Why would they start Kopech first game after the break? All pitchers are rested.  Sorry if someone else already asked this.

He had the most rest, I assume. If you look around baseball, it's pretty split whether teams use their best pitchers or most rested starters coming out of the break.

He has never been good beyond a few games here and there as a starter. His 69 good innings out of the bullpen in 2021 is really all they have.

A legitimate GM would likely either deal Kopech and Crochet or just be resigned to their fate of hoping to get 60-70 quality innings out of the bullpen.

It appears that is the extent their body can take, not sure Crochet can take that much.

Crochet has burned through so much service time and it seems very unlikely he'll ever become a starter. I'd imagine he has very minimal trade value at this point.

Kinda begs the question of why tho? The Sox really can't kick the idea that KW is still the man behind the curtain. Personally I think he's maybe involved in some scouting but that's it. The Sox should probably just let him and Hahn go at the same time, get two birds stoned with one joint when the time comes.

That would have made sense to do 10 years ago but we're talking about a Jerry Reinsdorf organization so 🙂

    Jose Abreu last 28 days - .284/.316/.816

His June was actually pretty solid with 5 HR's and 21 RBI. He only had 1 HR and 20 RBI in March/April/May. Still a negative WAR player. Got this one totally wrong.

Nick Madrigal - .278/.335/.700 but per usual has hurt his hamstring and is out again. Had 1 WAR up to this point, still think we gave up on him way too soon.

It's always the same story with Madrigal. Prorate his stats over ~140 games and he ends up looking quite valuable. But it doesn't seem like his body can hold up to being an every day player.

  5. 2/3s of the roster is dedicated to players who contribute nothing. Robert has more WAR than every other position player on the team combined. They're the Charlotte Knights without him.

Fixating on who pitches when or any decision on the margins is a total waste of time when the talent level is this abysmal.

Robert is reaching that 7-8 WAR player before our eyes. It completely changes everything about this teams future if he does.

Still gonna need a lot more around him. The Angels have two players better than him and they win ~77 games every year.
