  1. He won't be worth the money, though. His power is his only tool. Sincerely, ESPN and Fangraphs
  2. Who cares where he was looking? He's awesome and I wish we had five of him.
  3. Lindstrom has blown every closing opportunity he's been given for the past decade. But hey, our staff knows better I guess.
  4. We have a closer -- we choose not to use him in that role.
  5. Except Beckham is a piece of trash. 2009 is over folks.
  6. I'm going to predict De Aza straight up for Jesus Montero; solves our predilection for massive human beings.
  7. Wow! I don't know what's more exciting -- possibly adding Tanaka or dumping Danks' salary?
  8. Time to get the champaign out of the coolers...
  9. That's his shtick. That and the Yoko Ono avatar.
  10. And Shields will be within our price range due to his age.
  11. My presumption is that you could get both Shields and Lowrie for $150. If not, move onto something else. The idea of Tanaka being an ace is a big assumption. I think he's a #3 guy.
  12. If you're asking me personally, I'd rather we save our money for next year and go after both Jed Lowrie and James Shields. Or we could go really crazy and throw $300 at Kershaw...
  13. Alexei is another offensive black hole, so I'm not surprised. That's what a .300 obp and no power will get you. The offensive values are compared to others who play the same position, so the middle infielder thing doesn't hold.
  14. There are much better ways to spend that kind of money.
  15. My comment was tongue-in-cheek, but if you compare Danks' and Surkamp's Oliver projections for 2014 you'll see it's not as far fetched as you might think.
  16. Surkamp is probably just as good as Danks at this point.
  17. People really like to select data during certain time periods that make Beckham look good. It's called confirmation bias. Me, I like aggregating data. What I know is this: In nearly 2500 major league ABs, Gordon Beckham is a -40.5 offensive player. Think about that. He is an atrocious, s***ty baseball player.
  18. If you're going to get personal, maybe you should take some high school math or learn how to read stats? Or would that make you not a real fan anymore? Since 2009, Gordon's best offensive year was -5.5 WAR. That's his BEST year. He has been a black hole offensively for the last four years, and is a major reason we have been one of the worst offenses in baseball during that period.
  19. I agree with you, but I do see them bringing in some like like JR Murphy.
  20. Think he'll finally learn how to pull the ball? There are no data remotely suggesting a "breakout" -- you all need to stop talking out of your ass and give up on the dream.
