QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) Of course Pierz has never taken a walk in his life and most likely never will. That you don't mind so much because he also never strikes out much.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) I have no problem with AJ defensively, especially if this 20 HR thing he's got goin' on this year is going to continue for the next three-four years. Plus, he's pretty damn good at blocking balls in the dirt. Gosh, are Konerko and Iguchi the ONLY two guys in this lineup who realize that Chacon walks an awful lot of guys? I suppose with our lineup, really you've got 3 guys in Gooch, Paulie and Pods who know how to take a walk, which is something Crede, Uribe etc. need to learn to do a better job of if they're going to stick around for the long - term.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) He has a weak arm, though. But yes, I agree with you that his throw-out % is extremely decieving. CERA is of course the most important stat though, and A.J would be one of the league leaders no doubt.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) Oddly I dont see them getting 2 hit and 3 hit all the time like we do. They've got 2 hits so far tonight. They had 4 yesterday.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) He is a good pitcher. Is he someone that should shut your offense completely down. One solo homer and that is it. NO He had a 1.50 ERA in his 2 games for the Yanks before this. And how do you think the Yanks fans feel about their offense up against Contreras, the guy they got rid of?

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) I should have put "one of the worst" instead of the worst. I honestly had no clue that Crede's OPS was as high as it is now. Just imagine what that OPS would be if he didn't have that bad May.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) As you know, I was talking about everyday lineups...and not roster changes that have happened. Kudos to finding a worse one so quickly though. Well Buck's played mostly everyday, Murhpy is at the moment, don't know if Ruben Gotay is much better.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Our 8-9 hitters continue to be the worst in the American League. Would you prefer John Buck and Donnie Murphy instead at the moment?

Say what you will about Paulie's clutch hitting, the man knows how to work a walk.

How to help our offense?
The #3 spot seems to be the key as always, the 1 and 2 guys lay a good platform, and then you've got Konerko and Dye who usually produce in the 4 and 6 spots. What can be done? Well in my opinion, unless Ken Griffey Jr. comes Southside, we need to put Aaron Rowand back in the #3 spot, and hope his power comes around. Put Everett in the #5 spot, move Uribe up the order a little if you want (to Rowand's 7 spot to try and get him going again).

Mulder for Haren, Barton, and Calero
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 07:17 AM) This trade was very lopsided in favor of the A's. The Huddy trade was lopsided in favor of the Braves. Just imagine if they kept Hudson what their rotation would look like right now; Hudson Harden Zito Haren Blanton

8/8 Games
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) was Thompson up with the Braves earlier for some reason that name sounds very familiar. Yeah, he used to pitch with Texas IIRC. He's been injured for the majority of the year.

Was Bradley lined up on Travis Daniels tonight?

Discovery's Trip
Bad Weather once again postponing the landing for the moment. They may have to land in Calfornia or even New Mexico instead, but that's unlikely.

Colleges
QUOTE(KJean @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) I'm a Accounting and Finance major. I went there knowing I wanted to major in Accounting, but just recently decided to double major. The College of Business is great with exposing you to all different types of majors (well they actually require you to take a bunch of different classes in and out of the college of business) and it's "easy" to pick up a second major or minor the way the programs are set up. I can't speak from personal experience about the university helping with deciding majors. But they give you the flexibility to take a huge variety of classes that sound appealing to you, esp. if you're undecided cause then you'll probably go into the College of Arts and Sciences. My roommate started as a Journalism major but switched to Broadcast Communication this past year and she didn't loose any credits or have any go to waste. Plus it doesn't really matter if you're undecided your frosh or soph year, it actually can be quite good because then you can take a variety of different classes and such. Wooo sorry that was long, hope it helped. Exactly what I'm doing down here. I suppose in American Terms I would be a junior in college, as I'm in year 2 of my 3 year course. And for my course, we were forced to do 10 "core" units of Accounting, Macro - Economics, Micro Economics, Managment, Business Data Analysis (Stats), Finance, Marketing, Basic Business Law, Business Communication and some other I.T sort of course doing Access and Excel stuff. This semester I'm undertaking International Financial Reporting (which has become quite important now since the world are now undertaking International Accounting Standards), Cost Accounting, Money and Capital Markets and Business Finance. So for anyone who's thinking of doing that, that's the type of stuff you're gonna do.
