I wonder if his K/9 can drop to 3.0.

Love it. Was just having an argument with a Bill James Apostle who was convinced Avi will amount to nothing because he doesn't walk enough

Yea! I'm hopin for September callups and if they have success they still have to earn a roster spot in camp. No gimmes.

September holds no significance for Avi Garcia, but the rest of those guys getting here in September will give us all something to watch again.

Wendelken. 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K.

Well....that's one way to bounce back, jeeeez.

I wonder who will be with the organization longer, N. Molina or S. Castro?

Another good start for Bucciferro. That guy doesn't walk anybody.

Seems like Castro is going through a dead arm period or something. As long as his velocity comes back, it's got to be him.

Semien and Wilkins would have to be added to the 40 man roster first. If Sox do that, then they are really serious about having one or both compete for a roster spot in 2014.

Semien being on the 40 man isn't going to hurt anything, and is Wilkins rule 5 eligible? I doubt he's a great candidate, but they may want to add him anyways.

Wilkins was drafted in 2010 so he is eligible this year.

Wasn't he throwing in the high-80's when he was last called up? He's down like 6-7 mph from a year ago, maybe more.

It's a legitimate concern because he could certainly end up with numbers very similar to Juan Encarnacion.

He reached as high as 92 in his first outing, sitting at 89-90. Next outing 87-89, and by the time he left it was 86-88. Very strange. He often was pitching with a great deal of rest, too

He was mid-90's as a starter when I saw him a year ago and hit something in the range of 97-98 with a fastball for his last strikeout of the game so he kept velocity for the full time. That'd be a huge dropoff just from "tired arm".

If it's not his shoulder or elbow, it's a mechanical flaw and a big one at that.
