best player available at #8. I want a Jay Bruce type of prospect there, not a Drew Stubbs (I think that was the guy the Cubs took in the 1st round a year or 2 back).
  23. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 08:50 AM) I like our overall lineup and bullpen. I just have 0 faith in the rotation(I'm starting to sound like a broken record here), I just can't see a contender having JC, Danks and Floyd at the back of the rotation. The bullpen still needs improving IMHO. I don't have much faith in MacDougal or Thornton heading into this season, while it's very possible Linebrink could post an ERA around the 4.50 mark. Of course it's always a crapshoot, but I still think we need to improve 1 or 2 spots in there. Getting Justin Speier in a Konerko deal would help the situation.
