  1. Ok, you guys better let it out now. How bad was Jason with those so called "Fastballs" of his.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Damn I thought this was a queen prawn thread She's got to get her hamster's hooked up now.

    QUOTE(mwolfson @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) Can anyone give a little brief scouting reporting on each of these prospects? If you look around in most of draft threads you'll find lots of good stuff, but here's some things off the top of my head; Broadway - B-Mac clone, great curveball, good change Brooks - Rated as a 2nd rounder, was previously drafted by us, RHP. Getz - Michigan 2nd baseman, scrappy guy with good speed. Rote - Good stuff but a little wild IIRC. Cunnigham - Flat out raked in his league, good signing, he's an OF. Cortes - Was committing to San Diego State, RHP. Richard - Former Football QB, bullpen guy, lefty.
  4. I'm cheap, that's all I'm gonna say.
  5. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) Yeah, I played this many a times back in my senior year of high school. Journalism class really just consisted of visiting addictinggames.com As did year 11 or Junior classes of High School as you guys would call it, Information Technology.

    This was bandied about on the other thread, so I'm just gonna merge it. I assumed it was Cunningham BTW.
  7. I'm still holding out hope that the Russian Billionaire might purchase the Blackhawks one day. Unfortunately IIRC he had his eye on the Vancouver Canucks instead.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) We've been pegging the 100 degree mark. I love the oven like temperatures. It wouldn't be higher than 50 down here in the Aussie Winter at the moment. Certainly gonna be an adjustment when I get off the plane.

    QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) I'm assuming Cunningham is the odd man out, unless it's Brooks.
  10. Oh goody. It's been over 105 reguarly over the past week, and doesn't look like letting up soon. Glad I got access to a pool and an air - conditioned house is all I gotta say.
  11. Freddy Garcia takes the hill tonight against Elmer Dessens. The Sox are on a 2 game winning strak, and need to keep winning to keep those pesky Twinkies at bay. Lets go Sox!!!!!!
  12. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) The Coliseum isn't a hitter's park? Go figure! :headshake Actually, this is pretty funny (and weird at the same time), but the Coliseum is the 4th highest scoring ballpark in the league at the moment, at .218 runs above average. However, it's one of the worst parks for homers, walks and triples. Don't forget the A's rotation outside of Rich Harden (who's been injured) has hardly been stellar either.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) DBAH0 wasn't meant to be implicated by my post. Sorry about that. That's alrite YAS, I knew you definitely meant that when you posted it.
  14. Some guys who haven't been mentioned so far; Ronnie Belliard - .289/.330/.451. Not hitting like a 1 year wonder. Ryan Freel - .287/.401/.407. Now that he's the full - time 2nd baseman, he's starting to get noticed a lot more. 17 SB's as well. Chone Figgins - Excellent lead off guy, has 21 SB's, hitting .264, room for imporvement. Craig Counsell - Laugh if you will, but a guy who has a .389 OBP and a .818 OPS is doing a lot better than other 2nd baseman in the league. Has 35 BB's.
  15. I suppose the one thing that doesn't help Mark being recognised to "others" as a superstar pitcher is he doesn't strike out batters a lot, like other pitchers with better stuff. He has 67 on the year from 108IP, or 5.58 K/9. Johan Santana has 121 on the season so far. That doesn't mean Mark isn't as good of a pitcher though. He's crafty, eats up innings (tied for the season lead with Halliday), and doesn't walk very many hitters at all. We're very lucky to have him in our rotation.
  16. Yeah I have lots of times. Use this for a bigger window; http://www.addictinggames.com/curveball.html
  17. Sounds like Gage brought all of the LA traffic with him.
  18. Right now it'd be hard to trade Mark for anybody. He pitches half his games at a park where home runs are plentiful. Last year this was his main weakness, he had something like a 5.02 ERA at home. This season? 5-0 with a 2.29 ERA and only 5 HR's given up in 55 IP, with a 37/4 K/BB ratio. He's still quite young, only making $6,000,000 this season, and we have him under out control for the next 2 to 3 years.
  19. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 04:44 AM) Nice try. I said Chavez was overrated and overpaid based on his career numbers. Remember the "never having a season with an OPS of .900 despite being paid like a slugger" argument? :rolly Speaking of Chavez: Playing half of your games at Oakland wouldn't help anybody's OPS much at all. There's other factors for Chavez making what he's making. 1) He's a gold glover 2) He's the team's leader Would you say Chavez is the most overpaid for his position with his stats though? Adrian Beltre - (5 years, $63 million) .244/.279/.361 Mike Lowell - (making something like $7,500,000) - .237/.289/.372
  20. I'll be seeing em in person quite a bit over the next few weeks. There's rumors going around that they'll acquire Jose Mesa soon.
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) Dan and I decided he should be called "Brisbane Brice" from now on. Why? He was born in Adelaide wasn't he?
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) Or just don't trade him at all? Well he shouldn't be moved from the rotation in the 1st place. What I'm saying is that IF he is moved to the pen, unless he's the closer, it's not worth having $6 million invested in a long relief guy. Trade him for something we could need instead.
  23. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) Wasn't she engaged to Chris Klein? Yes for 15 months.

    QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) Cortes is a nice nice sign. Very much so, the Sox brass certainly did their homework. Hopefully Brooks will get done soon, Cunningham as well, and then we can throw some good money at Jordan Danks.
