  1. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) I mean, wouldn't our rotation suck then? Quintana Shields Rodon Gonzalez Ranaudo? Yuck. Yeah, I don't like a trade with Texas anymore, either. Especially since Fulmer has been struggling.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) What's gonna be most frustrating to me is if Sale is moved, but Sox hold onto pieces like Frazier, Melky, Robertson, Shields, Gonzalez. If you trade Sale, trade everyone cause you're going to suck anyway. I don't think he's going to get traded, but we're sort of running out of time to make other moves if he is. Depends what we get back for Sale. I'm not really for this, but if you were able to get Mazara and Profar, that's a "win in the next couple of years" move. That would mean Garcia is out (Mazara plays OF), Melky could go to DH, and Profar can play a number of positions. I'm not saying I like that idea, but there are ways in which the Sox could only trade Sale.
  3. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) We have zero idea how much time and effort has been put into the movement of Sale from the front office. Right. Until the actual deadline comes and the whole roster is still in tact, I'm going to assume Hahn is doing something other than talking to the Red Sox about Chris Sale.
  4. QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) Definitely some conflicting reports this morning - Boston may be actively talking to the White Sox but chances don't seem more than extremely remote that they do anything. Could be a different player.
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:32 AM) Basically in the last 12 hours it went from "it won't happen, 1% chance" to "eh" to "maybe" to "oh wow this could be happening", at least from insiders. A lot of people had this pegged. Everything escalates right before the deadline. Makes me feel silly for following so closely 10 days ago.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) People with your self-righteous, smarter-than-thou attitude are why no one likes talking with you. Quit being a petulant baby and I'll stop being all "smarter than thou". Because the Cubs fans did so much s***ting in 2005. The last decade has earned the White Sox and their fans every ounce of s*** they get. From all directions. Again, quit being such a baby. I moved to Austin well into my 20s. The Twins rivalry actually matters, though. This nonsense doesn't fly either. When the White Sox are good, they sell plenty of tickets and make the organization plenty of money. If the MLB didn't think Chicago could manage two teams, the White Sox wouldn't be here. This is a general Cubs board. The Cubs are good. That play was great when you consider who made it. I'm not sure what's so hard for you. Get off my high horse? You're being such a baby, everyone is on a higher horse than you.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 07:07 AM) Saying the catch wasn't that great isn't Cubs malice. You don't have to be the Cubs white knight defender, nobody was saying the Cubs sucked You didn't read his post QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:37 PM) I hate the Cubs. Watching them implode in October will redeem this season. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 07:56 AM) For a non-Cubs fan, you sure are sensitive to any criticism of them on this board. People with Quinnie's attitude are annoying as s***, and they're the reason our fanbase isn't taken seriously. That and we don't show up to games. Our fanbase's distaste for the Cubs (which is misplaced, because they don't f***ing matter to us), is a scar on the White Sox.
  8. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 07:56 AM) Think I'd rather have Profar over Gallo.. Not at all impressed with Gallo Unfortunately, Profar's control isn't great for a player with as little major league experience as he has.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 06:42 AM) Anonymous person internet money bets always reinforce points Because Cubs malice is always worth discussing.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:37 PM) I could make that exact play right now. That would have been awful by an OF. I hate the Cubs. Watching them implode in October will redeem this season. I would bet you $10,000 you couldn't make that play. He's a pitcher. It's cool he made a good play. Crying about it doesn't put the white sox any closer to a championship
  11. It's simple. With this roster, there is no sense in keeping both Q and Sale. The right package now or in the offseason should become available to move one or both of them.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:39 PM) That is just one example that makes me wonder about the negotiation skill of this front office. Yes, you can come up with reasons (one is a pitcher). But there are other examples. Two are pitchers, but the point still stands. Theoretically, the best players on this roster have extremely team friendly contracts (Sale, Q, Eaton)

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) Deadpool: I'm glad you brought this up. Heard from one of the mainstream media members yesterday and I was asking about this. Was told that Hahn still isn't "up" on things (direct quote) and that's why Kenny steps in as much as he has been. This brings up an interesting point. This is year three of Hahn supposedly being in charge. What could he possible be not "up" on after all that time? (Not counting the years he spent in the organization working under Kenny...) Just gets curiouser and curiouser doesn't it? Mark Definitely. Kenny had said in the past that Rick will want to make a move and will come talk to Kenny and debate the merits of the potential move. But if that's the case, then Kenny is the GM. I'll go as far as saying that it's possible Rick could have more success elsewhere, but might ruin his chances under this regime.
  14. Bananarchy replied to NCsoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hard to tell. First of all, it's really unclear who is in charge in this organization. I'm not saying he has done a great job, but I'm concerned he might not have full control of personnel based on the various comments from Kenny on the way the organization works. In most organizations, the GM is hired as head of personnel with a few exceptions. To answer your question, most organizations would have fired Hahn, but most would probably not have his boss working that closely over his shoulder.
  15. QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) So the idiot Hahn traded away one of the best relief pitchers in baseball for someone who cannot be any better than a 5th outfielder scrub. Further proof that anyone who advocates wholesale trading of Sox players with Hahn in charge is simply delusional at best and hopelessly insane at worst. You're not very good at talking baseball.
  16. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) Wonder if Kenny is still unsure whether the team will be buyers or sellers. He's like your dad who still uses Internet Explorer and says it's great.
  17. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) Oh no Can't disrupt the core. We have our CF, just trade 4 prospects for Jason Castro in the offseason and we're set! Rick Hahn's liked him way back in 2012 Maybe we can bring Griffey out of retirement to play center?
  18. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:50 PM) At least Melky always brings it. Exactly why we should sell it.
  19. Jesus, make 29 phone calls trying to move Melky Cabrera.
  20. Bases loaded and they don't put Abreu out there...Robin gotta Robin.
  21. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) Is .098/.132/.137 good? Are you measuring literacy in percent? Then no.
  22. Remember when Jimmy Rollins was the worst of our problems? Those were the days.
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) They gave up on developing the new delivery awfully quick. Well, they aren't as good of talent evaluators as we thought. They immediately thought this kid was Chris Sale and put him on the Chris Sale track. Problem is, Fulmer isn't close to the MLB ready prospect Sale was.
