Eloy is, imo, never going to be a high average guy. He'll slug a ton and that's plenty. Moncada has scuffled but like you said, he's probably exhausted. I was never sold on Giolito as a true #1. I hope I'm wrong

Everytime Roberts clobbers a pitch, he never looks like he got all of it yet that was 430+ feet to right center. My word

Maybe next game for Foster they should let him go 3. Start stretching him out. He reminds me of Jesse Crain, but he also might make for a nice starter one day

Off days discussion: Best player after Trout?
Tough to say. Bellinger, Betts and Soto are great. In 5 years it might be Robert and Tatis.

Just because Murphy, Debrincat and Carlsson (who's a nobody in general and ALWAYS sucks which is why he's typically watching from the pressbox) had bad games doesn't mean the other 3 aren't ass

Cease gives me Javy Vazquez vibes. I know a lot of people here hated Vazquez but all in all he had a nice career. Like Vazquez, Cease can sometimes have disgusting stuff but instead of varying night to night it varies pitch to pitch. Vazquez was the same way. You just never knew what would happen next

You say some questionable things. Moncada? Statistically it's not there but man the guy reached base 22 games in a row before last night after missing most of camp. Take it easy

8/11 Sox at Detroit game thread
They get enough baseball history. Benetti lobs Stone softballs often about "who's the best _____ you ever saw/played with" or "do you remember the player that you ______ for the first time in your career?" They also do Sox Math and Sox Files which are occasionally baseball *history* related. I don't really give a shi who Hawk, of all people, thinks is the greatest player at some random category, sorry.

Yeah, hearing Hawk whine about the umpires & hearing his recollection of the best 2 ball hitter of all catchers he's ever seen in his 5 decades in baseball was a joyous time to be a fan

See post above Robert overall is fine but his last few games have been horrendous and his patience at the plate as well as pitch selection has been crap. We heard how he murders fastballs yet now he's taking them or missing them Again this thread is about poor effort. That to me qualifies. Garcia being better than normal isn't necessarily a huge notch in his belt ocnsidering he isn't all that good, but he's another good who swings away and everything seems like a joke

"Every now and again they have good approaches" is what I said about Grandal and Abreu. What I mean is that they don't go up there hacking away immediately. Their numbers don't reflect it, but they do produce SOME good at bats. Keuchel's comments seem to be directed toward guys giving lax effort. I don't think guys having good at bat's means he's referring to them. You can live with physical mistakes but not mental mistakes. Good at bats = physical mistakes. Shit at bats = mental mistakes
