In a vacuum, no. With the existing long-term salaries on the Hawks? Yes. Ask Toronto how having 3 forwards making $11M annually is working for them.  Look at it this way: DeBrincat+Saad or Panari

Hawks have a STACKED system in regards of defensive prospects.

Looks like that Saad trade isn't looking so bad afterall.

"Rumor has it that Panarin only wants to play in New York, LA or Chicago."

So yeah, it's still looking bad.

Are the Hawks more likely to win a Cup with Panarin from 2017-2019 or Saad from 2019-2021? If it's the former, bad trade, it's is the latter then it can be justified.  Time will tell, though it's not looking good with how awful Toews has been.

Free agency starts tomorrow.

Things we know:
Hawks will sign Cam Ward to what looks like a 1 year/2.5 million contract
Q wants a defensive defensemen.  Calvin DeHaahn (sp?) is the favorite or John Moore.

Gross. Cam Ward is still living off a Cup win 14 years ago. He sucks.

1 yr, 3 mil (Full NTC)

Chris Kunitz? Really?

Wow... Taveras told Isles he's not returning. Supposedly it's down to the Sharks or Leafs for him.

Taveras is going to the Maple Leafs

Hard to get excited about this team heading into 2019.

No reason to get excited at all. They have a better chance of being a bottom 5 team in the league than making the playoffs. I think that Crawford is finished based on the moves they made today. They're going to roll with Ward/Forsberg. It will be a stretch for them to get to 80 points this season if that is the case; 60-75 is more likely. Hopefully that is bad enough for a top 3 pick.

I disagree, I think they are gonna be so exciting!

We are selling some of our season tickets, anybody interested??

Embarrassing.  Especially giving Manning 2.25 million for 2 years.  Bowman better get Justin Faulk without giving up Saad.

Also worth note, Debrincat, Schmaltz, Sikura, and Forsling will need new deals within the next 2 years so I get the hesitancy of spending big, but ugh.

Hossa, Hino and Osterlie to AZ.  Haven't seen what is coming back.

How much cap room does that actually add as opposed to keeping him on LTIR?  Really worth giving up Vinny and Oesterle?

OFFICIAL: The #Blackhawks have acquired Marcus Kruger, MacKenzie Entwistle, Jordan Maletta, Andrew Campbell and a 2019 fifth-round draft pick from Arizona in exchange for Marian Hossa, Vinnie Hinostroza, Jordan Oesterle and a 2019 third-round pick.

CapFriendly says they will increase their cap space $4,650,000. I don't know how much they got for the LTIR>

And Hossa's contract goes on for 2 years after Kruger's (which ends after next season)

Great tweet:

People get mad about the Warriors building a super team but the Coyotes have now been able to land Chris Pronger, Pavel Datsyuk and Marian Hossa
