  1. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 04:28 PM) and thats the ball game... Buehrle looked pretty good at least. Velocity wise, yes. Results, wise? Not so much.
  2. I'm sure we're near 40 DP's this spring training. It has been ridiculous.
  3. There's a grinder -- he gives everything during a game; whether it's a blowout or not. It'll be a moment like that he'll injure himself trying to stretch out to first to beat an infield single in a 10-0 game.
  4. This isn't what we need. Why couldn't Podsednik have been playing first base?
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:42 PM) I don't know if this makes me a bad fan, but if the Sox aren't going to make the playoffs, I hope they're far enough out of the race at the trade deadline that we can trade Buehrle. The worst thing that could happen is to not make the playoffs, and then lose Buehrle via free agency after the year. I believe if we're anymore than 6 games out of the division or wild card it should be time to sell off pieces. But only if what we receive is better than the compensation picks Dye and Buehrle may provide. It's just going to be frustrating because you know that's exactly what will happen, and people will have this delusion of the team putting everything together in the second half like Houston and Cleveland did in years past. Oh, and Stewart is really making Walker look bad.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:38 PM) He dropped down a little on the ball that was hit off the wall, and it looked like a high school slider. It was nothing like his other starts. It appeared to me he threw nothing but straight fastballs over the top and avoided dropping down with regularity.
  7. I notice Russell isn't dropping down during any of his pitches. Must not give a damn about impressing anyone, anymore.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) So the soxtalk rule is that we're not allowed to openly root for injuries? Let the game of baseball take its course.
  9. Anytime you have 6 hits and 2 runs off Loe, you just have to consider it a success. TIP YOUR CAPS!
  10. Make that six AB's between Podsednik and Erstad that neither have hit a baseball further than five feet out of the infield.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) It amazes me what happened this offseason, it really does. Buehrle really making it look difficult to get the Rangers "C" squad out. What, you're not inspired by his quick recovery from surgery? Let's see if Podsednik can make it three soft outs to 1st base.
  12. Please, Podsednik. Never throw another baseball. 4-2 Texas. Buehrle being Buehrle, unfortunately.
  13. Terrible throw from Podsednik. Bounced about two times before reaching the plate. And he was in short left field!
  14. This sort of pandering by Hawk/DJ is insulting to the viewer. Yeah, I'm sure Buehrle loves Chicago enough to stay here for less years/money than another ballclub. Despite the fact he's talked about market value in the papers.
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) You would think they would try to sell the public on it, especially with McCarthy's stats this spring. The only problem with that is they would have to ignore most of the White Sox pitching staff's stats. Considering how Hawk is quick to talk up any and all trades, it lends me to believe he disagrees with the deal.
  16. Just when Hawk was about to enlighten us with Buehrle's contract situation the inning ends. I'm really interested in how he'll spin this.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) Good grief, our 1/2 combo is depressing. Let's not short change Loe, here. He's going to be REALLLLLY good this season.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) So according to the hawk, Stewarts swing is different. Texas' hitting coach (forget his name) is the equivalent of Don Cooper to Sox fans. People believe anything his touches turns to gold.
  19. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) Oh crap Uribe down. Looks like he twisted his knee slipping on turf. Slippery grass, huh? Quick, move Podsednik to the shortstop position!
  20. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) Erstad and Podsednik are white and have perpetual stubble. That's the highest score you can get outside of being David Eckstein. Does losing your hat chasing a flyball add to the grinder index?
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) According to Hawk Loe has the best sinker in the entire world, in fact I think he is using some sort of gravity device to pull on the ball more. Then again, it could be hawk talking up another pitcher he thinks will shut down our lineup. Just wait until those DEVASTATING sliders begin hanging in Arlington. It won't be pretty.
  22. When will Loe be accepting his Cy-Young award? Christ, I'm already tired of the praise on this guy by Hawk/DJ. I'm sure by June I'll look at his statistics and notice a delicious 5.50 ERA and hits surrendered than IP.
