Could also be a deal where we take on a bad contract (specifically saw Darling mentioned) in exchange for Hossa's deal. Could also be something to get a team to the salary floor.

When the Coyotes took on Pronger's deal, they also asked for (IIRC) Niklas Grossman. When Detroit traded Datsyuk's contract, they also had to deal a first round pick with it. So yes, I wouldn't be surprised if the Hawks had to trade a player or high pick with the contract in order to make it happen.
June 18, 20187 yr I realize the contracts like Hossa's werent given out in good faith and that something needed to be done to stop them from happening. But the contracts were legal at the time. The recapture penalty should have had a grandfather clause or something.
June 19, 20187 yr Good signings so far this week for Bowman signing Hayden and Hinostroza for 2 years each at a combined 2.25 million. The draft and FA period is gonna make or break Bowman I think.
