  1. Edwin and Javy always had stellar peripherals. Santiago is like the opposite of that.
  2. Thanks for the info, but this kind of stuff makes me crazy. Why do we need to bring in a veteran? Give the job to Jones and let him run with it. Why waste money on a position that doesn't matter in a year that doesn't matter? Sign a veteran catcher if you must. End of rant.
  3. As he should. He had an xFIP of 2.77 last year. He should thrive in the role. Damn I love Rick Hahn.
  4. That is sobering, as 5 of those guys are offensive black holes.
  5. In all seriousness, I'd be very happy with a ADA-Ackley swap. Ackley fits the Sox MO -- offering a failed former blue chipper a change of scenery and playing time.
  6. Yeah, but wouldn't it be fun to watch for a year?
  7. This post has been edited by the Soxtalk staff to remove objectionable material. Thank you.
  8. Thank you for being one of the few informed voices here.
  9. Eaton gets on base and has high baseball IQ, meaning that he is the antithesis of the guys the Sox are usually attracts to. I'm surprised and happy he'll be leading off for the good guys. Now, what kind of catcher can we get for De Aza?
  10. xFIP predicts future performance, so I'd guess that's something they would consider when resigning someone.
  11. Well the Sox do -- that's why they let MB walk, and that's probably one of the main reasons they're trading Santiago.
  12. I just can't argue with people who ignore advanced statistics.
  13. He has a career xFIP of 4.66 in his career as a starter.
  14. I was going to say that Skaggs must have a drinking or drug problem to be given away like that by the DBs.
  15. Eaton is a 25-year-old, inexpensive version of Gardner. I so hope this goes through.
  16. He has a history of poor command, including his minor league record.
  17. Love this guy. Always have. Throws mid-90s with minimal effort. Above average command. IF he can pitch, he'll pitch well.
  18. True, but no one involved would really need to become Chris Sale. If most of them were above replacement level, it would still be a huge win for us given the number of holes we have.
  19. I've got to tell you boys...If we clean out Arizona's system, it would completely accelerate the trajectory of our franchise. If the package included ALL of the names you mentioned above, I would make the deal in a heartbeat.
