Cotts has done a good job at keeping the ball in the park this year. Let's hope it continues here. -

I hope Vargas is still looking as bad as his last outing against the Twinkies. Oh and the Giants are winning 5-4. -

And now we get to see Arizona's brutal bullpen. The runs SHOULD keep flowing. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) Ortiz has been a piece of s*** his last 4 starts, ERA around 7. What does that mean you ask? It means we WILL get shutdown. Garland's gonna have to step up to avoid the sweep. Ortiz gives out free passes at will. Unfortunately the Sox never take a walk. The D-Backs have 7 walks in this series so far, the White Sox, a measly 1. -
Be warned though, 89 appearances last season;

Oh, this may have been posted already, but there was this bit of news from an old article on Brooks and Getz; http://www.greatfallstribune.com/apps/pbcs.../506100346/1006

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:26 AM) Yeah, draft-eligible sophomore that apparently wasn't rated as highly due to signability doubts and exposure... Appears to be a better pick than originally thought. Without a second rounder, and having drafted him before and obviously having had discussions with him 2 years ago, they must feel they can sign him or they wouldn't have taken him, IMO... If they can sign those first 10-14 picks this year, I'll be thrilled no matter what happens with Danks... Here's what John Sickels said on Brooks again; I'm pretty sure I read somewhere the Sox thought of Brooks as a 2nd round pick talent wise.

Would that package even be enough to get Eric Chavez by himself, the way he is hitting now? No way would they add Barry Zito as well.

There was a thread on Brower from a couple of days ago. Basically, he was a great set up guy for the Giants last season, but NL hitters have figured out his main weapon, his slider. It's worth a shot though, since AL hitters haven't seen much of his stuff, and well we need any help we can get in the bullpen.

Does Katie Holmes show a greater intelligence that when she appeared on Letterman? I'm off to see it this weekend probably.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) That should be my first priority to find a smiley with an Aussie flag. Thanks everyone for the good wishes. I appreciate it.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) Nah, there was a report that we had shipped a minor leaguer to the Pirates to help the Mets get Benson and block the Twins from getting him. But it was a false report as this would have been a form of collusion. The Pirates wanted Jason Kubel, the Twinkies wouldn't give him up, so Benson went to Mets.
-
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) Didn't we give away some prospects to help the Mets get Kris Benson last year, thus keeping him from the Twins? No that was a straight swap b/w Pittsburgh and New York IIRC. You're probably thinking of the 4 team Nomar Garciaparra deal.

Bill Mueller could be traded to the White Sox

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) We will need the pen with the cuban connection pitching in the hot summer cell this year. Contreras did have an ERA of 3.18 before Ozzie decided to make Widger his catcher yesterday ya know. Right now he's averaging 6 innings a start. Hernandez has an average of below 6 innings however....... -

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) Really? I thought I would be chewed out over here for even suggesting a Marte departure. Thats interesting, thanks. After his performances in the last month, I think a lot of people are now warming up to the idea of seeing Marte go in a trade. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 08:09 AM) WTF were you doing listening to their conversations and not hitting on them? What were you thinking? At least ummmm teach em about the rules of baseball or something.........

redandwhite would know more than me about this, but Boston would probably want to upgrade their pen correct? -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) Of course, another explanation could be Bartolo Colon falling off a boat... Maybe they ran out of Krispy Kreme Donuts and he decided to go fishing instead......

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) Both of our cuban pitchers need to trust our catchers and the game that they call. Both of them are steller when they get the ball, look for the sign, and hit the target. When they start to shake off the catcher, go 3 or 4 signs deep its going to be a long night. Have you seen the stats when AJ is catching Contreras compared to Widger. I'd like to think Widger has a better CERA than AJ when catching El Duque though.
