QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) Am I crazy, or is Buehrle's start position and windup a little different than we're used to seeing. He seems more hunched over, bent at the waist. No, that's exactly what I noticed as well. In the stretch, especially, he's bent over more. -

That's why Anderson isn't suited for the utility role. -

Cmon, Hawk and DJ. If anyone on our team moved along two runners into scoring on a swinging bunt it'd be praised. Yet, when Texas does it it's not a productive out. Doesn't matter, as Buehrle is crushed. -

There's our top of the order. Two soft outs; Thome up with no one on base. -

Judging by velocity, Buehrle looks right on track. Noticeable difference from the second half of last season. Great changeup on the first pitch. -
Wait, we're still talking about him? Old news.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) Here's to hoping Russel gets shelled, because this entire charade of anyone being able to grab a spot on the 25-man is a f***ing joke. Adam has talent, yes, but he needs some more time at, oh I don't know, AA. Also, Anderson playing RF. Sweet Jesus I hate Ozzie. lollerz, where's the charade? There should be a sentiment among players that regardless of experience, if you perform, you'll be given an opportunity. I never once said he should be handed the position. At the least, a start against Texas would present coaches with an additional option. The worst that could happen is he follows Logan's path, is shelled upon promotion, then returns to the minors and rights himself. Doesn't bother me one bit. If he were the best option in the 5th starters spot (which we'll never know), the opportunity should have been awarded as such. -
At Toyota Park (in Bridgeview) on July 28 is the second 'Crossroads' tour headlined by Clapton. I don't believe tickets go on sale until March 31. Several quality performers: Eric Clapton Steve Winwood BB King Willie Nelson Jeff Beck Vince Gil Sheryl Crow Buddy Guy John Mayer Other artists will be announced at a late day. $90 for tickets, but free for me because there's no way I'm avoiding work on this day.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 01:31 PM) I'm interested to see more of Russell and Buehrle today. The hell with slow-hand Buehrle. I'm upset Russell isn't starting. Although it should be interesting to see how Mark fares against the Rangers. -
Remember when he was missing for several days and the media may a big scene out of it? that was awesome

QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 01:05 PM) I am basing the Floyd pick on that Kenny Williams really likes Floyd, and wants him to make the team one way or another. I'll be very upset with Williams if he gives Floyd a bullpen position. Hell, even with Haeger's bed wetting several days ago he has at least proven himself capable of succeeding in the minor leagues. His durability also far outweights Floyd's Arizona fall league potential. Let him go to AAA and speak to Coop through a video phone. The team shouldn't suffer because Williams and our scouts noticed something in Floyd which nearly every piece of evidence suggests doesn't exist.

QUOTE(GoGoWhiteSox! @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 12:40 PM) Yeah Danks def deserved the 5th spot over Gavin Floyd, but why isn't anyone big on Adam Russel!! He pitched great all spring. Everyone says Danks has great mound presence, etc, how bout Russel standing in at like 6'7 and bringing the heat!!! I hope we see more of him in the future!! I'm one of the few Soxtalk members who were willing to give Russell an extended opportunity to win the 5th starter's spot. As it is, after Danks was anointed the position Russell was pushed out of the start this afternoon and into relief. Which is a shame, considering pitching against Texas would have been an interesting challenge. Let's say he did pitch against Texas. If he were to last 5 innings and give up three hits, one earned run, one walk, and five strikeouts he'd be comparable to Danks in nearly every category. It would have been his third spring training start (to Danks' second) and -- in my opinion -- an appropriate gauge of his overall talent Even then, there's no guarantee Russell would have been selected. I just wish he would have been given a chance. Who knows would have happened? It certainly wouldn't have hurt anyone to delay the decision one day.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 12:22 PM) rotoworld reads soxtalk... They do have several of our talking points down. Especially the part about expecting Erstad to land on the DL early in the season.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 09:53 PM) I thought Ozzie hated young white kids Oh, absolutely despises them. It just so happens Guillen sees this image whenever Danks pitches: And he's referred to as Jesus Danko -- a second generation Mexican immigrant who is the co-owner of a profitable burrito stand. Side stories help reinforce the decision.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 07:53 PM) Damn, and against a division rival at that. Welcome to the bigs kid. Can't make excuses for Danks. That's the hand he's dealt. His first several projected starts are: MIN, @CLE, TEX, @KC, ANA. Considering this game is on FOX, and may possibly be seen by a large percentage of the nation, Danks could really make a name for himself with a good outing. I figure if he's exiting the first month of the season with 25 innings pitched and ~5.40ERA, we're in fairly good shape concerning his development. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 07:59 PM) Are you sure about that? Minnesota usually isn't a team to skip the 5th spot, especially that early. Actually, I'm not too sure. There's a good chance you're right with Minnesota's off day on the 5th. Danks may be spared Santana depending on Minnesota's desire to avoid their 5th starter.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 07:47 PM) Im surprised Comedy Central hasnt taken action yet. This cannot put them in a good light to be promoting obvious act thievery. Then again, maybe they should have done some research before throwing him on the Chappelle show format and saying "Ready-set-go!" After Chappelle left Comedy Central it was as if they were desperate for racial comedy. Unfortunately for everyone, it was the DER DEE DER guy.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 07:27 PM) He'll be fine. All we want is a .500 ish record and an ERA below 5. He can do it. Congrats Danks and I'm glad we made this decision. I'm actually expecting slightly less in regard to ERA. Perhaps 5.00-5.50 with a record around .500. Oh, and guess who he'll be pitching against his first start in the majors? Johan Freakin' Santana. Good luck, son. Better keep us in the game.

BEANERS!!!! Bmags should be laughing hysterically about now. This Cosby incident is a much more damaging account of plagiarism than previous allegations. Perhaps someone could have realistically argued the wall comment within the Rogan video was coincidence. His whole routine is about BEANERS and it's not out of the realm of possibility. You would stilll have to ignore the fact he performed on the same event as the Jewish comedian who originally mentioned the joke. This recent Mencia routine, from the beginning until the end, was framed exactly the same. Starts off about teaching a child how to play football, goes through all the achievements, then ends with a punchline of the player waving to his mother in the endzone. His career should end, and every remnant of his existence on Comedy Central should be burned.

Buehrle's starting tomorrow? f*** that, Russell should begin the game. White Sox lose (again....x100) to Arizona.

My hot prospect is Tim Linecum. HMMM HMMM HE'S SCRUMPTIOUS!

There's all Guillen needs to see -- Erstad homers, Anderson strikes out.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) Wrong grinder. How about, when you have the potential to become a natural 30/30 player you're no longer considered a grinder.
-
It just speaks volumes of his popularity that it took until 2:13 in the afternoon for someone to create a thread.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 02:06 PM) And my man-crush personal favorite grinder in CF for the DBacks! Unfortunately, when you have 30/30 potential you're no longer considered a grinder. We had no use for that.
