  1. From FoxSports.com, FoxSports Article 1. Jeremy Reed, White Sox, Age: 22 The ChiSox selected Reed, a Long Beach State product, with their second-round pick in 2002. That same year, he had a solid season in the Sally League, but in 2003 he went crazy with the bat. He showed outstanding plate discipline and good gap power in the Carolina League for the first half of 2003, and then absolutely destroyed the Southern League in the second half. Here are his eye-popping numbers at AA-Birmingham: .409 AVG/.474 OBP/.591 SLG. His walk rate slipped a bit, but the power numbers are unassailable. He's already proved he can handle the high minors, and his bat is a thing of beauty. He's one of the best position prospects in the game. ETA: Late 2004.
  2. I would be very happy gettin Heilman in exchange for Koch. It ain't Weathers, but then again it ain't Cedeno and that's what we should be thankful for. He's a small profile on him, he was their no. 2 rated prospect enterin the 2003 season behind Jose Reyes. 2. Aaron Heilman, RHP, Age: 24 The Mets spent their first-round pick in 2001 on Heilman, who hails from Notre Dame. He's a polished arm with a good body frame for pitching. In the minors, he's been impressive at almost every stop. This year, he didn't overwhelm at AAA-Norfolk, but he certainly didn't disappoint, either. He has good velocity and a deep repertoire, and he strikes guys out without compromising his command. He's struggled, mostly with his control, in the majors this season, but fits and starts are to be expected. Once he adjusts, he should settle in as a fine mid-rotation guy. ETA: Now.
  3. Cotts and Honel are almost untouchable, unless u get a great player in return. Wright I'd be inclined to giv one more chance, and Rauch won't be that big of a loss.
  4. The Jessica Alba siggy for a start. Man u could look at that thing all day long.
  5. I thought I saw that too. Makes sense for both teams, more for Seattle though. If this did happen, they mite need Jose to play an infield spot, but they already hav Guillen and now Spiezio as well.
  6. Looks like they don't wanna giv up Weathers, Star Ledger Article A deal with the White Sox for closer Billy Koch might require the Mets to pay as much as half of the $10 million remaining on the final two years of Cedeno's contract, which in essence would mean they would pay $11.375 million to have Koch for one year. The Mets would want Koch to defer some salary in that case. Newsday Article The White Sox are offering the most talent in .return for Cedeño: Long Island product Billy Koch. New Mets pitching coach Rick Peterson had Koch in Oakland for the 2002 season, and Koch won the American League Rolaids Relief Award. In return for Koch and his $6.4-million salary, however, the White Sox want the Mets to pay Cedeño's 2005 paycheck of $5 million, which seems to have turned off the Mets.

  18. I know he's very popular round here as a guy to replace Maggs possibly, News: The Rocky Mountain News reported that Payton was given a one-year contract offer that was in line with what free-agent outfielders have been able to get this offseason.
  19. Is that Beastly? He didn't give a name.
  20. The Players Union is really seriously startin to screw baseball rite now. Alex Rodriguez should hav the rite to restructure his contract if he wants to. They do it in the NFL why not the MLB? I hope Bud Selig actually does the rite thing for once and approves the trade. Othawise Maggs to LA for Mota, Perez and Miller will be back on, and Nomar can join the Dodgers or Angels in free agency in 2005.
