  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 10:43 PM) That Kane-Toews line works well again, big surprise. Crawford was allowed his one bad game, step back up on Saturday. I might have a heart attack by next Wednesday. HAWKS WIN!!!!!! Let's hope Q doesn't split it up for game 6.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 10:37 PM) The interesting part comes now for Coach Q. How quick is your trigger on Crawford in game 6 if he looks the same as he did tonight? He won't do it, it will have to be 3 or 4 before he thinks about it. He'll go down with Crow.
  3. The offense is woken up. What to make of Crawford? I would be real confident if it wasn't for him right now.
  4. Not sure if it's been posted, but Mitch Mustain has gone back to football after playing in the White Sox system last year. He's now QB for the Arena League San Jose SaberCats. http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la...0,3834833.story
  5. Micah was selected to the SAL All-Star game and walked away with MVP honors going 1-2 with 2 SB, stealing second and third on consecutive pitches, and scoring the winning run. http://baseballnewssource.com/minor-league...tar-game/23862/

  7. QUOTE (Jake @ May 25, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) I still think Chone Figgins is a good comp for Micah Johnson Brian Roberts may be a decent comp if his power develops to what he showed early in collegr
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 10, 2013 -> 08:41 AM) Also keep in mind that the 2B in W-S is Joey DeMichele, who is just now starting to hit a little. There is no way they demote him, but he's not ready to jump to AA either. So... Johnson probably isn't going anywhere for a while. Tyler Saladino is playing 2B in B-Ham, with Semien at short. If one of those two guys moves up to Charlotte at some point, AND if DeMichele is hitting in W-S, then you'll see them all move up a level, I'd think. With DeMichele, Johnson, Sanchez, and Semien in the pipeline do you trade Ramirez and Beckham for prospects. This team is in need of a rebuilding and restocking effort. If the value is there, do you pull the trigger?
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 9, 2013 -> 11:59 AM) Rienzo's having a very bad season. Can we blame the WBC?
  10. Micah Johnson, 2B Born: 12/18/1990 Ht: 5-11 Wt: 190 B/T: S/R Hometown: Indianapolis, IN Drafted: 2012, 9th Rd, 291st overall College: Indiana University Twitter: @Micah_Johnson3 Overview A hoosier by birth, Micah Johnson out of IU was drafted by the White Sox in the 2012 draft in the 9th round with the 291st overall selection. A preseason All-American in his Junior year, the only one in the Big Ten, Johnson missed half of his final season at IU due to elbow injury. During his high school career Micah earned all state honors and was named Indiana’s best athlete in the 2009 class by MaxPreps Baseball. According to rumor he once beat 2007 NBA No. 1 pick Greg Oden in one-on-one as a freshman. He joins Josh Phegley, Ethan Wilson, and Michael Earley as recent White Sox draft picks out of IU. Johnson utilizes a walking lead to help steal bases, which he learned in the Cape Cod league where he was coached by the father of Brian Roberts. College Career Johnson played 3 seasons at IU, the last of which saw him only play in 24 games due to injury, and his production suffer when he was in the lineup. Even with his down Junior year Micah finished out his IU career with a combined .308 batting average with 15 home runs, 86 RBI, and 32 stolen bases. His freshman year was by far his most productive at the plate as he hit for a .312 average and slugged 11 homeruns. A third basemen that season, he struggled defensively committing 17 errors. Micah’s sophmore season saw him move to second base where he was able to make a large turn around and solidify a spot on the All-Big Ten Second Team. At the plate he led IU in runs, stolen bases, triples, walks, and sac flies. Minor League Career 2012 Micah made his professional baseball debut with the Great Falls Voyagers in Rookie League. In 69 games he hit for a .273/.375/391 slash line with 19 SB on 25 attempts and 10 2B, 5 3B, and 4 HR. Micah struck out at a rate of 27% of AB with 74 SO to 43 BB. An area for improvement moving forward. Johnson capped his 2012 campaign with a selection as a Pioneer League Post-Season All-Star 2013 Having been promoted to Low-A Kannapolis, Micah is off to a tremendous start to the 2013 campaign, and presently leads all of Minor League Baseball with 54 stolen bases in 66 games, including 4 stolen bases in a single game against Greensboro on 5/6. For the season Johnson is currently batting .339/.422/.525 with 15 2B, 9 3B, and 5 HR. Micah was selected to the SAL All-Star game and walked away with MVP honors going 1-2 with 2 SB, stealing second and third on consecutive pitches, and scoring the winning run. 11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 10:35 AM) Puig strikes out against Erik Johnson after trying to lay one down on the first pitch to move the runner over. Maybe all Cubans have a hard time SAC bunting...announcers joking he's probably not going to be doing that much at the major league level. You don't bunt, or walk for that matter, your way out of Cuba. I'm sure that is not a point of emphasis for those looking to make the jump.
