2014-2015 NFL Football thread

QUOTE (scs787 @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 05:31 PM) Dante Rosario as well, which is odd, they resigned him less than 2 weeks ago. Wonder what changed. My guess is they are locked in on an upgrade over him at TE and are clearing space and money. Probably nothing exciting, but an upgrade. -
For those without a BA account, care to gist it for us?

Is Micker Adolfo starting in the DSL, for some reason I recall reading he would start in Rookie ball?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 07:49 PM) At those prices, Saltalamacchia 14 times out of 10. I'm not giving up more than Snodgress for Wieters. He's been a mediocre offensive player, he's 2 years from free agency, and his agent is Boras. I don't mind the idea of acquiring Wieters dependent upon the cost, but I don't see him resigning easily either. Frankly, I'm expecting stopgaps at catcher for the next year. What kind of realistic deal would it take for you to choose Wieters over Saltalamacchia, or is there no fit in your mind that both teams would buy into?
-
If you were Rick Hahn, and you had two options for a catcher in front of you, which would you take and why: Option A: Jarrod Saltalamacchia at a cost of 4 yrs / $36M Option B: Matt Wieters at a cost of Erik Johnson, Tyler Flowers, and Carlos Sanchez

I have no affiliation so please don't consider this spam. I just caught on to this site today and can tell you right now I will be losing a lot of time to it in the future. Maybe some others on here already use it, but this seems to be a good source for scouting insight. Check out the page for Braulio Ortiz that Nathaniel Stoltz posted to his twitter feed: http://mlbfarm.com/player.php?player_id=60...&position=P

I had seen that the White Sox would have an AZL team and there was a question of what that meant to the current affiliates. Now there is news that seems to answer that question with the Pirates announcing they will have Bristol as their affiliate next year. Was there a similar Sox announcement prior to this?

Snodgress with another brutal start.
-
So when do you start to worry about a hidden injury for Snodgress? I think this is 3 straight starts that he's been hit around the yard.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) How do these posts come from the same person? You're defending a 23-year-old in A ball for 'only being 23' and then are 'discouraged' by an 'unimpressive' 18-year-old in rookie ball. Do yourself a favor and pay little to no attention to an 18-year-old's stats. So we should pay no mind to Tyler Danish too, or does this rule only apply when the stats are bad?
-
Keon Barnum has been on fire since coming back from injury.
-
Thaddius Lowry continues to be unimpressive. Still only 18, but discouraging from a 5th round pick.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Why hasn't there been more talk about this Tony Bucciferro guy? Dude has only walked 6 guys in 79 innings, while striking out 86. That's rather incredible to me. I know he's old for Kanny(24) but this is only his first full year in the minors. I think he's still only 23. I have been keeping an eye on him too. Bucciferro, Lopez, and Cose are very interesting pitchers that don't get much talk. If one of them hits and becomes a real impact prospect that would be huge.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) Any reason to get excited about A. Lopez? He has quietly put up some pretty good numbers. Definitely on the radar for now.
-
Snodgress getting hit around the park for the second start in a row. Anyone know what is up? Injury perhaps, or dead arm?

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 10, 2013 -> 09:04 AM) I hope people realize that the Sox will not be buyers this winter. They will be in a situation where they will see who develops next year. They will be buyers once again in 2015. They should be buyers in the sense that they will be putting a lot of money into the draft and international signings. If they can nab some top talent that way I will be excited. Free agents are seldom worth the price tag unless you catch lightning in a bottle on someone no one gets too excited about when they sign (like Jermaine Dye). For now keep chasing Houston down.

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 11:04 PM) Sounds like a pinch runner/utility infielder. Exciting stuff. Not sexy, but for this team to become a winning one someday you'll need guys like that.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 09:06 PM) Hawkins 1-3, BB, no K's K's are coming down a little. No K's plus a walk is very nice to see. Hope he keeps it up.
-
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 12:34 PM) It is, and something like looking at the splits in a calendar month is horrendously ignorant. That is a bit extreme. How about keeping the conversation to the topic and not personal attacks.
-
Before someone states the obvious, I am well aware that 6 games is too small of a sample size to really make a judgement call. With that being said Courtney has been doing much better since the calendar turned over to August, and maybe all hope is not lost yet. In the 6 games in August: .280/.280/.560 2 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, .375 wOBA, and a K% down to 28%. 28% is not good, but relatively speaking it is phenomenl for Courtney. I would think most people would be ecstatic if his numbers stayed similar to this moving forward for the rest of the season.
-
Another good start for Bucciferro. That guy doesn't walk anybody.
-
1-4 for Kanny has been awfully depressing at the plate lately. Those are 4 guys (May, Anderson, Coats, & Barnum) that the system could really stand to see be succesful. To see all of them take a downswing at the same time makes you wonder what's happening coaching wise, or lack thereof in Kannapolis. On the positive Bucciferro has turned out to be someone to keep an eye on. Throws a ton of strikes.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 11:12 AM) If Lance Berkman's really retiring today, does this make Dunn or Rios more attractive to Texas? The whole Rangers organization retiring wouldn't make Dunn attractive to Texas.
