  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) Flash...would you be happy with Main? Yes. Even if he never reaches the majors and his arm gives out, atleast give me someone with the potential to become a top of the rotation starter. Our safe first round selections haven't been successful as it is, why not take a risk?
  2. Let's go Nick Schmidt. (clap clap clap clap clap) Pick him San Diego (clap clap clap clap clap) please.
  3. Tim Alderson off the board. Now we're guaranteed to select among Smoker, Main, Porcello.
  4. OMGROSSO! Smoker, Main, Porcello still on the board.
  5. Chris Withrow There's goes the pitcher several had us projected as taking. SCHMIDT IS STILL ON THE BOARD, DAMMIT!
  6. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) their past 18, and porcello is still left where did many mock drafters have porcello going? I'm worried about Los Angeles (20) and Texas (24) before us. I wouldn't be surprised if Los Angeles took Smoker or Main, though. It's Texas which freightens me. Conventional wisdom would say one of their first rounders would be devoted to a pitcher, another a positional player, but Texas isn't exactly conventional.
  7. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) porcello is a boras client, probably isn't a coincedence he's fallen this far into the first round, even if he was available at 25, i dont see KW dealing with boras If Main has since been taken, I expect Porcello to be selected. We're not selecting until 89. What exactly are we saving the money for? Even with Boras as an agent, 8 million for one player of Porcello's calibur is a risk well worth the money.
  8. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) I bet Porcello goes to Texas at 24. Or to the Yankees. They have additional compensation picks, so if Porcello is the pick they're not guranteeing much money for later picks. I'm hoping San Diego and San Francisco have similar reasons for not throwing 8 million at Porcello.
  9. I've never been a fan of his delivery, so I'm glad Texas has selected him over Main or Porcello.
  10. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) I'm really starting to get Nick Schmidt vibes. I just have a feeling he will fall to the Sox and I'd probably be the only happy/satisfied person here. I'll be very upset. Especially if pitchers with higher ceilings remain. Please, draft gods, have him off the board by #25.
  11. I'm hoping Schmidt and Burgess are taken before us so we're not tempted into selected them.
  12. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 02:31 PM) My three are still available (Moroscato, Main, and Procello), please land one of them. Well, two of them are.
  13. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) smokers velocity is only 91 Yeah, but his fastball has movement and he has a good assortment of secondary pitches. It may not be an ace, be his projectability exceeds Lance Broadway or Kyle McCulloch.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) That will start to happen now... Blake Beavan (whom I'm not a fan of), Michael Main, Josh Smoker, Rick Porcello still on the clock. Still waiting, hoping, for several projected sandwich picks to drop.
  15. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) I doubt Porcello gets past Texas. Not only Porcello, but for Main or Smoker. Perhaps Matt Harvey. It'd be devastating if we miss our projected player because of one more victory than the the preceding team. That's why I said before, any victory made after we were out of contention last season is one less opportunity to draft our player. Look at 2002 and Cole Hamels; we selected right afterwards. Draft position is huge, and can easily change a team's future.
  16. While there have been wildcard selections in the first round, there hasn't been any projected sandwich picks falling into the first. We need a few of these for someone to fall into our lap.
  17. Marlins are good for selecting pitchers. I have a bad feeling Michael Main will be off the board.
  18. I'd like to see a video shot of our draft room. I'm guessing it's two people sitting in front of a chalk board in the furnace room of USCF. With a 56K connenction alllowing them an opportunity to keep up with the picks on Soxtalk.
  19. Love the selection of Parker by the Diamondbacks. He's the type of pitcher I'd love for the White Sox to have. Perhaps next year they'll have an opportunity.
  20. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:56 PM) There is gonna be a top ten talent on the board for the Sox at 25, guarenteed. Will the Sox take him is the question? I will guess no. I'm not thinking that way quite yet. Everyone that has been picked has been regarded as a 1st round selection, and ahead of the White Sox. If previously unknown first rounders or sandwich picks make it before the Sox then it's possible.
  21. I envy Arizona here. Aumont and Parker available to suppliment a solid collection of positional players.
  22. The Giants will have one hell of a future rotation if they have the choice between Aumont and Parker.
  23. WOW! This is an absolute shock. He's been labeled a future DH. Limited range and without many positions.
  24. I guarantee Baltimore Orioles fans are livid right now. Nationals have themselves the choice of the lot, here. They're going to take a pitcher.