  12. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 07:25 AM) I believe....that Hawkins will figure it out and thrive, that Carlos Sanchez will continue developing, and both will be solid ML ballplayers. Mitchell and Thompson, not so much. Thompson has made progress each year and shows that he might be reducing his k rate. I still hold out hope that he will be a contributor in a sox uniform. Mitchell is quickly approaching lost cause status. Wait till he inevitably gets hot, then deal him.
  13. Micah Johnson another productive night when the rest of the lineup was silent. 2 for 3, 2 rbi, and his 12th stolen base of the year. Brennan had a very disappointing night though. 5.2 ip 10 h 6 er 1 bb 1 k.... ouch Hopefully Rienzo uses this start to get some momentum turned in the right direction.
  14. Interesting note from the Birmingham game, Chattanooga not only started CJ Retherford at 3B, but had Gregory Infante come in out of the pen.
  15. If we limit it to our 1 dark horse for the year, I'll go with Micah Johnson.
  16. Here is my personal Top 8 Dark Horse guys who are seemingly off of the radar now, but could crash the top 20, or even top 10 by year's end: 1. Micah Johnson 2. Kevin Vance 3. Jason Coats 4. Myles Jaye 5. Terance Marin 6. Sammy Ayala 7. Eric Grabe 8. Braulio Ortiz
  17. Add him to the growing list of failed white sox prospects who were ex college quarterbacks.
  18. Luis Castillo, 3B Born: 1996 Ht: 6-2 Wt: 205 B/T: R/R Hometown: San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic Signed: July 16, 2012, $450,000 Scouting Report: Video: Signing with the White Sox Reference: http://dplbaseball.com/dpl-news/luis-casti...cago-white-sox/
  19. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 12:35 PM) I believe we signed four really young DR kids to significant bonuses last year, but they did not play. Anybody remember their names? Victor Done, Hanlet Otano, Johan Cruz, & Luis Castillo.
  20. Myles Jaye is a surprise in the top 10. Anyone else this high on him? I'm interested in what excites them about him.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 10:42 AM) It has been years since I've been able to say this, but the Sox do actually have a position in the minors with some very nice depth of talent now: Hawkins and Thompson very high ceilings, Mitchell and Walker have potential to be starters (I like Walker a little better at this point, but both need a lot of refinement). Then there is the crowd of other guys like Short, Shoemaker, Coats and Haddow, who a few years ago would have been the top OF's in the Sox system (relatively). The outfield is where the system has improved the most in the past couple years. Unfortunately, most other positions still have a pretty significant lack of depth. The OF depth is a product of a serious draft pick investment over the past several years. 2 first rounds, 1 sandwich (first Sox pick), and 1 second round pick over the past 4 drafts. The 4 drafts prior to these never saw an outfielder taken before the 6th. The focus has definitely been OF and P of late.
  22. QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 09:59 AM) Wasn't Brandon Wood that "can't-miss" prospect for the Angels like 3 years ago? Yep, unfulfilled promises big time for this guy, but he's not too far gone that somebody might not catch lightning in a bottle given the right coach and the right situation.
  23. I found it interesting that they listed Hawkins as the best power hitter. I'd give Thompson that nod personally because of sample size, but I guess given room for development Hawkins is an arguable choice. Another insteresting tidbit is that they don't project any of the SP prospects to break the 2016 rotation.
  24. This is the best mainstream list I've seen so far. The only person they include that I don't have in my personal top 10 is Beck, but he's not a huge stretch in my book. I had Semien and DeMichele higher.
